How many of you feel like being put in the "Bioware Zone" (can't romance "x" because of Bioware)
...the only reason I can romance anyone in-game is because of Bioware....
In DA2 I had no romances, Isabella was so promiscuous for my taste, and Merrill was SO UGLY and immature. At least Cassandra looks like a strong and intelligent woman, not so pretty, but I hope she have a little bit of charm.
I actually liked both Merrill and Isabela's personality, but I drew the line when it came to their relevance to their story. I had to choose between an notorious pirate that because of her actions caused Kirkwall to burn when she could have stopped it, and then later she happily makes an deal with an slaver to get what she wants, never mind her lovely flashback during the comics. And the other option is an blood mage that tampers with killer mirrors, make deals with demons and potentially gets her whole clan killed because she just doesn't know when to give up.
I have an big problem with Cassandra because of how I fell about the Chantry. If I romance her, I would feel like I'm stomping on everything I believe. So it all boils down to Josephine, who so far I don't find particularly interesting in any way.
not me Because DAI is a role playing game so I intend to role play.
I think you are my new favorite person. I know I role play to leave my normal mundane life behind. So the more different from the I role play the more of an escape I find.

Something we can agree upon....finally.
I can see where that would be viewed as inappropriate, but I think that was the point. And his tone made it clear he was just taking the pi$$ cause it was getting past her stern demeanor. *unladylike snort*
Haha, lets hope I actually get to it. (and please, I'm the classiest after Viv)
Well, at least he's discovered the Lamp-post now.

He can take the ****** *All* he likes, as long as it's not near my boots.Or I'll Take those Antivan leather ones away!

How about a more positive look on things? I can romance X because of Bioware. There are still a lot of options for either gender in the game.
There are always characters in games that you'd like to romance, but can't. There is no way to please everyone. I would've preferred Vivienne being an option, but we still have a very interesting character with her. She's not out of the game, there's still the friendship path. Plus the Grey Warden angle could be quite interesting with Blackwall. Also, on the plus side for me personally, now that Vivienne won't be an option, I won't have to choose between her and Josephine. ![]()

Is that not the of the role playing game my friend. ![]()

I could write a thesis on the relationship between the rise in popularity of role playing games and the advent of the millenial generation. There's a distinct connection there. But that is a story....for another time.
Something occurred to me that I haven't seen anyone mention yet (although I also haven't read all 54 pages). Originally, straight ladies would have had Blackwall and Iron Bull... who was race gated at the time when they would have been deciding what to add with the extra year/resources. If they hadn't had that extra time, straight ladies may have been short changed yet again. So it makes sense that they would have tried to even that out, and since both Cullen and Solas were also going to be race gated, giving us 2 extra (but restricted) options wasn't so overkill. Then Epler did his hero thing, made the IB available for all, and straight girls wound up coming out ahead.
I am sorry for anyone who didn't get the romance they were hoping for, but I'm also super confused. We barely know these characters at this point, and in many cases don't even have great pictures of them. Don't reject them before you even meet them!
Personally I am beyond excited. I can't even begin to decide who my first love will be; it changes daily. November can't come soon enough! ![]()

This. Well said.
It's not like DAI started with everyone being romancable by everyone, and then the devs starting cutting content until we got the current list. The romance options are _additional content_ to the game, and because of Bioware straight males get to have 2 nice romances (including one by the lead writer, no less).
Never at any point was it decided "let's take awake straight male options", after all.

But he likes those boots so muuuuchh. I would feel like such a fiend to keep them from him (also a good romance gift)
I'll add you to the list *Mordin-esque sniffs*
Hey, come on that was subtle and classy, you can't deny me making a good Lamp post joke.
And I'm sure even M-wardens had a lil' crush if they were so inclined. He's a fine specimen and fun to be around.
Also, I'm glad to see people talking about their possible future romances and it's pretty cool that the number of possible Inquisitors matches up to the number of Romances. I might try to match them so I get one of each (and throw in an ace later)

Just because they call call it "extra concent", it doesn't justify one group getting twice as much content as any other group. Firstly I was just a bit dissapointed about getting only two choices, but to honest, I don't care so much for romances. Actually it would the first major feature of the game I would remove and spend the ressources on non-romance character interaction content. But I find Allans comment offensive. He is basically saying, that because straight males were favored in past bioware games (and in the society, but let's just talk about games) they have to suffer now and as a nice side- effect they will finally know how other groups felt before. I would just like to know, if this is the official Bioware policy on this subject and if we can expect this kind of view in future dragon age games?
I agree its very unfair
I really liked everything I have seen so far from the game and I will definitely buy it BUT they really screwed up with the Romances this time with favouring straight females and screwing over all the rest (not only straight males but also gay males &females)
Would it really have been that bad to make Solas bi ? or Blackwall?
Nope not according to Bioware it seems one group is always favoured instead of fixing it with DA:I and providing equal
options they just moved the problem to another group great fixing Bioware!!
Yep I'm still pissed and Allans comment didn't make anything better
Just because I can escape real life and roleplay a character in a game doesn't mean I should hit everything that moves and expect them to jump me because I'm the PC.
It's like going on the internet and complaining someone rejected your advances in real life because you're not their type.
The internet would crash...Everyone will panic...And no one is gonna be posting on BSN.
Is that what you want?

I hope you are aware that a post with a question like that only makes it more likely that they will start to forsake romances all together because of possible political backlash. They gave us extra content. If you don't want to take advantage of it for personal reasons then please do not spoil it for those of you who will.
On a side not I have to agree with him. We get a lot of love, I don't see the harm in sharing some of it.
no they didn't give US extra content but only the straight females the rest (the straight males and also the gay males & females were screwed over)

And yet I actually find Solas romance interesting now that hes gated to female Elves and making him and black wall bi would not have solved the problem at all Technically.

We have not been screwed over Grow up with the "they have more candy than me crap".

Yeah, you definitely have a point. I thought about going back and adding gay men into all of that (since gay women weren't affected by IB being made more available), but then breakfast took precedence.
Oh and I should stress that I wasn't trying to say that Bioware was only trying to keep it equal, but rather that it wouldn't have been so hugely disproportionate as compared to straight male options.

To clarify I'm sure the romances we have will be great, especially Cassandra
I REALLY HOPE you are right

I'd feel like a fiend if I took the Dalish leather gloves that remind him of his mother. I couldn't do *that*, totally fine making him go without his boots. He'd probably find it a kinky punishment... Nevermind then.
Muahah, your Lamp post joke was quite classy - just being purposely snobby. ![]()
My Dalish or Mage might have had a crush - since he was so charming, if a little air-headed. The whole
