A year ago, I wouldn't have cared one way or the other, but now, I really would prefer if they nixed brothels and related themes altogether.

There's always been both male and female brothel workers in DA. However you know that's not a substitute for a romance right? Your whole interaction with them consists of one cheesy funny line and a fade to black ("looks like we have a hardened adventurer here"). Also why are you capitalizing words at random?

Looking at the romane options for straight male inquisitors i agree. But I don't think a red light district is good enough, A brothel within skyhold would be my favoured solution.

I feel that it is necessary to point out there are many different variations within Feminism. For example they are some feminists who are anti-prostitution and some who are for it (as long as it is done in a safe environment for the women) 

 

Personally I see no issue with brothels or strip clubs in games as long as there are prostitutes or dancers of all genders and as long as the prostitutes aren't seen as disposable (because sex workers have to put up with enough of that IRL and in other media)

 

Of course a brothel doesn't substitute a romance in a game.

 

I can understand not being interested in the straight male romances, since appearance is personal taste, however I wouldn't right these characters off just yet, perhaps once you meet Cass and Josephine you'll change your mind

 

This could also be an opportunity to role a character you wouldn't normally role, perhaps you could romance Dorian or Iron Bull or even role a female Inquisitor.

I don't particularly care one way or the other. My first Inquisitor is likely to die alone no matter how the game goes. I might even prefer some other form of entertainment. Do we get to visit a bar? Theatre? Opera house? Fancy club?

 

And if lust and love are the issue, I would probably prefer NPC flirts and flings to a brothel.

Can I just focus on this part for a moment? As far as I've seen so far there is a lot of wilderness, a few villages and the wreck of Redcliffe. So no major town or city this time. So to be honest a Red Light District  may not actually make sense.

Well-said.  I wasn't going to touch this thread with a ten foot pole, but you've eloquently explained what I didn't want to deal with.

 

OP, I am a feminist, and I always liked the brothels in the DA universe.  They're well-handled (other than Serendipity, which the devs acknowledge), populated by both genders, and the staff we see have their own personality and agency.  

 

And if a 5-second scene and a fade-to-black is adequate replacement for a full romance for you, then by all means.  Knock yourself out.  Just don't complain to us when your character wakes up next to two nugs who won't look you in the eye.
