well this thread has seen the entire expanse of BSN in three hours, arguing about privilege, representation for women and LGBT gamers, DA2's quality, and now food euphemisms
What about the oppression of Elves and Mages?

What about the oppression of Elves and Mages?
I lump that in with issues about privilege and oppression
That is another topic
and often Templar/chantry sympathizer will come bargin in without knocking !
What about the oppression of Elves and Mages?
God dammit Jedi Saint, lol.
What about the oppression of Elves and Mages?
You just had to bring it up.
I wonder if we'll get pages of people calling the human Inquisitor an vile shem who fetishizes poor Sera. ![]()
All that's missing is another round of Loghain debating.
God dammit Jedi Saint, lol.
And let's not forget the Indoctrination Theory while were at it.

mostly absent from this forum, hell its mostly absent from the ITer's forum
I hope Sera doesn't get modded like Samantha did...
but sadly it's only a matter of time...
I'm calling it now. Deh first frostbite mod will be either making Josephine white or Sera straight.
I don't see the problem w/ people modding characters for their own personal playthroughs. Say what you want about the intentions behind the person who creates such a mod and the people who use it, but not everyone who uses mods will use those specific mods. It's not altering the official appearance or characteristics of a character.
The Isabela whitewash mod made me cringe, but I didn't give a rat's ass over its existence or who was using it. I just let that be. I don't see what's the point of fixating on what some people out there are doing in their game or who's modding what character to be what. It doesn't affect the official representation of the character.
Don't underestimate the power of allies as well. There are plenty of people who will support a business because they cater to (or at least don't discriminate against) LGBT, POC, and women. Look at that interracial Cheerios commercial. Most people didn't know or didn't care. When it got hate the positive response (in favor of Cheerios) was enormous.
Oh, that I believe. A similar thing happened w/ a Coke commercial where people were singing "America the Beautiful" and various different languages.
I think the fact of the matter is that we have not really met any of these characters yet. So how can you be angry that you didn't get the options for love interests that you wanted? In DA2 I thought I would like Merill and hate Isabela. Isabela turned out to be my LI and one of my favorite companions in that game, whereas Merill I strongly disliked. I never would have expected to like Tali at the end of ME2 as much as I did. I can guess at which character I'm going to like most in DAI, but I won't know until I play the game.
Really looking forward to get to know Sera, Solas, Dorian, Cassandra and Cole (I already know him) along with the rest of the team ![]()
LOL. I guess that was the advantage of this tomboy being an only child... no brothers to steal my games away.

Good thread, quality thread and I think everyone should take 10 mins in the
we're all a lil bit crappy, might as well own it.
Some a little bit more crappy then others too.
This thread has taken a horrifying turn.
This thread is oozing with heresy!
I think that would be really weird, depending how sexuality is handled by the characters (kind of like the people who mod a gay Alistair romance where he still calls you "queen" and stuff).I'm calling it now. Deh first frostbite mod will be either making Josephine white or Sera straight.
So magical.XD my first BW game was a lark impulse by of Jade Empire cause pretty cover.

I don't think I was ever angry, just depressed. Also... resentful lol I still prefer the "all bi" system. I'll be gritting my teeth as I play the game, knowing others are getting to romance certain characters that I can't. Stinkin' Alistair and Morrigan situation all over again!
But I loathe appearance mods in general; hopefully it'll just be impossible with the new engine.
Oh no, I hope not! I've got a mustache to remove ![]()

Hard to talk about it when we've had no new info for over a year. Thats how you end up in the Scary Door and no one wants to go there.

fair enough
*snip weird?? sign*
Haha if it makes you feel any better I'll probably have to wait for several months... if I'm lucky
Iron Bull's gonna be exhausted by then, poor guy...

You cannot simply remove Dorian's moustache! 99.9% of Dorian is composed by his glorious moustache and the .1% by the rest of his body. You would be removing Dorian's soul! And only have an empty husk for a romance.

Well I'd be fine with him growing it out and maybe merging it into a beard or a bit of scruff. ANYTHING but the way it is currently *headdesk*
EDIT: exhibit A:
The only thing I'm concerned about is if Josephine will have the same content in her romance as a the other party member romances. Mass Effects non-party member romances were quite lacking for the most part. I hope Josephine, if anything, gets more romance content then the party members simply because she can't go on quests with you and therefore you lose a lot of the time you'd otherwise get to spend with your LI.
At the very least, I hope Josephine get an equal amount of development and dialogue compare to the other characters otherwise its going to feel like straight males and lesbians got 1.5 romance options.

If you're disappointed in the number, I can assure you the number is the same number of options you've had in the last two games.
If you're disappointed in the selection, then so be it. You're not alone, if commentary on the forum is anything to go by. Personal preference is what it is, and like I've said previously, there's hardly a guarantee that a person will find anything they personally find attractive no matter the number of options. If the idea is that "straight males" in general won't find either of those options attractive... well, we have a large number of straight men who work here in the office who would vigorously object to that assertion, I assure you. Might not want to speak on their behalf.
As a gay male I'm certainly disappointed in my choices too so don't feel bad straight males. My choices are...Iron Bull (yuck) and Dorian. Dorian might be cool, but I don't care how popular they are at Bioware, moustaches are not and his pencil thin one just makes him look creepy.
