I thought I saw on the wiki interpretations of the tattoos, but given that the art book comes out with the game and the reference guide in April I'm holding out hope it will be found in those places.  Maybe the Dalish tattoos are related to specific clans, or maybe based on a Keeper's vision that is not explained to the receiver.  I wish there were more tattoos, so I admit to my bias, but I also think the elf is not Dalish without them.  I feel like asking them to be taken out would be like asking for  a tall dwarf or a tiny qunari.  Yes, it is possible in the world, and it could make for an interesting story, but then doesn't it take away from the actual story?  Wouldn't people constantly be remarking on it, "So you're a city elf?"  "No, I'm Dalish."  "No, you're not."  "where is your blood writing?"  "I thought it looked stupid, so I ran off from my clan."  "So, you're not Dalish."  "I can make my hand glow."

I'd rather be a city elf anyway. That's my point. Well, that, and I hate tattoos in general, especially on the face. I don't want my characters to look like Mike Tyson with that ugly thing on his face.

I wonder what it means that "marketing people got excited and took it"? Does it mean they thought it was a great idea but want to control how/when it's released? That they like it but think it should be in the world of thedas v2? Or something else entirely?

Guessing we won't hear of it for awhile. Too bad, it would have been very useful for my elf.

I do kind of see the point of not having them officially explained. That way everyone can just choose which one they think looks coolest and then headcanon what it represents.

I like the idea of what they were going to do: supply something outside of the game, so that people can headcanon whatever they like, but those who are invested in that specific lore have a reference.

Yep this seems like a really good idea to me too.

 

So I hope the chart is found and released in the next few days but I admit I'm not terribly hopeful at the moment...

I have no diea which is which? Why make a pantheon with lore and vallaslin to represent it to keep it secret? Wasted potential :/

Just started an Elf character. I gave her very pale skin, I think the 2nd one along, then made the tattoo as faint as possible and just changed the colour to white, makes it practically invisible. I can't ever see it any time I see her face anyway.
