One of the greatest questions on DA Lore is; why Dwarves aren't able to use magic? It probably has something to do with the Maker. But when Sandal tells it's prophecy (which became true in Inquisition) he mentions:

"One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were.  The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises , everyone will see ."

It's pretty much obvious that Sandal was talking about The Inquisitor and the fade tear. Whomever he mentions that magic will return to everyone. Since the main character is somewhat special, will The Inquisitor be able to use magic as a dwarf?

1. No. Unless you count closing fade rifts as Magic.
2. Sandal wasn't talking about the Inquisitor. He says: "When HE rises"

I think somebody posted something once about the mage dwarf inquisitor somewhere here when they did something on the main site, and it was something to the effect of the world lamenting it's downfall due to the non-existence of your character, or something to that effect.

Was he talking about the Inquisitor, or the Elder One, or maybe another of the Old Gods? That's the thing about prophecies, they are open to interpretation, and interpretation can be colored by what one wants it to mean.

Oh what a shame. It would be amazing to see templars reaction to it. xD

Templars' reaction? They wouldn't care. They just want to hunt you down even if you're a dwarven warrior.

Before it had a whole paragraph explaining this, ending with "a Dwarven mage has never been seen........................................................."

The fact that Genlocks used to be dwarves and that they can use magic confuses me.

Technically the inquisitor dwarf will be the first dwarf that we know of that can cast magic ie the rift magic abilities.
They can enchant items to give them magical properties by working with lyrium.
Dwarves can use magic as a Templar or Reaver, but they cannot cast magic as a Mage does as dwarves do not have a connection to the fade.

If that makes sense lol

I think sandal may have been talking about the elder one.

Dwarves are incapable of using magic, so no, they'd be crazy to do so.

Oh that's easily explained.

It's the taint. The taint is a powerful source of magic. Being tainted allows the genlock to cast Darkspawn magic.

It's like in origins with the wardens keep dlc, the blood spells avernus can teach you comes from drawing power from the taint.

Are Genlocks actually Dwarves turned by the taint? (I thought Genlocks just came from Dwarven Broodmothers)

Like themageguy stated above Darkspawn mages draw their power from the taint, and lastly...do Genlock emisarries even exist anymore?

Genlocks come from dwarven broodmothers. Anything and everything that becomes tainted either dies or becomes a ghoul.

Yes. The is a good chance we will get to see Genlock Emissaries in the game because darkspawn WILL be in the game. This has been said in one of the gameplay videos. I am super excited darkspawn are in fact going to be in the game.

Genlocks were never dwarves. Genlocks were born Genlocks.

Their shape is determined by the race of their Broodmother, but doesn't change the fact that they are Genlocks.

Yes.

But they won't be a mage.

Dwarves are incapable of casting spells. Specifically, they cannot naturally draw energy from the Fade and shape it with their will. They can use magic. You may recall the Anvil of the Void that captures a dwarf's soul in rock and turns it into a thinking, moving being.

Like themageguy stated above Darkspawn mages draw their power from the taint, and lastly...do Genlock emisarries even exist anymore?

Yes, why wouldn't they?

all you have to do is be a reaver or templar. they use magic. They can't use magic that draws its power from the fade like mages do to the fact that they cannot naturally connect to the fade.
