I know it's a fantasy game, but that's so freaking unrealistic that I don't even want to start.
People with the power will always abuse it, always. It doesn't matter who they are - templars, nobles, mages, wardens, it's just the nature of men. Time will pass and they will abuse it again. Someone will always suffer. Mages, for instance, suffered enough,I'd say it's mundies turn now.

If there was a policeing force for the policeing force then i think it could work. For instance the seekers punishing templars who Go to far. Ordinary guards still have power over mundanes but (for the most part) they dont abuse it.

I think at the end of the day your side is dependent on what you care about most, freedom or security.

Security is preferable, although I admit I'd like to be on the 'winning side'.

Freedom is preferable, Which is why I support the mages.

What evidence can you present that Templars are more likely to abuse their power than ordinary guards?

I like freedom, but I also like not being toasted by a rogue fireball or having my house torched by demons

I'm skeptical since none of our Advisors represent the mages and most of are party are pro chantry...  :(  Personally I'd like a better balance...  An advisor from both sides, and someone completely neutral to both...

Excuse me, we already have (had) the Seekers. They were just templars on steroids and good for nothing just as templars.

Didn't see any templars punished by Seekers, heard about Rivain circle annuled by them. Ouch.

"Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither", let's not forget.

Can't end the threat of the mages without breaking a few eggs.

Nah, it's about security vs security, that of normals vs mages.

It's about who is dominant in society and who must bear the burden of that dominance, normals or mages.

Said the womanizing hypocritical drunk who had orgies in his basement and used state funds in brothels across Europe.

Mages are superior, Therefore they should rule.

Im not sure there can be peace mages want freedom. Templars want them in the tower where they can watch them cause thats what they think is safe for everyone. Not every conflict can have peace sometimes one side has to win.

Thats what i'm saying, ordinary guards (usually) dont abuse their power so why would the templars? (Sorry if I didn't make that clear)

They don't want them in the tower anymore, that's the point. Now they want them just dead. It's the point of no return because both sides too far gone.

I would like there to be an accord option where both mages and Templars join your side - but I would like them both to be weaker factions than if you picked one or the other.

@DrBlingzle:  Real life guards abuse their power A LOT.

anyone who can manipulate reality is better than someone that can't, very simple to understand.

I know but after the war is done and if the templars win more mages will show up and they will want them in the circle. Unless they just kill all mages they find after the war.

It seems they die just the same as a NORMAL person though when they bleed enough though.

Superior? Superior to what? In what way?

Is the ability to shoot a fireballs superior to that of punching someone in the face? Perhaps but did magic make Emile de Launcent superior to Emperor Drakon? More suitable to rule? Greater at the building of civilizations?

Superior as a being. Mages are to humans what humans are to monkeys.

well if there really isn't a peace option I'm with the templars

the safety of Thedas is more important than their freedom

(I'm still hoping for peace and its not a cop out if the player has made the right choices there should be something rewarding at the end not

some depressing Kirkwall- like scenario where everyone goes crazy
