hey David, any chance we could get a pirate themed outfits in DAI? or is that for DLCs specifically?

I have not yet seen or heard anything pirate related. so I'm wondering.

I thought the 'bonus' romances...(to me bonus means extra.....) would be Cullen and Solas.....since UT it was noted that those two were 'added in' when DAI got extra development time.....

The gay and lesbian romances don't come off as 'bonus' material with that information. The two extra choices for certain female races does.

Yes, I agree. Mike was pretty clear that the "core" romances are Cass, Sera, Josephine, Blackwall, Dorian, and Iron Bull.  Solas and Cullen are the "bonus" ones.

DLC Romances sadly don't seem cost effective unless it's an entirely new character ala Sebastian,

When I found out Cullen wasn't a party member.

Mind.Blown.

As I have been saying: Expecting Bioware to ever make more s/s LI's than same gender ones in their broad-appeal games is asking for too much.

I'm sure at least one game will some day, but it will more than likely it be a game focusing on romance content and aimed specifically at people who want to play s/s romance content.

Yet, they costs the same amount of money. I wouldn't call them a bonus, since they're full fledged romances.

No they don't, because the cinematics don't need to be done for every type of Inquisitor.

In Solas's case only the female elf model will need to be given animations for the romance scenes, and Solas would only need one set himself.

Nop , Solas and Cullen being race gated + straight reduce the number of cinematics.

I suppose the most expensive to make (time/money) are Josephine and the Bull.

okay, than in other words: they said they'll have the same quality.

Of course there's apparently no difference between those "core" romances and "bonus" ones.

Well, I'm a bit disappointed to hear that having a single game (not necessarily an DA game) where the "bonus" romances are for gay and lesbian players is considered to be "putting the cart before the horse".  I suppose I understand; it's not like Bioware intended to become the primary source for LGB sexuality storytelling in video games.  It must be frustrating to feel pressure to have so many expectations from a minority group pinned on your product.  In general, it's probably better than the opposite, in the long run, but it's not like it's Bioware's main purpose as an organization.  I guess I just have to recalibrate my expectations going forward so that I don't become continue to be let down time and again, when it seems like I was understanding Bioware's stance differently than they intended.

If I may ask, what did you think Bioware's Stance was?

I wouldn't call the bonus either, but they cost less, due to the cinematics. They cost less than the straight and gay romances, and Solas cost less then Cullen.

They are full fledged romances, but they're called "bonus" (used lightly) because they wasn't in the core romances

Why should there be any difference?

The word bonus means "something extra or additional given freely", which is exactly what those romances are.

I'd rather spend some money for romance if I liked character than armor package for example. Varric for example would be on my shopping list depending on race-gating. And people spend money for dating sims so why not extra romance content? ^^

I think part of why it's disappointing is that, even though we shouldn't depend on Bioware to be the one game company to do it (to give gay/lesbian players the 'extras' just once), the fact is, waiting for any other game company to even catch up to where Bioware is now will probably take at least another 5-10 years. And that's me being optimistic. If any mainstream, AAA game company was going to do it, was going to have at least an equal spread, it'd have been Bioware.

I guess instead of hoping for equal (or extra) romances, I should shift gears and instead just hope for more representation in general (ie seeing more unambiguously LGBT characters in the world in general and not just in our party). That, I feel like, is at least more likely to happen? There's even still the chance it might happen in Inquisition.

So think of Solas and Cullen as like romancing Diana Allers...

And there is one flirt

I know English isn't your first language, but Patrick was joking.

Sorry to be a buzzkill, but there's no bee romance in Inquisition.

That's probably a bit of a stinger.

Hey, there's no reason to bee mean. Why do you have to harsh her buzz? Maybe Patrick was just pollen our legs, but I, for one, would love a bee LI to call my honey.

*sigh* no Vivenne then. Oh well. Guess it's gonna be between Josephine and Cassandra.

A bit dissapointed but romance matching won't be what make or brakes this game. Just remember BioWare that while female fans are the ones talking about romances the most, the guys like variety too ;).

I thought that Bioware was actively trying to have more equal amounts of options for LGB players.  However, it sounds like I misinterpreted "increased" representation with "equal" representation in the romances.  I assumed that we would not always receive less content than straight people, but it sounds like the options are "equal" content or "less" content in each game, which ultimately aggregates to "less" overall.
