Tomb Raider was also the only game i liked last year so it is getting very hard for me to find Western games that i like.
I will get Civilisation: Beyond Earth and TW3 and hope DA:I is good but cannot find many western games that i am looking forward to.
I think i will also get the PS4 to play some of the JRPG’s as they are looking good so far.

Tomb Raider was developed by Crystal Dynamics, which is an American company. Do not give crappy SE credit when they don't deserve it.

My favorite franchises are usually Japanese - Persona, Metal Gear (pre-Guns of the Patriots), Silent Hill - but I found myself loving western developed platformers back in the Day. Nowadays I'd say the best western developed games are the stand alone ones, or the unexpected gem popping up, or Obsidian RPGs. It's a mixed feeling whereas I find myselft drawn to Eastern developed games.

Once upon a time, I might have agreed. The Japanese game industry, to me, feels stagnant. Back when I played PS1 and 2 there was such a variety of games and they were creating all these new IPs that Japanese games made up the vast majority of my collection.

These days I hardly ever play consoles and most Japanese developers have to be begged to sell games for PC. Square Enix is sitting on a bunch of great IPs but they're so focused on giving FF13 (a horrible game) as many spinoffs as possible. KH3 is the only thing I'd be interested in, but I'm not likely to buy a new console anytime soon, and I haven't been keeping up with the angsty jrock teens and their shenanigans on handhelds.

I may be forgetting one or two games, but I believe Dark Souls and Lost Odyssey are the only Japanese games I've played in the last couple of years that I truly enjoyed.

On the other hand, Western is a very broad term. I think Western games are flooded with garbage, from cash-grab AAA titles to a sea of shitty indie games, with a few standouts, that are suffocating Steam.

I kind of feel like Europeans, particularly central Europeans, are the new pioneers in games or at least a breath of fresh air.

If you already saw that then why the heck are you making such a retarded ignorant post? Troll harder brah.

You wanna talk about games brah? Alright, let's talk games brah.

Who prevented the American game crash of 1983 from happening by offering new, innovative and all-in-all higher quality games to the American public? Oh yeah, that's right, Nintendo. Who set the standards for many game genres that we still play today? Oh right, Nintendo. Who made gaming big and transformed gaming from something only closet nerds enjoy to something for the entire family? You guessed it, Nintendo.

Nintendo is the motherf*cking grandfather of gaming, kid, anyone who grew up in the 80s knows that. Show some respect.

You mad? Or nah?

They didn't prevent the crash from happening, guy. It happened.

Game quality is not defined by region. They might have stylistic differences but I would automatically claim a game is better for following a framework or being from a region

Dark Souls and Persona 4 are the only Japanese games I've liked since... hmm... the PS2 Era....

Wait... Lost Odyssey. That was Japanese... Yes?

Anyways, I find the good ones to be few and far between. Just my personal taste I expect. (The hand holding in Japanese games can get SO FRUSTRATING!)

Western games aren't perfect either but they have been a lot more consistent these past 4-5 years.

European games have had the best upside recently, IMO.

For me I would say I'm looking forward to more western games, but then the only Japanese game I'm really looking forward to right now is Smash Bros. That and Fire Emblem are really the only big ones for me.

As much as I like jRPGs, Western studios don't spread their franchises over multiple platforms (goddamn handhelds), so apart from exclusives I mostly have no interest in, I can pretty much enjoy gaming on my PC.

I am not really sure. The only games I have played in the last few years have been MMO or multi-player focused(Defiance, ME:3 Mp, and FF14). I couldn't care less for any of the new stuff coming out aside from Destiny.

*Minimizes window of PS2 emulator playing Ar Tonelico 2*

I don't give a flying **** as long as I enjoy it, but right now I do enjoy Japanese games, but that's mostly because of a large backlog of them.
