Seriously?  I thought I just explained this to you too.

You weren't "filled with rage" this morning when you said that you only cared about yourself and wanted to get the most options.  That was before they made the announcement.  Then, magically, after they made the announcement, you decided that we should all be equals.

Your story would make sense if I didn't already know the facts.  Since I was having this conversation with you this morning.  It was me.  I remember.  And I'm a pretty smart guy, so I can piece together a timeline, even if I didn't have a website filled with timestamped messages from you.

Saying that I only cared about myself is pretty darn rage filled. Do you think I honestly think about myself only? I'm not a sociopath. Yet I have of course been the subject of hatred on this thread for quite some time, Sadly we can't have a normal debate about these things.

I'd like to cut a deal with all the angry straight dudes in this thread: I will side with you and argue that you deserve equality here - if you will then accompany me to the discussion forums for every other game ever created where there is an imbalance in romance options and/or a lack of representation for a particular gender or sexuality, and put in an equally impassioned argument for equality on behalf of whichever demographic has been cheated by the numbers there. (Spoiler alert: it's usually women and/or the LGBT community.)

I mean this is clearly an issue of critical importance to you, so we should be fighting for it everywhere, right? Otherwise people might think you don't actually care about equality at all and are just out for your own interests. But I'm sure that's not true at all! I bet you'll be a great help in the fight for equality now that you actually understand what women and the LGBT community must endure in the vast majority of video games.

On a separate note, congrats to those who got the LIs they were hoping for, and condolences to anyone who missed out! Personally I'm kinda disappointed that you can't romance Cullen as a male or Cassandra as a female, but I get 8 options, so I can't really complain that much. And I've been waiting for a chance to romance Cullen since DA:O!

I wouldn't call Assassins Creed fantasy rpgs..?

Even if I am unaware of someone in another fantasy rpg, its still took BW long enough to give us a black woman in DA, arguably the premiere fantasy rpg video game. Hence why me and so many other ppl were pretty excited by Viv's introduction.

Ooh, are we pointing out black females in fantasy games?

Dynaheir would like to say hello!

She's super relevant because not only was she a black female mage with an accent, but she's also from a Bioware game!

Step into my shoes for a moment, I've spent the last 6 months in my house. Does that clear it up?

No not really.

Of course it is. As a feminist, I weigh 600 pounds, hate fun, have never shaved my legs, and hate men. It's not about the fact that he's a hilarious, parody of a parody, A Grade Butthat. It's because he's a man.

Likewise. You wouldn't believe how many bras I burned this morning. Then I sacrificed a man's tears to the goddess Athena in order to ensure men get less options than women.

That would be too much awesome for one game. They've only got a limited amount of awesome in the budget and have to save some for their new IPs

At least we might get him in the next game, never lose hope ppl!

Why not both?

Both could be true. It could be possible that 51% of the gamers who played ME are male and 49% are female. It could be true that 55% are female and 45% are male. My point is that saying 83% of gamers played a male Shepard does not necessarily correlate to one sex being more likely to play the game than the other. As your response was an attempt to discredit the idea that  45% of gamers are women, it's not a leap in logic to conclude that you were saying more men played Mass Effect than Women.

It seems that in your effort to be all inclusive you have actually made your core audience (heterosexual males) into the minority group.

BioWare's stated intent has always been ensuring each combination of gender/sexuality had multiple options. Anything past that will depend on the particular story they are trying to tell.

Having said that, I am pleasantly surprised Blackwall is in. I was expecting Vivienne, but am not disappointed. This opens up the possibility for her mercilessly ridiculing my Inquisitor's flirtation attempts, which - let's be honest - is at least equally entertaining to any potential romance arc.

deserve equality here

I'm not mad, I'm glad to see Bioware trying new ideas... but why would we deserve it when every game till this point has been in our favour?  Curious.

I get what this post is saying, I just think it would have made more sense to reveal all the romances at once. I mean, I get trying to generate hype and all, but I think if Bioware had presented the romances like this with "6 core romances and two side/limited romances" it might have saved a lot of grief for fans and the devs by extension.

This whole thing reminds me of the trolls who don't realize how a name change doesn't hide their true selves.  We know who you are, your asinine arguments, roundabout, inane arguments and name history lets us know people.  You aren't hiding very well.

Strictly playing MMO's on a console vs playing an MMO on an iPad does not make one a more superior gamer (deserving of more privileges) over the other. That "true gamer" argument needs to be shot in the face and tossed into the river..........

Do not put words in my mouth, I never said anything about "true" gamers. I said that the games that sell the most are mostly directed to men. It's absurd to think that actions shooters and sports are played by an even percentage of men and women and these games make the 70% of the console sales in a year (I did some fast research for the number, could be a bit off).

Who is the "true" gamer is irrelevant. But using the "45%" from wikipedia to make an argument is stupid when you know that a big percentage of these gamers play on platforms that are different that the ones that we in this forum should care about.

Keep doing this, and you'll make me give up my closely-guarded Likes..

I've never been more devastated to have run out of likes given how good the arguments against some bonehead logic have been.  See below:

Yes to the first part.  I do think that you only care about yourself in this instance.  I don't think it makes you a sociopath.  I think it makes you selfish.  Either that or you had "internet muscles" this morning and were trying really hard to be an internet badass and now you have to backtrack hard.  One or the other.

And no one hates you.  Or at least I hope not.  It's a message board.  About a video game.  Hate is a pretty strong emotion.  Strongly dislike your arguments?  Yeah, sure.

If you think female gamers aren't in a minority, you're delusional.

If you think it matters, you're an idiot. (Not aimed at you)

I prefer playing female characters because I find it easier to be a bad character for some reason.

This was not intended to be an us versus them argument. I was trying to point out why I and others are annoyed but of course not a single one of you could listen to any of our points.

Considering you are talking about including romance options for a 3-5% group it is fairly irrelevant to even consider it in most cases.

Exactly!  I actually feel bad about it sometimes.  They are used to just trying this on other kids.  They aren't used to people actually paying attention.

No I was and am annoyed because no one likes less choice, No I don't only care about myself, in fact I'm even more concerned by the fact that straight female characters get so much more choice than every other group. No matter what you say in the end my points still stand. I and everyone else is allowed to be annoyed by this outcome.
