That decision was made a year ago, when Solas and Cullen had long been written and were straight characters who had been straight for years of development.
How were they supposed to keep the options equal when none of the remaining character's open to becoming LI's were gay or bisexual? It was having them as gated extra options for straight females or not at all.
You misunderstand my argument, but regardless, if this was then case, then they should have picked different "extra" romance options.
I am not sure what exactly he meant but I think since it was a 3-3 ratio. The extra should have been 1-1 as well. equality in 4 males being romanceable and 4 woman. Beyond that and sexual preference wise I dont know, but yeah .

For once I didn't consider all of the possible positions he may have been arguing from, and just focused on the more common (in this thread) of equality from a straight male perspective.
In the case of the 4:4 (yes it was 4:4) ratio, yes there was equality to an extent, but I have a feeling that the personality of both Solas and Cullen played a major role into their addition to the romances. As such, their inclusion may be more to widen the range of available personalities more so than equality.
Anders again?! Ok......group or team Anders and Oghren through most of Awakening, will see that Oghren brushes away Anders. They basically are getting flirtations. I didn't pay attention to them before DA2 then noticed a great deal after, and that I didn't use Oghren much. Justice was a better tank to me.

It was extra straight options or none at all. There were simply no other characters with a large enough role. And if the options are more content or less content then I pick more every time, regardless of who gets said content.
Also, before I take off from here for a short bit...
When seen a kissing scene with main character and companion, not of the sex you prefer.....example... Fem Hawke and Fenris, but feel weird about it, then that moment is you being Fenris kissing Hawke... that isn't difficult is it?
Further, if removing those two "extra" romances would have meant a return to the all Bisexual format, i would have gladly made that sacrifice.

Do you think Cullen is more of a dog-person or a cat-person? Being Fereldan I imagine dogs but who knows, maybe he likes horses.
You know, I think my Cullen-mancer will be an FMage Trevelyan who has an FMage Amell and and FMage Hawke imported from the Keep, so that this way, female mage humans have been screwing with Cullen for over ten years (one of them applied the literal sense every now and then [ok, no, it's gonna be often]).
He's probably gonna facepalm so hard if all three of them share a room with him and they are all gonna call him a dork (fingers crossed for living-Warden with an option to have them be around for a bit - well ok, I have more reasons for wating that but this is a fun one)

After looking over some of the flak Allan Schumacher's getting, I'd just kinda like to quickly throw out that I'm a heterosexual white male gamer, and I didn't once feel insulted by his comments on this thread, I never felt like I was being punished when Mike revealed the 'romanceable list', and I firmly believe that I am in no-way being negatively 'short-changed' by the developers.
I understand and respect the notion that some people (particularly heterosexual white male gamers, it seems) are not satisfied with their 'choices', but I don't appreciate the manner in which, by virtue of my being a heterosexual male, I am being dragged into the vitriol of some poster's Royal "we".
Peace & love, yo' - BioWare and Allan love everyone; the straight, the gay and the Bi! (And all other denominations and nuances that may fall under the banner of 'sexuality'. These three just happen to be a little more relevant)

Cullen being Cullen? At one point, I think he'd have been someone who enjoyed smaller Animals. Being inside the Circle - you know? I'd love to give him a Pet like Sir Pounce a Lot.
And I'd personally load in my Fem Warden, Male Hawke - because I think my Male Hawke teased him about liking Hawke's Cousin. Sarcastic Hawke, Flirtatious Warden, and a (Somewhat) overbearing Inquisitor. I can see the Plucky, 3's Company sitcom now!
On that last note, I'd certainly hope so. I've a few friends who'd appreciate being able to do that.

If we did all bisexual romances, you'd have 4. Let it be stated in no uncertain terms.
