Hey everyone, it’s me again, EA 2D’s own Ethan Levy, producer of Dragon Age Journeys. I have a batch of questions from JonKenden I promised to answer.

Is there any multiplayer?
- The first 3 chapters of Dragon Age Journeys are all single player games.

Are there specializations and how are they implemented in the game?
- The first chapter of Journeys has 3 companion characters that can join your party, each with a specialization. 3 more companion characters, each with their own specialization, will be available in future chapters.

Can we replay the same chapter with the same character?
- We don’t currently support this feature. Chapter 1 has a level cap that I expect most players to hit by the end of a single play through. There is not a lot to be gained by replaying a chapter with a high level character.

What happens at death? loss of xp? restart level? respawning at closest save point?
- Being a flash game, we wanted Journeys to be a very accessible experience. As such, the death system had to be very forgiving. There’s no penalty for losing a battle. You are simply given the option to respawn at your nearest save point. As previously explained, the game autosaves after winning each battle. You also have three server side save slots to store your game.

FamousAspect, thanks!

Do you have a hardcore option for those who want to avoid the ease of use death system?

Should we expect the game before this weekend, or are we best off just holding our horses a bit?

Thanks again for taking the time.

As I said, before. I realize that Bioware is given credit. However having played Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale, and having Played Kotor and Jade Empire. The companies seem to have different styles, and black isles style seems more in tune with Baldur's Gate series.

Nice to see a journeys member chime in, regardless.

Any guesses as to when this will be available? It has to come soon, even a week before the release of Origins seems a bit too late.

I have a feeling Journeys will come out this week. It should, at least. A week before release of Origins is pretty late if you're trying to build up more anticipation for the game and get more pre-orders. More people will be driven to get Origins if they get to play the flash game during this early time frame (if the game's good, of course). That is if the Journeys team decides to spread the game around to popular flash gaming sites. Also, it's better than making die-hard fans wait with barely enough to quench their Dragon Age thirst for the time being.

i would think that if DA:J is not released by Monday 10/26 (at the latest) then they have really hurt themselves. even that late is pushing it. i guess if i were BioWare i would want the flash game out about a month in advance. not sure why they think waiting until a few days before DA:O release is the right thing to do.

whatever the case, i am looking forward to playing both.

Well im sure its to advertise the game to people who dont know about dragon age.It is not for us it is for everyone but us who has already bought or thinking of buying dragon age.So getting it out a few days before release wont hurt them that much.

i guess that was kind of my point.  if it is intended as a marketing mechanism for those not already familiar with the game or BioWare, then wouldnt they want to allow more time for DA:J to "circulate" to build up interest for the initial release?

Some questions:

Can one save the game in a battle or just between them?

How many class-race-combinations are available? (are there dwarf-mages:O)

"The first chapter is free to play," Hawley explained. "For subsequent chapters and the multiplayer version we are exploring micro-transactions. Ad support isn't necessary for us right now, we like keeping the content pretty clean and free from outside distractions."

Oh ho, what's this? "Micro-transactions" to be explored in the future?

Basically, you pay 50 cents or some other relatively trivial amount, and you get something in-game.

They said they wanted to explain some of the lore, not completely ignore it. :P
