There should be a peace option when we solve the Mage-Templar conflict

If the game makes me chose - the mages are going back to the Circles.  I can't have people who JUST got their freedom running around becoming little demon beacons and turning into roving bands of abominations.  And blood mages are "kill on sight" for me so I don't have time to sort them out of the rebel population of mages.

That I have to start as a human mage already part of the rebellion irritates me - but I'll live.

You basically ignored the point where JB called into question the ability of the individual mage to even control their magic though.

The fact they can melt themselves with a fire spell sort of sours you huh?

Better to just ignore that can happen :P

That's for the inept circle tutored "mages" I doubt Tevinter would have that.

You mean that dude in the circle's library?

I know you've never noticed or give a f, but this place is a dump. His teacher did a shitty job, they've been scaring them rather than teaching. And not only him, the one that did that shield spell was also miserable. And the older one didn't help at all, just like the other before.

@Pierce Miller:  Yeah, in Tevinter if you can't control yourself you're probably dead at a very young age.  That place is going to be crueler to mages than the rest of Thedas is... mark my words (we already have plenty of hints about this).

Outside of circle apprentices learning their craft, how often do we even see a combat spell like that backfire?

The fact that Tevinter also deals with abominations says otherwise

I've missed something again. What is that you're both talking about?

Cameron Lee has said that Mage/Templar War will be settled early in the game.

Good, that means you get the cream of the crop.

If there's no option for both, I truly hope there's an option for neither.

This. I will not grant either side the satisfaction of believing they were in the right.

There will be no bargaining. They can repent before me, or before the Maker in person

They're just better at dealing with them, in my mind. They probably have ways of dealing with abominations quickly and efficiently. If not, the whole empire would have gone up in flames a long time ago due to the high usage of magic.

Blood magic is in many cases a superior version of the original thing, The chantry fears it for a reason.

The Chantry fears it, because they can't even defend against the damn thing, and also it can be a homing beacon to demons. Yes, it is powerful, but strength like that ALWAYS has a cost.

Circle tutored mages aren't exactly going to be able to properly grasp their powers properly

Yep. Natural selection and survival of the fittest.

Pathetic ones always die, it's a natural order of things.

True, it's brutal but it's how a species adapts and becomes stronger.

Which the Devs have cited more times then you have posts, that that was an extreme for both factions.

Aha, what does my post number have to do with anything? The statement was about evidence between Templar and Guards. Not Templars and Mages. Kirkwall extreme situation or not showed that under strict Templar leadership it is more likely for Templars to abuse their power than city guards. Extreme situation or no there were still innocent mages in Kirkwall and its the job of the Templars to protect them as well as citizens. Blood mages or rebellion be damned if you took an oath to protect mages as well as citizens do your duty. Dont let the blood mages or the actions of Anders condemn an entire circle with innocent mages. Life as a Templar isn't suppose to be oh lets take the easy way out and kill everyone. Yet guards are more focused on protecting citizens than handling blood mages or abominations anyway.

Yeah, my thinking is that you pick your side and then they will support you/give you agents to use for the rest of the story.

*Game starts off with a peace summit, can't make peace after* Booooooo

Unless we can and have to choice only one faction

Could be that the moderates die at the conference, leaving the extremists in charge.

It could be like the elves verses werewolf scenario in DAO, there's a peaceful resolution but only one side joins your forces.

Possible, but it seems unlikely. The reason the werewolves don't join is because once they are cured, they have nothing to offer. Hard to imagine a scenario where that would be the case for Mages or Templars.

Physically and mentally humans and mages are the same except for the fact that mages possess magic, that added plus is what makes them superior to humans.

Don't you think you're oversimplifying this? I mean, one line?

I even adressed this very argument in my previous post.

They still have the bloody right of annulment!

Aka the rite where the Templars kill every living thing in the tower and destroy the circle completely!

Outside of circle apprentices learning their craft, how often do we even see a combat spell like that backfire?

The Scene in the calling where the mage actually kills herself by making a flame spell so intense and powerful it kills her too?

Or the scene in the comics where The Blood mage Titus Basically maims himself to preform blood magic at last second and basically collapses from blood loss?

Seriously, that was a circle trained senior Magi and a bloody Magister.

It happens to ALL mages apparently, if they aren't bright.

If that's the case, then I so hope for the option to beat both into submission
