Considering this is the Strategy forum, and also because its a huge deal for me, what weapon variations do you expect or want to see in MP?  I'm talking axe/sword/club/spear or longbow/shortbow/crossbow or fire/ice/spirit staves.

I feel like I read that there will be both swords and axes in MP.  But what does that mean?  What does an axe do that a sword doesn't?  Desires, expectations, doubts? Please share.

I really want to see a significant difference where choosing the weapon really uniqueifies you.  If I see someone using an ice staff should I choose a greathammer to crush frozen foes more effectively?  Or should I double-up and equip a weapon with ice runes?

If I give my Legionnaire a mace he'd better turn up the womp-age, penetrating armor and staggering like a boss.  A greatsword better have some kind of attack speed or critical chance increase I can exploit to wreak my havoc.  Hand axes? Yeah, totally need some kind of passive killination attribute like combos for increasing damage or bleeding or I dunno, like, deathblows?  ...  No, wait, forget all that other stuff I just said, I choose deathblows.

Yes axes, maces, and swords were confirmed from pictures released, there is an unofficial library thread up and one of the links there actually show several weapon types. It isn't so much the weapons (greathammer) to an opponent with an effect (frozen), it is the skill used (mighty blow upgraded to shattering blow in DA II) to make the damage double or some higher damage combo  than that but I feel a the weapon should have a damage multiplier with or without a skill used, and have the skill have a higher damage output on certain effects. Legionnaires can't have a two hand weapons, because their off hand is always a shield.
