Isabella being whitewashed is problematic because representation matters. I wonder the mindset of a person that does this saying what...she would have looked better white? I mean honestly don't get THOSE type of mods. I'm not going to get all deep and existential about it. The crux of the matter is simply, for me, that it makes no sense or I don't try to make logic out of sources that hold none.

I mean there's a whole vid on youtube with Izzy having blonde hair and blue eyes....like...NO.

People might not believe me if I say I find that just as distasteful as you, given what I've said before. But I'll defend it and those who would use it nonetheless, because here's the thing: freedom sometimes means we have to live with what we find offensive. If we aren't prepared to do that, we're already on the slippery slope into totalitarianism, where one faction gets to control people, reaching deep into their personal lives. Also, people are far too fast in judging others.

Oh yeah, I will be making sweet love to Cullen and Blackwall as a man. Mods are getting more elaborate these days so who knows what someone will come up with. :D

I'm just a kind of biting my nails because a lot of people more knowledgeable than myself are saying it's impossible (or will be impossible). While it might be too difficult to literally mess around with the dialogue and cinematics, though, I'm hoping at least someone can turn off the gender check (which is what I did via xbox for Alistair). I think I could handle Cullen and Blackwall referring to me as a woman if I could still experience their romance. I mean, it would be worth it... better than nothing :(

Not really pale is pretty gross ;p

I find pale hugely attractive. I often ask myself why modern women mar their beauty by letting the sun burn their skins. And please don't take that the wrong way: I also love Isabela and would never change her skin tone.

Also last I checked redheads have a pretty clear history of discrimination and persecution. Sorry that your only history lessons in the U.S. pertain to one particular ethnic struggle (either slavery or the holocaust, who gives a **** about the armenian genocide or ethnic cleansing in Eastern Europe and the Middle East).

Yay, Let's play the oppression Olympics. Which group will come out on top as the biggest loser?

Seriously, I don't blame anyone for caring more about their own problems than someone else. I'm living my own life and therefore can only speak for myself and what affects me. I still feel bad for the struggles taking place all over the world but I'll be crying every two seconds if I worked myself up over the shitty lives that many people face everyday.

Also, gingers are evil. :P

@Leldra, I think a beautiful combo is pale skin and black hair. I once made a PC with that combo. Add green eyes to the mix and ya got me!

Freedom works both ways. People can make offensive mods and other people can criticize it. Criticism isnt censorship.

I can give you at least one reason why this mod is understandable. Isabella has caucasian features in both the comic screenshots I've seen and the game. If she had african features for example I doubt that anyone would use the mod. It's easy to think of her as a white person with an extreme case of tan.

Pardon me but what Caucasian features did Izzy have? What ARE Caucasian features...like what does that mean? This is a genuine question.

My original post about this criticized the statement "I wish Frostbite is impossible to mod so that those mods won't exist". Apparently depriving one group from realizing their personal preference is ok, but just imagine if someone turned this around. You would be able to hear the cries of outrage from here to Edmonton. I can't stand these double standards.

Anyway, I guess I should stop posting about this.....

Keep in mind though that there won't be dialogue available. The Inquisitor is gonna stay quite the entire time or gets one of the other gender voices.

Just a heads up :)

many choices. great.

people dont forget, the writers also have to come up with a good romance storyline so i am fine with the options.

Also we dont really know much about those characters.

maybe the once you dont like now will turn into your favs once you start playing.

Hair, size of nose and lips. They are pretty generic, easily distinguishable. Add the fact that she has a spanish name and thedas is heavily influenced by europe and she is Rivaini (which is influenced by Spain). She easily comes of as a Spanish. Of course a lot of these can be explained by the limitations of face features.

But for a person that doesn't spend half his day online debating about the origins of Isabela, her color comes a bit too dark compared to the assumed Spanish origin. Plus in the trailers she looked more pale than in game. That's why the mod is at least understandable. It seems more like a half-assed work of the artists than a legitimate african black person.

Yeah :( But some clever splicing could turn friendship dialogue intro romantic dialogue. Like say my inquisitor can say to Dorian, "You look handsome today" (horrible example, I know lol), well, perhaps a modder could have him say that to Cullen, then Cullen could respond the way he does to a female inquisitor.

Obviously I know nothing about modding :P

*falls in a slump and sighs* The whole situation just sucks :( Great, I'm back to feeling depressed!

Aren't actual Spaniards a good deal lighter-skinned than the Rivaini we've seen?

I'm sorry person but your entire explanation sounds phrenology-ish. I'm not going. There is no way I ever thought Izzy was even a HINT of Caucasian. Ever. It's like they took Salma Hayek and put her in the game, imo. But she definitely is a PoC.

Nope...not going.

Don't quote me on this, but weren't Rivaini people apparently inspired in part by the Moors of the Iberian Peninsula (which encompasses Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and a whee bit of France)?

I don't really know, though, but I'm guessing.

I don't remember any other Rivaini in the game, but that's my argument on why a mod that makes her lighter color is understandable. I think Vivienne is supposed to be Rivaini, but we didn't know about her when we were playing DA2.

I said hair and size of nose, lips. Not color. Salma Hayek has caucasian features.

Just google african hair and caucasian hair and see the difference yourself.

Phrenology is a totally different thing.

No need to feel depressed, but your real question is; Is there going to be a tool? And are there mod makers that can stay serious enough to expand on the existing interests without going overboard? I would guess by the end of the first play through that there will be at least 12 NPCs that many players will want expanded story lines for.

Hi everyone. This thread has continually gone off-topic and  become uncivil. Unfortunately I am going to have to lock it for now. Please do not remake this thread.
