As the title says. Bioware points are apparently now worthless in ME 3 Multiplayer, because you can't buy any of the multiplayer packs using Bioware points.

As of the 1st of September, 2014, attempting to buy packs with points results in the instant error "Something has gone wrong with this transaction. If you keep getting this message, contact customer support."

EA Customer support has a bewildering variety of answers that basically boil down to "We're not responsible, it's someone else's fault."

And they say the problem is on Bioware's end.

So what the heck is going on?

Edit:

Since apparently I have to put the updates in the original post or no one reads them:

Update:

You still cannot buy Veteran Packs, Premium Spectre Packs, Equipment Packs, Reserves Packs, or Arsenal Packs with Bioware points.

You *can* buy Spectre Packs with Bioware points.

"Bioware points will no longer be used to buy DLC *for future games*"

"List of supported games: ME 3."

Spectre packs are not DLC.

It is not possible to use Bioware points to buy Spectre packs anymore. Directing me to an irrelevant post did not help with the problem.

I am just as frustrated with Bioware, Origin and EA about this. The game has been out for two years now, and you STILL have problems with a central part of multiplayer. Yes, the packs can still be bought with in-game credits, but you have to go through a fair number of matches just to get a single Reserves pack (99k credits vs. 240 Bioware points). What really get me, though, is that I just dumped some real money to buy a large number of Bioware points, and now I find that they are useless to me.

Same problem, ea support doesn't help me anymore, their advisor told me to go on ea forums for a response from the community... am I supposed to laught?

No solution yet apparently...

Just once when attempting to purchase a premium spectre pack the origin overlay opened with the origin shop finally allowing me to buy that damn pack but it did not work

BUT, yesterday i had the Geth Juggernaut AND the Volus engineer TWICE in a simple spectre pack WTF!

It comforts me... a lot

See you in platinium guys !

PS: I think the problem is Origin (it is unfortunately the answer of to many problems)

Actually, it's that every entry except the one for Spectre packs has been removed from the Bioware points store, server side.

It would occasionally let you 'buy' a PSP, but the purchase would never go through or be acknowledged, because the code no longer exists to allow it server-side.

The problem is this:

The MP store actually sits on your client computer. That's where it does all its calculations. That's why buying with credits is pretty much flawless. The only thing it has to do with the MP servers is update the manifest.

But Bioware points don't sit on your client computer. They sit on Bioware/EA's server. To buy with Bioware points, the client has to connect to the Bioware store, verify the points are there, deduct the points from your balance, and then do the calculations clientside to figure out what you got, then connect to the MP server to update the manifest.

The extra steps and the generally flaky nature of the connection to the Bioware/EA points store, meant that it was unreliable before. And in late 2014, some intern got into the Bioware points store code, and gutted all the 'redundant' ME 3 Multiplayer 'buy this for x points' entries.

Client-side, the code hasn't changed. It still looks like you can buy things other than Spectre packs with Bioware points, but it's a lie. The code no longer exists server-side to allow it.

If it's such a pain, you might want to just stick to buying packs with in-game creds.....support for the MP ended ages ago and i'm sure that they are not going to do any major fixes at this point.

KInda silly since it sure sounds like people would like to give them more money.  Having the same problem.  Just started MP on the PC and would have like to start off with some stuff...oh well. :)

It doesn't take long to get some usable stuff. I started an alt on PC earlier this week and after only a few days I have my commons maxed and most of the uncommons, plus a few rare characters and weapons. A handful of bronze games, then a day playing silver, and now I'm in gold and occasionally plat. Other tips are to use whatever equipment and consumables you have, don't worry about running out because you won't. Also, Mantis.
