As a straight male witch is what you have implied you are (sorry if I'm mistaken, but my point is still relevent to any sexual prefferance/Gender), yes it is US. It was unplanned content that was added after the release date was extended. So yes it is extra, and at some level you have to realize that you are guiding a story. Even as a straight man you can run a character that is any gender and sexuality by creating a role or frame of mind as so you can make their decisions in a way that is interesting and makes sense for the unique character you have made. So please understand that it is a matter of perspective. You say less content, but I look at the additions made after the delayed release date as gifts to encourage players to experiance playing something that may have been outside their perceived comfort zones.

Actually I too believe that the mustached man was trolling you. We can definitely agree on things. I just reacted harshly to your approach, not that your opinion. If you came in said something positive, then followed with gentle critisim such as "I know you intended well Allan, but your personal view on straight white male supremacy offended me. Please refrain from stating personal opinions that may offend certain parties." I would not have said a word of objection. I have a knight complex, and tend to try to come to the rescue when I see a hostile approach... So sorry for the strong reaction.

I'm actually bi but thast not important right now

and I understand your point seeing these extra romances as gifts but sadly not for me and I certainly won't roll

a female character just because of romance

I'm just pissed that they favoured one group with these extra romances there was absoluetly no reason to

maybe as payback for straight gamers who got more in ME 3 but about the gays and lesbians?
Instead of making Solas bi or something like that we get two more options but only for straight females..ughh

Well, this has to be one of the worst train wrecks I have seen in a long time.  Terrible part of all this is I can't stop looking.  Hopefully they will lock this soon so I can stop.

All these arguments on who got less and who got more seem so pointless now. It is what it is guys. straight men did not get slighted by having the same amount as everyone else. And straight women got a few more options, yes. But it's not the end of the world.

Straight women already had more options in DA2.

I understand that you would be content with DLC romance then?

We haven't even played the game. I know you're upset, but making ignorant comments like this does not help your case. :?

it would have been interesting to see how the response would be if the extra romances were only for straight males..

I would still be pissed (seeing as I wanted more bi options) but many many female gamers who are saying to others that they should stay calm would rage

as an additional romance? sure, why not? It's not that straight females had less content than others without Sebastian....

I'm sorry but I whole-heartedly disagree. I'm SUPER disappointed that I'm getting less options than straight people again, but I'm not being punished. That's a weird mentality to have about this. One group got extra. That doesn't mean the rest are being 'punished'.

I think you should hold your judgment until it becomes known how those advisor romances work in action. Since there are valid reasons to suspect it won't be as good experience as during companion romances.

What really bugs me is the way writers are being treated like Pez dispensers. The goal is to tell a good romance story, not to fill a quota.

to be fair, I don't think the advisors will be as bad as in ME3. Let's wait and see. I think you'll have them from early on, they cannot die till the end, they seem more plot important than some of the companions. But that's just my feeling.

The only reason the advisor romance may not seem to have much is because they don't always follow you. But what if you have options to have them tag along from time to time, like in Redcliffe?

But I do not understand why they're pointing him out as obvious advantage since you did not have him unless you paid extra.

well, I would pay extra to have an additional romance...because I really care about romances and I like multiple options.

I am disappointed in Blackwall.  I expected him to be the older, mentor type who wouldn't have been so cruel or irresponsible as to pull a Thane on someone else.

Ah well.  I didn't romance anyone in the BG series, I won't miss it here.

I don't remember paying anything extra, wasn't that DLC already in the box?

Ah, so the mask comes off. So what are you saying is that, so long the straight males get less, all is good, right?

Then I hate to say it but you are personally gating the extra content. As Leldra stated they are rewarding mentally flexable people, not a specific gender or race. This has nothing to do with other games. The biggest problem with making Solas bi is they already had his character's backstory. The had undoubetedly either finished or been well into his writing, and likely has some Voice Acting done for him. To change something so fundamental about his character at such a stage would weaken him as a person. That and I believe that someone on the romance pannel at GaymerX said it best when she said "bi isn't a compromise".

Listen, I am sorry that everyone is upset by their "lack" of options, and I certainly haven't read the entire thread but seriously people... you have the freedom to play other games. I'm a straight women, and I won't even claim to have it as bad as homosexual players because OMG but my options to experience a romantic story in a game are EXTREMELY more limited than a straight man's. You know what? It sucks, just like this game might suck for you but it's not like there are no options at all.

I saw a few people mention ME3 so I might be restating a point, but in ME3 when straight females complained about being limited to potentially NO options at all people went on and on about how it's optional content and stop whining and blah blah blah. How is no options there LESS UNFAIR than 2 options here?

In the end, you can make the choice to seek out any of the hundreds of other places where you are still big men on top. The very fact that you're so upset by the inequality yet some of the same people are first in line to come shouting at the "feminIsts" or who just write them off completely for bringing up the inequality they see in gaming is quite honestly flabbergasting.

I'm sorry you didn't get the options you wanted, I really am, and I am not trying to write off anyone feeling let down but to act like this is some attack from Bioware is silly. Honestly Iron Bull and Blackwall don't appeal to me yet (visually, since we know almost nothing about them) so I'd have been upset had they been my only options as originally planned. That's my problem, not a display of unfairness and personal hate on the part of the devs.

And what if not? Right now we don't know anything, but it's valid to suspect we will only see them in short periods of time between missions, basically long distance relationship, making it automatically a lesser option than romance with companion.
