Cullen can fall in love with an Amell or a Sunara even if you don't pick them as the Warden.
Not if they're male.

I just don't understand why straight females are being favoured with TWO extra options I mean you had the extra development time and why not include a special romance for males and one for females? instead they get two extra's
Is this some sort of payback just because males got more options than females in the Me Series?
I have been loving everything about the game so far and romance is "just" a very nice feature for me not what the game is about but I still don't understand this unfairness
Look I don't like being limited as much as anyone but really? Get over yourself man.
Besides if paybacks are the pits just wait till there are only gay and lesbian romances and the straights get nothing ! Mwahahaha
*
*That would actually suck, I am being sarcastic and don't wish the lack of representations I've experienced on anyone.
And I appreciate and love Mr. Epler for working extra hours to ensure that they (and their gay kin) weren't stuck with just one option.
Good point, though I do kind of wonder what the backup plan was if they couldn't get everyone with him?

I'm actually trying not to think about that too much.
That they were originally planning on doing that, and it took the colossal effort of one person working their ass off to make things right.....
Yeah, I'm just going to keep thanking Epler in my head, because if it wasn't for him, the thought of being screwed that much.... is hard to think about right now.
I think Cullen falls for the FWarden specifically. He only mentions his crush if she's an origin.
If no such warden is generated then the Amell/Surana at the Circle who dies can be either? Or is it specified in the lore?
I am THRILLED with this!!
As much as I adored the playersexual characters in DA2 the variations feel realistic and add more dimension to the characters. I am extremely disappointed in the exclusion of Varric for a romance option but I trust that if those who created his wonderful character felt it was the right thing, it was.
I plan on experiencing the story more times than I can imagine both with and without romance! I am so excited for this game!!
Everyone gets two options. They said before that they would consider it fair if everyone had two options, and anything beyond that is a nice bonus.
Do I wish there were more lesbian and gay options? I really do. But then, I also wish there were more women in the party to begin with. Maybe the breakdown would be more even if more LIs had been planned from the beginning. The extra LIs are just that--extras. They were chosen late in development, after they were already set characters.
"Nice bonus" that makes the content done for one specific (straight of course) demographic twice as big as the content for others, since those are full fledged romance options, at least according to devs.

Perhaps only female mage PC was awesome enough to get his attention, and NPC version just wasn't up to snuff. ![]()
Huh, I never heard that.
So, absence of evidence is evidence of absence? Bit of a leap, dude.
We only know that he's race-gated. Not class-gated (kinda dumb if he were). If this supposition were true, then he'd only romance mages of the same race as the warden, whereas no such specification as been made and there is no class-gating. Also, that's far too much importance on warden's origin for the idea to really hold water. (Edit: not to mention the whole "blown out of proportion from-crush-to-obsession" thing)
Basically, you're just speculating just the same way as I am in regard to how his race gating is coming about. That's all you have to say.

I suppose we shall have to wait and see how the romances turn out in actuality.
I wouldn't be surprised if the two gated romances are significantly less in content, despite what the devs say (I'm just that cynical)
Not if they're male.
Which is as good a reason as any to make them female, no?

Man, it's almost like 90% of people who play the game are straight. Weird...

Eh that Solas elf on elf love one looks kinda horrifying, if he wants pure-blood babies outta that sorry girls who pick that path, that would make me run for the hills. Gah babies.
I'm bummed that Viv is off the table, really would have loved to have 3 options for me fem inquisitor but eh in a weird way I'm happy for the straight gals here, yeah for sisters.

I kinda wish people would stop automatically jump on that lol
I ask of you, do you not see well?
there are pictures that y'know, show her skin
My eyes are fine. Thank you for your concern.
Even the devs have said she looks significantly lighter in the pics than she does in the game. I'm not the only one who has brought this up.
I'm a little sad for the straight ladies. We get a bit left out I think. We get the two gated characters and the guy who's about to go on his calling and die ... unless there is a way to save Blackwall ... we're a little like FemShep all over again.
*Spoilers* Fiona, Alistair's mother, was a Grey Warden who escaped the Calling. So there is hope for that :-) *Spoilers end*
Of course, I'd like to thank Bioware for giving us the most romance options EVER! I look forward to playing this game eight times.
I kinda wish people would stop automatically jump on that lol
Don't want babies Keith, elf babies, changing diapers for days. ![]()

With the inexplicable amount of fangirls Cullen has, I would actually be pretty surprised if he didnt have good romance content.

DA series favors females, so I'm expecting most of them to be good.
Only romances I was interested in pursuing from the start were: Iron Bull, Dorian, Solas, Blackwall, and Cullen.
Since I play both Male and Female characters, Gay, Straight, or Bi.
Iron Bull because - Qunari! Hellooooo? And he's my favorite type of Qunari, Snarky.
Dorian - Dat moustache... Is there more that needs to be said? yes?.. He's a mage from Tevinter, I want to hear his storiiiieees.
Solas actually seems interesting - and I *really* like his design. I wonder if I made a Sassy, Gay Elf to tease him all the time, if he'd hate me.
Shame I'll have to make a female character - but I want to see what it's like to be on the reverse side of "Warden Mingles with Normal person". Seeing as how I've romanced everyone from Zevran to Morrigan as my Warden and thought little of the consequences.
And finally... Cullen - You may have awkwardly sprinted away from my Warden in your Heavy Plate, but you can't run from my Inquisitor - BUAHAHAHAH... I erm. I should go.
Basically, you're just speculating just the same way as I am in regard to how his race gating is coming about.
Er, I'm mostly making logical deductions of a sort (I could be completely wrong of course but my point was to evidence the unlikelihood). I mean, there's literally NO class-gating so really, these worries are unwarranted. There's no information other than race-gating.
But if you wanna worry about it, then worry about it.
Also, can we not contradict actual released info that says the "extra" romances are extra romances? (which don't really impact one's game if they aren't elf or in lesser part human anyway) If you want to be exact about it, the contend to straight/pan females-who-go-for-men is not doubled. More like 37% (rounding down) for elves and like less than 13% for humans if my math is correct. And correct me if I'm wrong but it's very rare for even straight female PC's to ever be catered to. Acknowledging the female fanbase who wanted to romance Cullen since DAO and recently Solas once he was revealed is a good thing.
