"Butt" is something you sit on. Let's use "But" instead, yes?

With that out of the way, your phobia is hardly Bioware's problem. Sorry if I seem unsympathetic - that's because I am.

Your response to the scary monster is self-inflicted. You know full well every Dragon Age game by nature contain scary creatures.

Perhaps you should stick to games that you know won't have things like that in them.

Not that you are implying that Bioware remove these kind of things from their games (because that would just be silly).

By the way, your phobia is simply a false belief that you have created through continual thought about the thing.

You have control over your own mind and the power to overcome it.

english is not my first language so i always get the"butts"confused..;)my problem is not with the big "scary"monster...as stupid as it sounds my problem has to do with the holes in its body....sadly my phobia is not something that i have control over, trust me i tried..

Yes, I know what trypophobia is and whilst you may believe that you are unable to overcome it, I promise you, you really can!

You don't have to approve of the holes. you can get over your phobia by thinking about it differently.

And it's not silly to experience what you do, it's just unnecessary.

It won't make you feel any better, OP, but at least they're spreading the heebiejeebies around more. Players who fear spiders are probably still going to be biting their nails every time the screechy music plays, but it does come as a bit of a relief to arachnophobes that not all of the horribly monstrous creatures they encounter will be spiders.

I seem to remember a mod for Origins which replaced the spiders with Mabari for the arachnaphobes among us. Maybe something similar will be doable for those who can't live with giant crab monster things.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but that is one of the most..... different(?) fears I've ever heard of or read about.....

For all those commenting without knowing what the OP is actually afraid of, please shut up... you're coming across as stupid.

There are ALOT of phobias out there and its not really practical for a company to try and take them all into account.

I realise that this is something that might be very difficult for you to get over, maybe someone can play through that part for you?

Coming from my own logical mind. I cant understand trypophobia, but I won't make fun of someone that has that particular fear.

Usually a fear is cultivated by something

Clowns: watched a scary movie or were scared as a child

Spiders/Mice: Scared as a child or (most likely) a parent was afraid when you were younger and instilled said fear in you.

Now these are what I've come across and in no way will hold true for everyone. I understand that there are some fears that do not make sense and these do affect ppl on a day to day basis. There is no rhyme or reason for these fears. they just are.

My mom is arachniphobic, but is also highly allergic to spider bites.i am Cnidophobic (afraid of stings) but am allergic to most insect stings.... This however does not go into ineedles as getting my blood drawn or shot given, I'm fine....

Not trying to come across as douchey or unpleasant, just making my statements from my observations

Hm. That's not very fair, OP. I'm tokophobic, but I wouldn't expect videogames, or other media, to not incorporate pregnancy into games. (The broodmother being one of the few bosses in a video game that is likely pregnant. lol)

We can't expect video games to bend to our every whims unfortunately. If they tried to please everyone, then we wouldn't have anymore video games. We'd be reduced to sitting in a circle and holding hands for entertainment. But then the wind might pick up and blow dust in someone's eye and even then there will be exception - or offense - taken.

I know how you feel OP since I have some form of trypophobia, more afraid of cracks instead of holes (I can't stand cracked ground that's recently dried up, cracked skin, eyes of flies) however with time I've learned to manage that fear and I certainly don't let it stop me from playing a game or enjoying going to a lake bed or reading a bio text book. I guess what I've learned to do is simply push past it when the fear comes up, since the universe isn't going to eliminate that fear just for one person's request.

Good point, my phobia is too ridicoulus to be exploited by anyone... is SO RIDICOULUS that when i create a Vampire character and add phobia as flaw I ask other players what are their phobias instead.

doesn't sound doucy or unpleasent if anything its a articulated response on self-preservation.
OT: think of it this way OP it may help overcome your fear, i got over my fear of spiders by studying them

I would ask how one would study up on trypophobia or how to overcome it?

Myself, I could stare at pictures of girls with holes in their faces all day and not feel a shudder, so I don't have the phobia. But I can kind of understand it.

Virtually everything scares someone; there are people who are terrified of butterflies. But you can't have players fight "nothing."

well since apparently no speciallist on the phobia( considered not a phobia by some). I would assume try and jump in a small hole and jump in bigger ones as you get more comfertable, similar to how hydrophobics overcome their respective phobia

I think you should try to imagine that the crab is your enemy that you hate. If you can understand that the crab thingy is something that is preventing you from killing more demons that might give you motivation to see the crab thingy as just another obstacle that you must overcome to close the fade where the demons are coming out of.

Hope that helps.

Just to clarify people are not necessarily afraid of the holes, but actually feel physically ill looking at or even reading about those sorts of things (myself included).  It's not a rational fear or anything like that so I just try to game around it.

OP, I encountered this issue during the Collector's ship mission in ME2 so the first time I just played with my eyes slightly unfocused, angled my camera appropriately to avoid the worst of it, or concentrated very hard on the characters or other objects in the environment that wouldn't trigger the reaction.  When you encounter the monster that bugs you in DA:I I'd recommend switching to a ranged character, using tactical mode, or turning the camera away in between using skills.

As to overcoming the issue itself, I've been trying to normalize my reaction by keeping mildly triggering images up in a small window on my desktop while I focus on doing other things I enjoy.  Do something that will really distract you and hold your attention, maybe play a game in windowed mode, browse the forums and listen to music, write emails, etc.  I'd also recommend playing the Collector's ship level in ME2 over and over and over again.  The first time through killed me, but now I can look at almost everything in the entire level and only cringe a little :)

Not everyone understands how this feels but I do, and I hope you can work through it because game companies can't and shouldn't have to cater to every phobia.  It totally sucks but maybe it's an opportunity for you to overcome the issue :)

Won't lie i absolutely HATE spiders , they creep me out.

Skyrim was the worst for some reason thank god for the Arachnophobia mod ,replaces all spiders with random creatures otherwise.. pull out a fire spell hold the attack button and run in screaming lol.

Dragon age they didn't bother me at all , could be the graphics compared to skyrim i dont know.

Dark Messiah is another , those were creepy as hell too , so.. just spam fire balls and blast the little buggers into oblivion!

As for the giant monster , didn't freak me out or anything , looks like a good fight! <insert ork voice from warhammer 40k here>
