I just want to say one last thing in this thread. Most people weren't mad because of the difference in opinion. Most people were mad because the way that those differing opinions were handled and how some of them appeared a tad bit hypocritical.

If certain individuals had conducted the debate a bit more maturely, than things wouldn't have gotten so heated.

I don't think they were ever really that heated. Except from the one guy who was attacking feminism for some reason. But because he and I were both annoyed about the result I was lumped in the same camp as him, So the last few pages have been people attacking my opinion and then me defending it. So no I wouldn't say it was heated. I'd say it was more misunderstood, both sides have valid points but neither side saw that, Now sadly that included me and I apologize to anyone I annoyed with my thoughts but at the end of the day we all have the right to voice our opinions. Anyway I can't wait until DAI comes out and I don't have to socialize anymore.

Anyway after all that unpleasantness I would like to say that I am incredibly excited for this November, I think I'll most likely romance Cassandra first if she can get past my evil mageyness.

...Is it safe to emerge from my Anderson shelter now?

Blackwall, eh? Interesting, although I felt for sure it was going to be Vivienne as a human-only romance.

Anyway, it's nice to finally know the last of the romance options and how the race-gating's going to pan out. I'm still a little bummed out about Solas, since I have no plans to roll a female elf at *any* point in the near future, but them's the shakes, I guess.

I think we've all had a chance to vent, so that'd be a yes.

It seems that in your effort to be all inclusive you have actually made your core audience (heterosexual males) into the minority group.

Play as a female and romance a male.  That's what we women have had to do for years--play the opposite sex.

I was horribly pouty when it looked like the Mass Effect thing was happening and this was going to be another guys world so I can be gracious enough to say I understand and also selfish enough to say...women should get a turn.

I wouldn't blame bioware if they decided to treat romances like the elder scrolls series because some of the comments here are a freaking nightmare

I would, it's a cornerstone of their games, would you blame Bethesda for taking out the open world element in The Elder Scrolls?

Hmm, I am not sure how I feel about the romance options. I normally just follow the story. I remember the first game I did not even know I was romancing anyone until Morrigan, and that was almost at the very end of the game. :)  I am hoping that the fact they put emphasis on the word "core" that there are some other romances that might not be as detailed, but still interesting. I had a feeling that Vivienne was going to be left off the list. If you are playing a straight male you did get less of choice, but at least you know. Lol, maybe we can have a romance with Aveline with this time. j/k

I am quite pleased with the options. So the extra two are for females only..... just roll one up instead.

My female elf will be very happily getting mobbed. :D

(im not a female player, fyi.)

This romances feel like Bioware tried, but failed.
Only one m/m option if you don't like Iron Bull (no, not everyone does, he's very special) and i am kind jelly of the Lesbians who can romance Sera and Jo. Two really, really beautiful girls. And we gay like 'na, Dorian's handsome don't need another handsome guy'. Ahum....

And i read 'equal' or 'balance' in the first post if i am right?
I am sorry... I can count and i hope Bioware also can count.. this isn't balanced at all.
I wish they had made it like DA II and no one would complain about the romances.
*still for Solas Bi romance*

Totally serial, but with elves they're all androgenoel anyway, can't you start with the female "base" and make it flat chested, short haired, and give it a guys name and pretend its a guy?  I used to do that with my Barbies..

I'm really not being facetious.  It's your fantasy.  Look at Thranduil, you could EASILY make an elf character that no one could be sure who it was--its your mind and in your mind make it male?

Elves are the only ones you can do that with, so...

I'm grateful for Bioware for adding all kinds of relationships.

I'm personally a little disappointed at the m/m choices, though.

Iron Bull is disappointing (for me) as a pansexual choice, specially after Zevran. I wish there was a bi/pan guy that I actually liked, but oh well. I'll get over it.

I'm very happy about Dorian, though.

I'm interested to see more of Josephine as a character too, As we already know quite a bit about Cassandra.

So anyone still hoping for Empress Celene as a non "core" romance. I always felt they could have given you more Queen Anorna dialogue in Origins, or at the very least Awakenings.

I see a lot of these "who deserves extras more" arguments, but both sides essentially favor equal options for everyone in most cases. Can't we just (mostly all) get behind that goal and hold the line that nothing else besides equal options is going to be satisfactory? Equal options for everyone should be the goal. It's what the vast majority of people I've seen on the forums support and it's clearly going to be the only fair distribution. We only get these long, drawn out arguments because Bioware refuses to balance the options. Maybe doing so isn't always the easy choice, but I think it's the right choice and that it's worth digging a little deeper to make it happen.

That's a comprehensive set of romances.

Since I started really following Dragon Age a few months back, the cast of Inquisition has grown on me. Cass, Ironbull, Cole... they look like fantastic characters, I can't wait to meet them, even if not in a romance capacity.

The amount of work put into this... just, wow... I am super impressed. There's always going to be that grain of salt, someone somewhere not able to have what they set their heart on, but I think making the call to gender/race gate specific characters was the right one, and not including others as romances at all is also a tough but necessary call, in my opinion. You can ask me about it if you like.

On that note, and I say this knowing it will be buried and lost in the pages of this thread, but I would like to ask anyone feeling betrayed by whatever news/decision to please take a step back, these aren't political decisions; granted, equality is absolutely a part of the goal here, that is obvious, but what makes the best game, the best story (what is best for a character's story) may not, and in some cases obviously has not fallen in line with what you may desire. I sincerely doubt any of the nays or gated options were easy decisions, and to assume there is any kind of exclusionary agenda is an appalling stance. Let’s remember the incredible amount of dedication and love poured into this game over the past few years, all in an effort to give all of us the best possible experience.

That is all.

First, how is that at all disrespectful to say to use the modeling tool however you want?  Transgender individuals feel that their insides and outsides do not match, so that would not apply to them.  They would pick (if they felt like playing their gender) the gender they are.  A FTM would pick M and an MTF would pick F.

I'm talking about nuts and bolts to a guy who wants same-sex with Solas.  This is a fantasy and the character modelers are pretty intense.  You can make them look however you like and think whatever you like about them. Just like with any other "model" you have a base and can change it.  That's not a slap against anyone.  Elves are the most ambiguous and are easier to use the M model for F and vice versa.  They're not "human" and the same rules would not apply.

How is that at all not how fantasy should be?
