You and I are in complete accord.
I just...wat.
Oh my. 2 games out of BW's...11? Straight females have more options. Oh noes!
*sigh* Least they have options *glare at BG2, JE and ME1*

But that's also not strictly true?
The extra romances are race-gated and probably highly plot-sensitive. You can't really count them as "whole" as you do the core romances since they are restricted by race. I'm sure they are fleshed out but they are conditioned.
They are still there. Just because they're racegated doesn't mean they disappear.
Let's talk about full romances and how half of the straight male options aren't even going to be in battle with you or have party banter.
I've never seen a picture of those games.
How old are they? Six years? Eight?
Also read above. Just because someone was privileged in the past doesn't mean you can treat them like **** in the present.
Bioware has been making games for 14 years. Just because you don't know the history doesn't make the history irrelevant.
Also, no one is treating you like **** because you have the same amount of options as gay and lesbian players, which is the same amount of options that you've had in both of the previous DA games. Seriously? Your logic is ridiculous.
Yup, that's a really reasonable approachWell, you can always boycott and hope they tank.
Agreed 100%. It's really kind of clueless when you have double the romance options to have a conversation about how some of your romances "don't count" to a bunch of people who consistently get less options than everyone else.
To be clear, I think this particular discussion chain was in response to me, and I don't include myself in the straight female camp. I wanted to romance women in this game, and I have only 2 options there as well. I am also disappointed. There's no denying that. This is bittersweet news for me. Cass and Vivienne were my two preferred choices, and I wound up with neither.
But I would be much, much more upset if I did not know that the 2 additional LIs were added in later. They made the effort to give us queer folks choices, and then they added a few more. I do wish they were not both straight males, yes. I do wish one or both of them were bisexual, at least. But I'm trying to keep it in perspective, here--we have not had anything taken away from us.

You could consider playing as a female and romancing Sera. But I digress...
You won't win this one, dude. Males have had video games designed with their interests in mind since Regan was president. The Berlin wall hadn't even come down yet, and video games were aimed at hetero male interests.
And DAI wasn't designed with revenge in mind. *That* is backward logic. They conjured up the story they wanted with the characters they wanted and this was the result.
nope they had extra development time and instead maybe making one special romance for males and the others for females (should also have been bi since they were "extra" so gay people(gay females and males) also have more choices )
How is this done for the story?

Not as many romances != being treated like ****. Romances are a small part of the game meant to enhance the person's enjoyment. Also, barely any number of people is going to boycott this game simply because they're not getting as many romance options.
#NotAllWomen
Gay women don't get more.
And, just to clarify, it's not that you feel deprived of romances that suit your needs that irks you, rather you're fine with what you have, but don't like it that straight women have two more? Genuine question.
Yep. They're giving women twice the options despite them already having more in DA2 and just as many in Origins.
Thrilled about Blackwall....thanks Bioware
You heterbros have Cass. She's a baberaham and if you don't want her (because she has short hair or wuteva) then I offer you no sympathies.
Just for fun, my options, as i recall them, throughout the years:
NWN - Nobody or nobody
KOTOR - Juhani...kinda... or nobody
Jade Empire - Silk Fox or nobody
ME - Liara or nobody
DAO - Leliana or nobody
ME2 - Liara...kinda... or Kelly...kinda...
DA2 - Isabela or Merrill
ME3 - Liara or Traynor or Kelly...kinda...
DAI - Sera or Josephine
I remember how impressed I was when I discovered Silk Fox liked ladies. The whole idea was kind of unthinkable to me at the time.
DAI has goodness in its options. Y'all's gonna have to deal with it.
You forgetting Allers, but if you don't count her, I totally understand, I would not count her...
Yup, that's a really reasonable approach
(the second part. It's perfectly reasonable to not buy the game if this situation is a deal breaker for you).
Considering I'd pay as much as a straight female and I'd get less out of it, I don't see what's ridiculous.
Though apart of the minimum for the sake of giving everyone an option, it's a story of two straight men and their straight relationships...
Maybe more diversity in writing room could bring some broader perspective.
If I remember correctly, Gaider's (The lead writer's) openly gay. (PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.). The majority of the writing staff is women as far as I know. I'm not sure if a lack of diversity would be the problem here.
We can’t wait for November, when you can finally meet these characters, help them tell their stories, and explore this enormous game with us.
Mike..
Thank you.

I don't really care if a romance I am pursuing is bisexual, because it doesn't affect me.
I'm talking about the amount of characters I'll romance. That's 2.
Fine at first. But when you see that straight women get 4, then that's not fine.
I agree and its especially annoying because they had extra development time and instead of dividing it the straight females got it all
I'm not only talking about the straight males, what about the gay females and gay males?
you know the world is going downhill when guys start companying there isn't enough girls to bang in their video game....
Yeah, because -THAT'S- the point. If you didn't get it, don't play witty.
Bioware has been making games for 14 years. Just because you don't know the history doesn't make the history irrelevant.

That's not logic. That's not being able to stand that someone is in better situation than he is. I'm afraid your explanation will not get through.
Look, I'm really unhappy with the distribution of LI's too, but to try to make a case for how you, as a straight male player, are being treated like **** is kind of silly. You should just say what you mean: You want to have the most options in the game and, if you don't get it, you will threaten to boycott.

Pateu, I don't agree with your stance, and I don't think you're going to back down on this, so I'm just gonna agree to disagree and drop the argument with you. I'd rather not drag this topic into pages of argument with one person and multiple other people.
BLACKWALL!!!! YAY!! Now I have a straight romance for one of my human female Inquisitors!!
The fact that they hope that they tank.Considering I'd pay as much as a straight female and I'd get less out of it, I don't see what's ridiculous.
you know the world is going downhill when guys start companying there isn't enough girls to bang in their video game....
complaining* fixed it for u ^-^. also yeah, soon pigs will fly and i'll become a billionaire.come on guys, im also disappointed but i'll never say that im treated poorly by the dev. thats just stupid
That's not logic. That's not being able to stand that someone is in better situation than he is.
Better?
That's an understatement, considering they have DOUBLE the options and three times the EXCLUSIVE romances.

I'm certainly not going to boycott this game just because I'm pissed at the Romance options its only a nice feature for me
but what Bioware did is unfair thats just a fact
