I always find myself drawn to David's romances, so I'm particularly stoked for Cassandra now that I know she's ungated. Can't wait to see how she'll react to a relationship with a dwarven, elven or qunari Inquisitor.

gaider's characters tend to be the better ones, except Shale(sorry couldn't stand it). The characters in Origins he wrote were some of the best in videogames.

Hopefully it'll be the same w/ Dorian, hoping for a bro-tier friendship.

So let me do the math here....if you like women (male or female players)  you get THREE choices and if you like men (male or female players) you get FIVE choices. Now if you  want a f/f romance you get 2, m/m 2 and str8 you get 4.

interesting.

Your math is off. Straight males, gay males, and gay females only get 2 LIs.

Had the least development of all ME3 romances and appeared to be more of cheap turn-on for straight guys with all those awful semi-nudity teasing scenes rather than something that was created with lesbian players in mind.

Having less dialogue time, less scenes (as the only one she didn't have meet-up on Citadel in base game) makes her less of a character. Such things like those distasteful straight-male-teasing scenes affected the subjective experience.

>Add lesbians to video games!

>These lesbians dont count because they dont fit my exact specifications and appeal to straight men too!

Thats ridiculous.

Who else has David written in the romance field?

I've been a Dragon Age fan for nine months, so yeah. I'm still a nub.

I'm so tempted to play female just so I can love a normal man, but I gotta stay true and just be a male like I truly want to be.

if solas and cullen were only added later on why make them BOTH only available for straight females?

WTF? so they had extra time and instead of giving everyone one extra choice they decided to only please the straight females

this **** is ridiculous

Well, thanks for DA2's romances. It was nice not feeling marginalized and less worthy of being catered to, even one time ever.

Like I said:

Ask any female fan whether or not they consider those options.

I also don't count Traynor as proper romance, so it left me with Liara - who, as Hudson said, was not lesbian romance option.

Why do you say she's not a proper romance?

As do straight females who play dwarves or qunari.

I wasn't talking about that, I was commenting on Traynor being the least developed romance, which is just flat out untrue

I said she was the least developed romance in ME3. I didn't consider continuations from ME2 as actual ME3 romances.

Morrigan, Alistair, Zevran and Fenris. That's two of the best characters (romance aside) I've ever met in a game (Morrigan and Alistair) and what I found to be one of the most enjoyable optional romances in any game I've played (Fenris', particularly the romance scenes).

Couldn't be more stoked that he's writing Cassandra.

Alistair and I think Morrigan. Dunno about later games though.

Edit: And Ninjad. By the whole damn clan.

So four preliminar options for my female dwarf. Now I just have to get to know the characters and see whether they are actually compatible personality wise. I like it! More options than in DA2, at least when I am going after my own preferences.

I hope others find romance in the game as well, even though they might not know it yet. You know, cause we don't know the character arcs? Somebody might turn full-Chancellor Palpatine on us, which would turn that character unromancable for me, but very romancable for others.

Bioware... what the heck

Back down the line you stated that only races would result in inequal options, but now you're telling us that gender AND race result in the same inequality.

What kind of message are you trying to send?!

I'm crushed right now because before now I said to myself "oh the last option will be for males because Solas was tailored for females" -boy was I wrong

I knew how askew the LI table was in Mass Effect but you cant fix inequality by giving it to someone else.

And next time maybe don't wait so long for people to get emotionally invested in characters, like I did with Vivienne, and then drop a bomb like this. Do it early so the pain is FAR less than it is now.

Still reading?
I'm getting this game, and I am going to enjoy it. But the business model you're currently fielding is total crap. Bioware, you do good work, but your delivery just sucks.

Edit: Don't agree with this and use it as ammo to attack the Devs. This is only an opinion piece written in a moment of rage.

Bioware employees are real people with real feelings. The LIs are virtual people with scripted feelings.

Well some of them are, Miranda and Jack, Tali, Garrus.

Just because they don't fit your definition doesn't make them not-romances

Beats the hell out of me,I consider Traynor a proper romance despite the lack of content she gets compared to the other LIs.

Thank you so much for giving us the full breakdown, Mr. Laidlaw.  It's not exactly what I was hoping for, but it's great to finally have all the information to work with.
