There should be a peace option when we solve the Mage-Templar conflict

I would love to have 3 options, destroy the templars, destroy the mages or get the moderates to overcome both mage and templar extremist and bring about a co-existence.

This would give me great joy.

whats your point? of course there are always some who abuse power on both sides (we have seen numerous Templars and Mages doing exactly that) but that doesn't mean that there can't be peace for most of them

I imagine that most (on both sides) are just tired they want peace and the war to stop hence the peace talks at the beginning of DA:I there are always extreme people (just look at RL) but that doesn't mean that we should just give up hope

If peace happens then mages go back to being oppressed therefore peace is not viable.

Blood Mage: No please! I'll do whatever you say!

Alrik: Yes! You will do exactly what i say!

Blood Mage: Bloody Mundane curse you!

*Silence falls*  ;)

Blood Mage: Um...Why isn't your blood boiling?

Alrik: I cast silence, numb nuts *He then proceeds to knee said blood mage in the funbags with his armored leggings still on*

Maker! Some bloody fiend has brought Alrik back from the grave!

I know it's a fantasy game, but that's so freaking unrealistic that I don't even want to start.

People with the power will always abuse it, always. It doesn't matter who they are - templars, nobles, mages, wardens, it's just the nature of men. Time will pass and they will abuse it again. Someone will always suffer. Mages, for instance, suffered enough,I'd say it's mundies turn now.

I just couldn't resist.  ;)

Sure, but for a time there is peace.

Jolee: "Look, everybody always figures the time they live in is the most epic, most important age to end all ages. But tyrants and heroes rise and fall, and historians sort out the pieces." Revan: "Are you saying what we're doing isn't important?" Jolee: "Malak is a tyrant who should be stopped. If he conquers the galaxy, we're in for a couple of rough centuries. Eventually it'll come around again, but I'd rather not wait that long. So we do what we have to do and we try to stop the Sith. But don't start thinking this war, your war, is more important than any other war just because you're in it."

of course there are always some

They're not *some*. When a high authority approves of something, it's all the rest need. Orlais and Tevinter are both disgusting, but Orlais doesn't get near as much hate, oddly enough. Like if you don't call elves slaves it changes something.

whats your point?

Point? I don't really have a point, I just want to see all templars dead and gone. It'll be a nice change.

I imagine that most (on both sides) are just tired they want peace

Well, fat chances on that.

I would totally do that if i could just so a little chill could run down the Mage's collective spines.

I don't know if you played Mass Effect but thats just like saying that the curing the Genophage is wrong because the krogans will go eventually crazy (no hope) or that the Geth and Quarians have no future living together and there should be no peace

kind of a depressing outlook on life and people in my opinion

If the templars are more controlled and the Circle is less like a prison and more like a college (where relatives can visit etc.)

I believe there can be peace sure some mages and some templars will do some bad things along the way but eventually they can coexist

no, it was a cop-out for the geth/quarians, and it'd be an even bigger one here

In an ideal world I would like around 7 options.

  1. Kill all mages
  2. Make all mages tranquil
  3. Increase the restrictions of the circle
  4. Return the circle system to how it was before the war.
  5. Relax the restrictions of the circle (my choice)
  6. Allow mages to go free.
  7. Make mages rule like in Tevinter.

However this would take up loads of development time and it would be extreamly hard to make a different world state for each different one to carry on to future games so I would completely understand if we have much less options. Still, I would like at least one compromise option.

I never cured the Genophage :P The Templars had their chance to co-exist and they ruined it, Now they shall feel justice.

Perhaps, but honestly i don't want future installments to just focus around Mages and Templars killing each other off screen for decade after decade.

It can proceed past DAI don't get me wrong, but eventually an accord will have to be reached.

You mean when the Grand Enchanter refused to allow the Templars to take a suspected serial killer, and that spiraled into a conflict that basically no one wanted beyond her and her loony group of toadies.

Seriously do people just ignore the last bit of Asunder or what?

Lambert gave the mages a way out, a way for the system to continue, for peace to endure, stressed as it was, it would have returned things to normal, but no Mary Sue Magee needed to proclaim "where are my dragons?!" At the wrong time and kick off an international conflict.

templars win, its back to the status quo

mages win, they achieve greater freedoms and more throughly integrate into society

then DA:5 will come around and both choices will be retconned

They didn't want peace, who would in their situation? War is the only option.

Slightly off topic, but I really hope I can rock an eyepatch while killing all the Maleficarum. "Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him"

I think at the end of the day your side is dependent on what you care about most, freedom or security.
