They are still there. Just because they're racegated doesn't mean they disappear.

Let's talk about full romances and how half of the straight male options aren't even going to be in battle with you or have party banter.

They are there but they are restricted for more than half the races. There is a difference.

also, you aren't mad at the fact that there are more female options, you're mad that they finally gave women who want to romance men a little extra with their prolonged developement.

And furthermore for a medium in which women are barely even acknowledged, this is important.

Plus, the likelyhood that Cullen and Solas are LI because of some grand imbalance scheme is close to 0 (actually, it is 0). They are a result of extra time, buget character design, plot and consideration.

If I remember correctly, Gaider's (The lead writer's) openly gay. (PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.). The majority of the writing staff is women as far as I know. I'm not sure if a lack of diversity would be the problem here.

You're not wrong. Gaider is gay. Ladies are present on the team - more than at most gaming companies.

I don't recall if there's any out non-straight woman there though. But you're right, it wouldn't necessarily change much. I just wonder why with their extra time they could only think of as it seems such heteronormative stories. It's also weird that DAI is going to have such overrepresentation of men compared to women in companion department. There were no more ideas for interesting female characters?

It's a shame how this turned out. I'm talking about certain peoples' reaction, probably including mine idk, and the inequality present in the game.

Whelp, there's nothing we can do about it now. Thank Bioware for this awesome game and pick a romance option to devote yourself to.

I personally can't decide between Josephine and Cassandra

I think the main reason people are a bit annoyed is because the two bonus romances were given to straight women instead of divided equally. However they did say before that they weren't basing sexualities/availability of characters on how many everyone would get so some inequality was bound to happen. I'm just sad that it affects me :P

You can change race and enjoy the game. It's different from changing your character's sexuality.

And double the amount of romances with 3 times the amount of exclusivity isn't a little extra.

4 romances out of 8 is 50%.

2 out of 8 is 25%.

That's not a little extra, that's a huge extra.

Yep. They're giving women twice the options despite them already having more in DA2 and just as many in Origins.

Generally when people are upset about their number of options in a game it's because throughout other games/media they're been routinely erased or ignored. You're not upset because you feel this way, but rather that you don't want another group to have more options than you do just because. I think you'll probably have to expect most people to not take your complaints very seriously.

This is how my elementary students think. I can't say the parallels here aren't both amusing and sad.

Equal options in DAO, More options in DA2 and double the options in DAI, I think our annoyance is justified.

Dunno, I'm getting lots of responses and notifications. Surely that means some agree with me and some don't.

And it's not about feeling left out. Again, if straight females had 2 options I'd have no issue.

But they don't. They have twice the amount I have. Bioware's catering to them despite the past 2 dragon age games having MORE straight female options than male options.

So you can't say Bioware made them feel left out before.

As a straight guy I have to say you don't account for everyone

I really couldn't care less about who gets what. I'll play female characters on my second run in most RPGs

me neither but they were more like a last resort for me I mean I'm sure they are great but I was hoping for others (Solas and especially Blackwall from the men and Vivienne and Sera from the women) but it was just not meant to be

I'm especially disappointed that Blackwall is not bi after the Solas reveal I was thinking they would go either with Vivienne (which wouldn't have been that bad) or Blackwall as bi ...

Well I will be hoping for some unique gay options in the next game

Understandably so.

Gays of both gender and straight males have 2 romances each.

Straight women have 4, twice the amount more than anyone else.

I would've preferred it to have been dividedly fairly as well. But the tenacity with which some man children are using this as a "help! help! I'm being repressed!" soapbox is mind boggling.

Heterosexual male interests dominate media, entertainment, fashion, religion, laws, politics, and more, worldwide (give or take thousands upon thousands of YEARS).

Lol!

Remember, You can't answer years of inequality with more inequality. That's why we're a little upset and to be honest it's entirely justified.

The DA team didn't make them feel left out. Bioware in general did, witht the more recent example in ME3.
