I've seen a lot of his concept art - and while I love the appearance he'd got in the game, I liked a lot of it more. Then again,  it's not all that easy for those things to happen.

Spoiler

The concept art had him look older and he almost had stubble. Or the one with the blue tatts. All very pretty.

You're not butting in - we kinda got to talking about the actual topic while everyone was arguing, and we're just sorta trying to keep the topic on track. Things that pertain to DA:O/DA2, and will transfer into DA:I.

Spoiler

Yeah, very sorry about that. It can just be hard hearing people bash a company you have loved since Baulder's gate. I did see some of your posts though, good stuff.

Where are you guys finding all this MMORPG stuff? I would love to check it out! (If I'm interrupting, plz let me know and I will butt out.)

Spoiler

It's ok, you can butt in if you like

Here Heroes of Dragon age

It's for Iphone and Android, I was mistaken.

It has a new design for a "slave Fenris" skin, a bit controversial.

Huh, are they gonna add DAI people to this thing? Ot the LI's? (in the future, or another app?)

For me, to be honest, I'm tired of all this romance blabbing. Yes, they are important element of background and can really add to a game, BUT for me it's pretty wrong to speak of Inquisition only because of romance options. This is the part of the game that has been hyped the most and I cant find a reason for that as we are speaking about a game that has an open world, interesting backstory and probably tons of gameplay to offer.

Yes, I would like to have an opportunity to romance Sera because I like cute elven girls and both Cassandra and Josephine seem unatrractive and a little bit meh for me. But if I'm going to play the game without having a romance for my straight male Inquisitor then it's perfectly okay for me as long as I wont have to avoid gay advances from male part of my team game long, like I had with both Cortez and Anders in ME3 and DA2.

I don't think that the people who are pissed want to buy DA:I because of the romances that wouldn't be right

they are a very nice feature but I'm hyped for the game because of the story and the open world aspect

Hell if I would play the game for romances I wouldn't buy it anymore after this unfair treatment

This might be the first Bioware game where I won't use the romance feature but I'm glad that the game has SOOO much more to offer

Doesn't the same count for you?

Shouldn't you 'hold your judgement' until you've played one of these 'advisor romances' and compared it to one of the 'core romances'?

And might I ask what those 'valid reasons' other than some suspicion are? Please with references to where any of the developers said something.

I refered to definitive statement that we don't have it any worse. Not just "most likely" the options we got are not of any lesser quality, it was stated like a fact. Meanwhile I, while speaking about my concerns, always point out that there is possibility I could be wrong. But I'm pessimistic because till now, everything turns out (as for me and people in my situation at least) just as I predicted.

As for the valid reasons to suspect advisors won't be as good as companion romances - well, the very fact they are not companions, so you only see them during short periods of times between missions. And the history of similar options in other Bioware games doesn't speak well for those romances, something even you admit by saying that they "felt like side-romances".

You're not suffering. You're getting the same amount of choices you've always had, and the same amount as lesbians and gays.

I feel like this needs to be quoted endlessly.

Bummed no Vivienne or Leliana those were the two I was hoping for. Oh well they will be fun to still interact with. Cassandra or Josephine is the choice now. Leaning towards Josephine since she is closest to what Leliana would be.

Woot! You are the second one I've seen who wants a Leliana romance too! :D

No one can quite replace her in my books, so here's hoping she has a great friendship arc.

I'm torn between all the lovely ladies and gents. But Josephine does look better and better as well.

I'm surprised that Blackwall ended up being the final choice, but I'm pleased, not because I'm particularly interested in the character, but because it means all those people who were insistent that he was too old to be a possibility were proven wrong (I always thought it was funny that such blatant age-stereotyping could live amongst all the talk about gender and sexual representation).

And reading through the first half of the thread, I'm baffled by the guys who think that the lack of female romance options for male characters would would have a sales impact when the vast majority of people who play the games don't use the romance content at all.  Most people just don't care.

And beyond that, I was of the impression that when Bioware has shared stats on past romances, my impression was that the ones chosen weren't proportional to the demographics playing the game - I've always taken that to mean that more people are willing to play a variety of options and not just their RL equivalents.  Provided the rest of the game holds up for that many replays, I see zero reason not to play through all 8.

That would make this conversation way easier to follow. We have Sera being adorable and some brilliant (because it came from Just.someone2) ideas for what would be awesome if you take a long time deciding what to say to a LI!

But as Jtav and several others have pointed out, you haven't even played the game yet. So you can't possibly know how good/bad the 'core' romances are to warrant stating they need more time on them.

Obviously i can't judge the level of  quality of the content until i play the game. I can only speculate based on the past versions and their previous rationale for this based on it being optional content. I just view it as very strange choice to spend additional resource on one narrow group.

Well, ok, let's play a guessing game. What would the other LI's (or even other crew members/advisors) reactions be?

(I mean, we don't really have anything else better to do, arguing about inane things is annoying. Might as well make up silly and cute head-canons, even if they might turn out completely and utterly wrong)

I would like to think they could get *that* in depth, but sometimes my controller/mouse dies, or I get called to do a quick errand, maybe I need a drink. I suppose I could just Alt+Tab out and pause, or Hit the center console button on the controller.

If enough people wanna join our musings under the spoiler tag I think we can drop them, no?

I concur!

Spoiler

I think It would depend on the situation. Like, if they were trying to ask you a question or make a move, and you ignored them. Or perhaps they might think you're deep in thought.

Though Solas or Cullen being disappointed in me would be painful!

Imagine IB waving a hand in front of PC's face and asking if you're "having a moment" (after like 5 mins) or "am I really THAT attractive?"

Yep they get twice as many options than anyone that's not a human female and she gets one less than them.

I went to sleep so I had to catch on the twenty past pages. Sheesh, BSN will never change. Always the same toxicity even if we went from the black to white. Anyways, I'm not really complaining about the romances because chances are I'll never romance Cullen (hate his gut) and Solas (don't find him appealing at all). I think out of the six others romances, I'm only interested in Iron Bull, Dorian, Blackwall and Sera. Cassandra looks too butch for a straight woman (this comes from the perception of a gay man, just saying and sorry if I have too much stereotypes for your liking) and Josephine... meh... I don't feel her for now. I'm only going to do Sera because I like her attitude and wanted to play a lesbian inquisitor to begin with. I'm bummed that Blackwall is forced to be straight, as I imagined him bisexual or something else.

Or Viv eventually harrumphing silently and walking over to her desk cause she's got actual sh*t to do while she waits for your eventual return (and if you don't she just walks away)
