The hilarious thing is we still don't actually know if "Aimo's version" of blackwall is actually canon. I wonder how blackwall fans will react if he turns out to be completely different to their preconceptions...

Interesting that Cullen (and Solas) are considered more limited in scope than the others. In a Gamermd83 interview with Cameron Lee and (sorry, another dev whose name escapes me) the lady dev said she saw a folder with a heap of Cullen romance arc scenes and binged on them all.
If his romance is "limited" relative to the core cast, it makes me wonder just how big the core ones are?
Previous romances have been limited to what...one or two scenes? A bit of dialogue nuance?
Limited by the gating not the romance content

They are limited in scope only in that they are restricted to certain races. Hence the "otherwise, they are the equal of the other romances."

I would say it would have been better to do it all at once or not at all, and not announce ANY romances prior to release. Either that or simply not do romances, which gets tempting at times like these. Either way, I'm glad it's finally done, rather than leaving people to set their hearts on characters they haven't met yet only to be disappointed.
Oh. I hope you guys don't get rid of them. They are a fun add-on to the gameplay. I guess when Bioware decided to incorporate romance into games, they didn't realize what they were getting into! lol

Two options:
Straight Male, any race
Gay Male, any race
Gay Female, any race
Three Options:
Straight Female, Human
Four Options:
Bisexual Male, Any Race
Bisexual Female, Dwarf or Qunari
Straight Female, Elven
Five Options:
Bisexual Female, Human
Six Options:
Bisexual Female, Elven

I have no problem with the listed romances I do hope female players and certain internet 'oh woe is me' all females will acknowledge they are getting their due or more than their due regarding romances.

Well can I just say that I (and many other people) are really grateful that you actually go to the trouble of adding these romances, it allows us to see depths of charaters the otherwise we would not be able to see.

As one of those 'hetero males' it's a good list lot of variation there for any one, and frankly I'm tempted to step out of my normal comfort zone, been wanting to for a while, but on DA:2 Anders blew up the chantry so I ended up not doing it, and in ME:3 I just prefer the romances you build over multiple games. Anyway all this is to say.... yeah bring it, maybe by play through four I'll try something new for me!

I remember posting a joke in the Solas thread that Female Lavellan could end up with an unwanted harem. It seems I wasn't mistaken
Lavellan: "For the love of the Creators, wasn't it enough with those gifts in Wintersend? What celebration is supposed to be today?"
Varric: "It's Satinalia, sweetheart. A day for wild celebration. And in full Antivan tradition, there's also a masquerade ball. Scribbles' idea."
Lavellan: "And? That doesn't explain why everybody is looking at me with strange eyes!"
Varric: "Well, some boys and girls would like to know who you are taking to the ball. As a partner, I mean. Ex-Templar boy, the Qunari, the Warden, the Fade expert, Lady Scribbles and our little elven troublemaker (not you, of course) have expresssed some interest in your answer, if you know what I mean."
Lavellan: "And you?"
Varric: "Sorry, sweetheart. I have another appointment."

I think those comics becoming canon is probably the best thing to come out of this. :S

This means that of our core cast, Varric, Vivienne, Cole, and Leliana are not romance options. While we know this may disappoint some fans who were interested in them, we don’t believe that they lose out, as each character engages in their own meaningful story.
I can't wait to see what Leliana has in store! Frankly, she's the romance option I wanted in DAI. But since we can't have that, it would be fantastic if we are getting something that we can be really involved with, that has some impact in an interpersonal way.

Yeah, I am a male hetero myself so sorry if it sounded like I was grouping all hetero male players into one group.
You guys should have been upfront with this info from the start.
Especially since you yourselves have designated some romances to be "core" and others "extra."
I thought I didn't have to worry about yet another male being straight, but here we are with 3.
As much as it might have been nice for them to have been upfront from day one I can understand why they didn't. It's all part of generating that buzz, and well LI's did generate said buzz. Folks like those here in BSN will talk about the LI's when they are revealed elsewhere, and other stuff, and so it keeps it growing at a steady rate. I'm glad they revealed the basics through in advance.

And Blackwall is a romance? That's a big surprise. Despite being set on certain characters right now, I may change my mind when I meet them in game. Can't wait to meet them all in November.

I know that we all grit our teeth and cower at times like this but it would be such a huge shame if they weren't included, I even think those that are the most vocal about them would most definitely agree with that.
