Wouldn't it make more sense to let all the Geth live?

I think Legion's actions, starting from ME2 are focused on changing Shepard's perspective on the geth. Like a propaganda. The internal conflict in their society, N7 armor, the consensus mission with carefully picked memories... But I don't think he is with the Reapers. It is possible, however, that the geth will become something like Reapers in the future...

I think they are all truths, all memories, all facts of the conflict. But yes, selected ones, whereas the Quarians selected their own, more brutal memories that they can't just naturally 'forget' (*cough* near extinction of their species).

Similar to what I think is happening regarding the 'Catalyst' and Shepard. *puts on tin foil hat*

Propaganda is always going to be a thing, and I don't think Legion or GethVI was actually malicious about it, but it was just the way they thought that Shepard could ever understand their lesser-known standpoint about the Morning War.

The Quarians acted out of fear, and i daresay ignorance. Their society revolved around controlling and manipulating synthetics, and of course their first response wasn't to understand what they had created.

Instead of communicating with the Geth to understand their motives, they sought to destroy them. Of course, this is hindsight, and the Quarian response was needed to set up the game's antagonists as flashlight stormtroopers, who you could kill with little remorse.

The first game made you rather unsympathetic to Geth, because they were the villain. The second game made you question this, and the third meant as a Paragon, you had to acknowledge them as equals.

Not really. For every job a Geth program replaces, a new job - repairing said Geth - appears.

The first trilogy made you rather unsympathetic to the Rea... oh nevermind. :D
