I have a lot of pieces of grass scattered over an area. I want to select some very specific ones, by clicking on them, or using a dragbox. Unfortunately, this is an incredibly frustrating process with some plants being almost impossible to select. Scrolling through every model in the list is not really an option because there are too many. Is there some setting I can change to make it easier to select these things?

i don't know if you can adjust the selection lock for a whole tree controller or a group of models. for a single model it works. that's the only way i can think of^^

You can indeed make vegetation unselectable at any point in the file tree. This should make it easier for your to select objects in the 3d view. Also grouping models and making those unselectable may help as well. Lastly, as you said, scrolling through each piece of grass works, you wouldn't want any of them floating above ground, so it's not a bad idea to check anyway.

After I place all of my grass, I just select the whole lot and move them down a bit. Saves messing around with individual pieces.
