I know rape doesn't often have that effect but everyone's different and stuff
I don't know maybe that's really stupid....I guess then she'd be a possible asexual romance
It's just quite a lot of circle mages are raped, aren't they? Maybe I'm wrong

(romances done)
Ever?
In order: Viconia, Aerie, Anomen, Aribeth, Aarin Gend, Valen Shadowbreath, Carth Onasi, Bastila, Alistair, Morrigan, Zevran, Fenris... and now Dorian and Cassandra.
I just had to respond to this- I play BG2 regularly and I had no idea you have written Viconia romance... I'm a gay male and Viconia is still my favorite character story-arc/romance (despite being over-the top D&D), with great writing and generous amount of content (which is not to say I do not like other characters you mention). I know this seems ridiculously over-due, but it does influence my expectations of Dorian. So, here is to Dorian potentially dethroning Viconia ![]()
More OT: I'm glad you have decided to make a final reveal and I appreciate the manner in which this has been done. I kind of hoped for bi Blackwall (because you know, why not bathe in choice
) BUT I'm very happy as things are. Representations goes over the wide spectrum, everyone has CHOICE- not just an option and characters have their own preference (although I'm not averse to DA2 "everyone's available" approach, videogames are capable to be flexible simulators after all).
I'm sorry to see you dealing with (IMO) unnecessary and baseless outrage, I hope the positive reactions outweigh negative and you realize people still appreciate your intentions and work. In the end, Bioware has been quite the risk-taker lately and I hope business confirms your strategy.
In the end, none of the characters we think are great (or even the game itself) may turn to be to our liking at all. I won’t lie, the whole package looks promising but it's best to withhold the judgments until then.

Welp, came in here to rejoice at Cass not being race-gated but instead find myself to be fuming from Allan's diatribe against straight white males. I didn't even care that straight males didn't have as many options as bisexuals or gay men or females but with every post Mr. Schumacher makes, I'm becoming increasingly convinced he has a serious chip on his shoulder against straight white males. And for the love of God "white male privilege" should never be a term used seriously. I can't speak for BioWare's intention on making the romance options for this game. I can't speak for what they had in mind when deciding on the ratio there for gender availability. That would be a bit presumptuous on my end. But regarding Allan's posts? I find them offensive. Gravely offensive.

'Normal orientation' 'old and ugly'
Oh Christ....
I really never understood where people come from with those remarks.
I mean, the women of DAI, while still unique and varied still basically conform to modern ideals of beauty. The only traits that aren't Barbie-perfect are: Cassandra's gaunt-cheek look. Which is GORGEOUS. Look at actresses today and tell me that isn't true. She's a warrior but she's still got a moderate build. Viv's amazing cheekbones (they could slay me) again, traits like these on RL people look damn fiiiine. And Sera (which isn't even available for men) is the cutest nugget I've ever seen, droopy eyes and pouty lips. Josie has the facial structure of a goddess.
None of them can even be remotely called "unattractive".
Whereas the men in the game, have far more varied physical attributes. Bull has an almost debilitating scar (depth perception is affected when you only have one freaking eye) Blackwall is an old bearded dude whoose age is close to my dad's (kinda ew at that) and Solas, however perfect his skull may be is damn bald (which is a taste for some but not that many) and also kinda old. Dorian is a moustached glory and I'd find it creepy on anyone else, delicate balance there.
If anything, and if we consider "modern views on beauty" as a reason (bullsh*t), then it's the men who should have been criticized. And yet they aren't. Why do you criticize the women so much more harshly?
Cullen could be considered as having the typical young action hero traits.

As long there is a reason, then I'm perfectly fine with it.
It's better then no reason and there is always fanfiction.
Also it's good you can keep your cool one these forums it's not easy after all (the understatement of the month).
There is always a reason for everything (to do with game design).
Whether or not people agree with those reasons is another thing entirely.

Seeing as he was responding to even more offensive posts...
Although, if you ignore the context of his posts while taking offense to them then that's your own little problem.
Of course, we can always blame it on the multiplayer... ![]()

Allan -is- a straight white male, and he's just as entitled to his opinion as you are. I personally am always very impressed by his stance on acknowledging his privilege, and his willingness to learn from the feelings and experiences of other demographics.
I understand that WMP/SMP are terms that can seem hurtful. People in privileged groups often do not feel privileged and they often feel under threat from other demographics, too. But privilege isn't a matter of personal feelings and opinions, privilege is reasoned and determined by statistics, and statistically straight white males have more ease of access to opportunities than other demographics. On an individual case-by-case basis there will always be exceptions, but facts are that in general SWM are more privileged than others.

I don't think you can have a chip on your shoulder against someone. I don't think that's how shoulder chips work.

I'm pretty sure that it is more akin to fighting a forest fire. Sometimes you have to burn down a line of trees to stop the fire from spreading. However, you aren't looking at the whole situation with a rational outlook. You are looking through hate goggles that you put on after your first post, so your view is a little askew. Please take your needless hate toward a suprisingly accepting moderator else where.
P.S. The word "bloody" used in the context that you have used it can be offensive to some european viewers. Please refrain from cussing on this site.

By the Maker, if they give Cullen and Shmooples dailogue - I'd die... Like, the happy kind. Anyone and Shmooples would be awesome. Assuming she still has him.
If my Gay, Melf quisitor can't be Sassy/Sarcastic - I'll be sorely disappointed.

It isn't offensive if you make unless you interpret it as such. Can it be interpreted that way? Of course, but if you look at something enough you can find offense at anything.
As a straight white male I do not take offense at anything Alan has said. Why? Because I do not fit into the group of straight white males that he is addressing.
Then again, are you suggesting that Alan use completely politically correct language in each of his posts?
Ah, so I guess I should "check my privilege" then and just shut up. Is that what you're saying?
You should attempt to understand the point Alan was making.
If you somehow associate yourself with the group that Alan is addressing just because you are a straight white male you are really misinterpreting his statements.

I'm planning on doing a male two-handed qunari warrior for my first playthrough and I'm planning on romancing Dorian, but there is a seriously solid chance that Iron Bull might charm the pants off of my Inquisitor.....literally. In which case, Dorian will be my second playthrough (male dual wield dwarf rogue).

He isn't...I'd like to make one of my typical sardonic comments, but I shall decline.
I know how to read between the lines. The point Allan was trying to make (particularly in the post he made when the topic was locked) was essentially "NOW THE SHOE IS ON THE OTHER FOOT! HOW DOES IT FEEL STRAIGHT WHITE MALES?"
It was insulting. And yes, I chose it interpret it that way. It's all subjective anyhow. If I interpreted that way, then clearly he didn't convey it right.

I hate to say it (much shame as I am a straight white male), but he is stating facts. In one of his posts he also stated that straight white males still have to work hard to do great things. So that sounds fair, but you cut the last bit off. You're just looking for someone to hate, and poor Allan happend to be the guy in power you could bash on.
