Wow, I didn't know that real living sentient beings can be compared to metal objects
So wise

Yes, it actually would. Because gays are not the majority in society. Equal representation, for a minority, is a privilege, and were the numbers not so low that the absolute numbers matter more, I would not support it. 2 and 2 LIs, that's fine. 20 and 20, I'd feel gays were privileged.
You forgot that this would be one video game, not distribution of gay characters in video games in general. So having that in mind, it would be only fair if few percents of games overall had gay protagonists yet it isn't so. And there's also issue of audience, as the existence of gay catered products comes from the fact that there are people who are willing to buy it. The more Bioware gives gay people exposure, the more likely they are going to buy their products, especially since there is not much competition.

He was sarcastic anyway. ![]()
But i've seen this phrase so many times, it makes me roll my eyes.
So now you're trying to pretend the past doesn't matter, and thus, there is no difference in treatment? Even though David Gaider's words suggest that the idea of making the "bonus" LIs anything other than straight, regardless of any "story reasons", was never seriously taken into consideration because gay people having more options than straight people would be so revolutionary that "let's not put the cart before the horse, shall we"?
"If a key opens many locks, it's an excellent key. If a lock is opened by many keys, it's a terrible lock."
I don't think body parts should be compared to different object since they don't work similarly..
That's kind of an attitude is, unfortunatelly, way too common
Blatant sexism, even abusive one as well
Yeah this does happen and I'm not going to condone the behaviour. A lot of this is actually male bonding and bravado rather than an accurate reflection of their 'sober' view of women. Beside you're not going to tell me that groups of women are never disrespectful about men.
"A pencil sharpener that sharpens all kinds of pencils is a good sharpener. A pencil that lets itself be sharpened by too many sharpeners has to be thrown away"
Mine was much better.
Where are my 3 likes?

Except David Gaider catches hate from the gay gamers by depicting one bisexual character not to their liking

So if they hate you anyway, just do what you think is right, serves the story best and is the most effecient use of your resources. That way, all people whining "but I want more" are equally dissapointed.

No bonding and no beer is an excuse for such a behaviour
Male, female, anyone
They continue to do better every game. I can see a time where it will be equal in their games, but it will probably be years down the line. Unfortunately society isn't quit ready for it.
Am I missing something.... how is it not equal in DAI?

Straight girls have more choices than everyone else
Which I don't mind, since we also used to have less choices than men
I wouldn't mind if other gender and sexualities had more choices as well
1-2 is not that many to be troublesome

"If a pencil sharpener sharpens many pencils, it's an excellent pencil sharpener. If a pencil is sharpened by many sharpeners, it is a ruined stub."

the problem is Bio-wear can't just bank it all on gay gamer's and as David Gaider said when you make content the have to prioritize who is going to use it most and the LGBT community is very small and that is the reason there are more heterosexual romance options then homosexual romance's Bio-wear has to make money off the game it's a business thing.
This is a new game & a romance thread about DAI. Do we really have to continue the "who got it worst" in the previous games. BW has made strides with gay/lesbian companions. DG stated you're setting yourself up for disappointment to expect them to set the charge for more for LGBT. They continue to do better every game. I can see a time where it will be equal in their games, but it will probably be years down the line. Unfortunately society isn't quit ready for it.
TBH I engaged in this conversation in response to comments calling stance of people who expressed similar concerns as "entitlement" and pretending that there is absolutely no difference between situation of straight men and lesbians.

Except it's already clear that it's not about doing what serves the story best.

Beat u to it, hah.

You're too late with that one.

OK, but do you think that therefore calling the dissatisfaction from being reminded of having worse status, something we have to deal with in real life as well, as "whining" and "entitlement" is justified?

I'm not sure that really makes it unfair to gay / lesbian characters, a plus for the straight female protagonists but I don't think anybody would suggest that all games need to keep to strictly equal numbers.

I quite frequently play Bioware games as a Lesbian, and I would guess I am not alone... admittedly I personally don't like romancing the gender I am not attracted to in real life but I'm sure many are happy to. So the number of romance options should not necessarily be connected to the size of the community.

They didn't say that the situation was the same for those groups. They said that the complaints about Sera/Cassandra being straight/gay were the same. I've seen men arguing about how Sera should be bi, lesbians arguing about how Cass should be bi, straight gals arguing about how Dorian should be bi and gay guys arguing about how Solas/Blackwall/Cullen should be bi. It's more or less the same arguments; "I wanted him/her because I find that character attractive", "They should have made that character bi to ensure equal options" and of course "OMG HOW CAN YOU PANDER TO THAT GROUP, U DUN FKD IT UP".
OK, but do you think that therefore calling the dissatisfaction from being reminded of having worse status, something we have to deal with in real life as well, as "whining" and "entitlement" is justified?
No I don't.
But we were ignored in the past so we deserve more now is not true as well you deserve equal treatment not better treatment other gamer's .

the same for me is true as well fem hawk all the way.
bio-wear fans represent a very small part of the community a very small part.

Wait? How am i pretending that the past doesn't matter? We were talking about people complaining about how the romances have been done in DAI, not past games. I take it you're one of the "we should get more now since we had less in the past" crowd?

Thank you! Someone gets what I was saying at last.

Normally, no. In the case of DAI's romances, yes. The state of things in DAI deserves no complaints (I'm saying that as a member of a group who got 2 options) with regard to representation.
