I really hope there is some kind of dialogue to why Cullen is not into Dwarves, Qunari i get... the whole kirkwall thing, but there need to be some justification in game.

Kaidan and Anders still have a sexual attraction to men. They're not asexual. They may be pansexual, but they definitely have a sexual attraction to men. The relationships are pretty clearly sexual in nature. But I agree that many of these options have their own sets of problems. I was talking specifically about masculinity/gender issue concerns. Cortez is the only other actually gay male that I'm aware of as a LI, so it's hard to judge how gay men specifically are going to be represented on the whole when it comes to masculinity. That we're working with only one other character for comparison is, in itself, a bit depressing. 

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I never said they were asexual, in fact, I'd vehemently oppose it, but having sex with a man doesn't mean that you're attracted to him. And it's also possible to be attracted to behaviour, not just gender. I saw Kaidan as a straight man who fell for a long time friend. He had sex with Shepard simply because he likes sex, not because he's attracted to men. And it's entirely possible, as a friend recently demonstrated to me, for a straight man to be attracted to a singular person who is not a woman, but again, that's likely through behaviour. (He literally did a brain scan and everything).

They fell in love, tried for a relationship, and after four year, his brain registers his partner as "attractive", when he had not three years previous. He identifies as straight because his brain literally makes only one exception. He finds his fiance sexy, because he loves his behaviour, or because he wants to. Sexuality is a bit more fluid that we care to admit in some circumstances. That being said, another participant went through a similar test after being in a similar relationship after 5 years and there was no change.

 

Love is weird like that.

They have that stupid tat on their face (that the devs won't bother telling us what means when we pick it so yay). So I'd say they're decently dalish.

 

Though playing an Andrastian dalish that only stayed with the clan because they couldn't make it on their own (or maybe they had a younger sibling that refused to leave with them) would be different. Depends on how anti dalish your dalish can be.

Personally, I didn't see Kaidan's relationship that way, but without confirmation, I suppose it's personal perspective. David Gaider has said more than once that Anders was written from early on (in Awakening) as a bisexual character. So, he is definitely bisexual.

1st. He found a singular man attractive, compared to hundreds of images shown to him of men who both are similar and dissimilar in looks, and multiple (upon multiple) of women attractive, and that result was one took 3 years of living together, previously, he found neither his partner, nor the other men attractive. He identifies as straight. 

 

2nd. I'm not going to argue any more about this. But I will say that categorizing people like that, without knowing them, or taking what they think of their sexuality in mind, is a bit wrong. People exist outside of the many boxes we have. (I, for one, really identify as bent, but it's so much easier to say gay so people can understand what I mean).

Sounds to me like he's in denial about his bisexuality. He's clearly bi if he likes a guy. He may heavily lean towards liking women but he still likes guys.

Personally, I find the discussion of gender and sexuality relevant to these types of threads, but the other romance topic got closed for similar discussion, so I suppose you're right in that its not really an appropriate thread to discuss.

He wore a helmet with nodes on it. They scanned heat waves/neuron impulses coming from his brain in reaction to images on a screen. In real time. And note, I said that Anders, to me, was portrayed as panromantic. Though I suppose presented would be better. No matter Gaider's intentions, he didn't come across as sexually attracted to men to me. Doesn't mean he isn't bi. But I'd love for a 'bi' guy like Anders to actually call a mHawke sexy. That, to me, changes the presentation of sexuality (but has nothing to do with validity as a bisexual). The reason I frame it as such, is that stereotypically masculine men often are often not seen calling a male hot or sexy, and that bothers me.

 

Also, maybe it's a good time to stop talking about this.

I totally disagree with your assessment of the m/m options.  Dorian is amazingly handsome and dashing and his moustache only enhances that.  Iron Bull is a giant massive hunk of muscle with a scruffy beard.  They are both handsome and I can't wait to romance them.

 

But this is all subjective so your opinion is as valid as mine.  I'm bummed that you feel the need to mod away Dorian's stache, but it's your game, so it doesn't really affect me that much.  Just felt the need to offer a gay counterpoint to your gay point.
