Man, this is going to be kind of rough for my Inquisitor. I'm a anti-Tevinter slavery-hating  pro-elf liberation anti-Circle human male mage who despises the Qunari religion and hates the Templars with every fiber of his being. He's not too fond of the Chantry either even if he's Andrastrian. I'm also not a big fan of Orlais and politicking.

I have the sudden feeling I'm going to be the Anders of the party.

The friend nobody actually likes.

Or, hell, worse, I'm the Morrigan!

How do you see your Inquisitor getting along with everyone in your group?

Moderate to good depending upon the person we are speaking of.

My planned first Inquizzy more or less just wants to return the world to how it was.

I foresee much hanging around with Solas, Cole, Varric, and Sera.

Dorian: Tevinter can be redeemed.

Me: Met some Tevinter. Dude, they really can't.

Dorian: *glare*

Vivienne: Mages can accumulate power as a group in the system.
Me: We really can't nor should be.
Vivienne: *glare*

Cassandra: *stabs book*
Me: Meep!

Cullen: Mages are dangerous but Templars need to understand they're human.
Me: By being stabbed in the eye by a mage!

Iron Bull: Could I send reports to my superiors?
Me: So they can prepare for the destruction of all freedom on Thedas?
Iron Bull: More or less, yeah.
Me: Well, at least you're honest.

My Inquisitor will try to get along with the companions, although some of her decisions and views may cause some friction.

Nothing wrong with Morrigan or Anders Willow, do it!!

Only people my canon main will probably have issues with is Cass, Vivi, Sera, and Varric. My mage is gonna be more chaotic neutral I guess, I don't feel the need to save everyone and the chantry and certain templars can get bent.

I'm honest as well; There isn't a solution that will make everyone happy, you cannot erase history, nor can you erase a thousand years of preconception or religious dogma.

So yeah; Bring on the Viviene's.

They at least accept the reality of the situation, You cannot stop some form of circle from being present.

Might as well milk it a little bit.

My Inquisitor won't get along with Solas, Blackwall, Cullen, Cole and to a certain extent Varric. She'll be cool with everyone else though.

I'll be playing as a politically neutral character on my first run... he will have no agenda besides staying alive and maintaining his newfound wealth and power, and will tend to gravitate towards whatever factions seem the most stable in the long run.  This character's alignment will be lawful evil, so he may find himself at odds with Varric, Sera, and Cole (possibly others) depending on the situations we will be facing and how well he can hide his true nature and goals.  I also don't plan to make much use of espionage on this character, so Leliana may get upset when he repeatedly refuses to follow her plans... we'll see how that goes.

There probably will be some friction with Leilana, Cullen, and Cassandra with my Human Inquisitor who's not into the Chantry or the Maker.

I hope we avoid a Tallis situation with Vivienne. I want to call her a sellout.

I'm not going to go out of my way to be enemies with anyone, but I foresee these people yelling at me at some point: Cassandra, Vivienne, Cullen (and maybe Josephine or Sera, but I really don't want them to so I'mma try to avoid that) :P

The vague outline I'm thinking of for my female Qunari is going to be a Qun-hating, snarky and cunning sellsword who loves her job and revels in the fact that she isn't a priest or a shopkeeper or whatever 'nonsense' the Qun would have had her doing if she grew up there rather than the south. She's pretty much neutral in most political affairs without any real conviction in anything, and would just side with whoever would be most beneficial for her Inquisition. She won't be entirely without conscience, but she'll take money over principle any day - unless it involves selling out her homies. You'd need to make a very good offer for that. Outwardly, she'll be rather likable, so she might get along alright with most.

So, from what we know of companions...

Iron Bull and her will probably hit it off just fine. Probably become merc homies.

Blackwall seems to be the noble, honorable type, so I imagine there will be some clashing ideals here and there.

Cassandra, same as above. But I think I'll probably figure out some way to get a mutual respect for both of them.

She might get along with Varric. They both like to talk, both like money...and while Varric is probably a more morally good person that she is, it's not like I plan to make her kick babies and burn down puppy shelters or anything. And what Varric always seemed to hate most was betraying friends, which isn't something she would really do. If he managed to become besties with sarcastic Hawke, he'll become besties with her.

Sera and her will probably have similar fun-loving personalities, but I imagine she would frown upon the fact that if there was a situation where Inquisitor had to choose between lowly peasants and nobles she'd probably choose nobles, just because they'd give her a heavier coin purse and more soldiers and the like.

Dorian...I don't know. I guess they might be cool with eachother, sometimes?

Same goes for Solas. I don't think I really have his moral code figured out.

She'll probably get on with Vivienne alright. Other than the fact that Vivienne seems to have some very heavy convictions while Inquisitor will have pretty much none.

Well think about it.

All those Dictators were loved back when they were useful, you know funneling the islamic radicals and fighting communists but once the cold war ended and the west no longer needed to fear the USSR jacking the sandbox for oil they became liabilities.

The Inquisition will only be tolerated as long its useful.

Take that lesson to heart.

I think each one of my Inquisitor's will get along, at least with their chosen A team.  I doubt they can please everyone, but I doubt I will have too many out and out enemies.

He will be generally irreverant, but pleasant. I expect the most friction with Vivienne, but I generally think he'll be friends with everyone. Both of my other characters managed 100% approval with the entire party.

Mage moderate inq
Cass: lovers and his sound board when overcome by emotion
Solas: mentor
Sera: younger sister relationship and best friend
Vivienne: political ally and close friend
Blackwall: respectful and source of old people stories
Cole: younger brother and student relationship
Iron bull: drink buddy and comic relief
Varric: moral compass
Dorian: theological rival but close friends with some sexual tension
Cullen: military advisor and sparring partner
Lelianna: second in command and moral booster
Josiphiene: playful flirty relationship but like brother and sister (like morgan and penelope from criminal minds)

Will the companions react differently depending on the Inquisitors origins? Like if he's a mage or a Dalish elf will Cassandra be offensive to him because he's an apostate or a heathen? Or if the inquisitor is a Vashoth or a dwarf, will Iron Bull and Varric be welcoming to them? I realize it's up to the player to decide how they act with the companions, but if what I understand is correct and these are all indepth and well thought out characters, how will they react to the player?

I do find it ironic that my Inquisitor is going to be such a source of friction with everyone else because I fully intend to play him as a Lawful Good idealistic social crusader for the downtrodden masses and champion for the underprivileged.

Sort of Andraste 2.0. except a dude mage.

I'd say he and Blackwall will get along well but I'm not sure my PC thinks the Grey Wardens SHOULD break their neutrality (see Sophia Dryden).

Which is all kinds of hypocritical.

Well, they could do that as far back as DA:Origins so I don't see that as changing.
