There should be a peace option when we solve the Mage-Templar conflict

I thought I heard that David Gaider disliked that there was a peace option between Geth and Quarians. I wouldn't expect there to be one in DAI. The most I feel I would want to hope for is to have the option to defeat the otherside without excessive brutality (as in a chance to accept a surrender).

Ugh, I don't even want peace,
I want to create a new order that replaces that old BS.  I do not want to continue this circle templar BS...

I'm sure there's a way to find peace.

Although, I have no idea how that can happen.  but that's not my job so ..YOLO. B)    I'm sure bioware can find (already have) a away.

Minority?  Based on what you're been saying, the average mage is worth at least a hundred "mundanes."  How can you then use small numbers as an excuse for Tevinter's lack of success and progress?

They've been at constant war with the Qunari for years, Remember them the horned giants who almost took over Thedas single handedly. Yet somehow they're being held off by mages.

Dagna is far superior in magical theory than ALL of the mages present in the DA games and books.

Irving:  Magic is MAGICAL!
Wynne:  We just don't KNOW!

Adrian: BLAST BLAST BLAST!

Rhys:  OMG... a demon... REALLY!?

Zathrian:  Magic empowers my FEELS!

Jowan:  Magic?

Merrill:  Mirror mirror big and tall... no, no that did work... mirror mirror hear my call... hmm.. nope..

Anders:  Magic is REALLY useful when you're a total coward!  Let me show you!

Dagna:  Would you like me to go over the formulae I've set forth depicting, what I like to call, Dagna's Theory of Thaumaturgical Reliance and it's relation to the growth and spread of red lyrium?

All the mages listening: ?????

Then its a good thing I view trying to prove anything to anyone who already has their mind set on an outcome or people is completely a waste of time. Kirkwall deserved to burn and the Circle and Templars, save Cullen, Carver, and a few other good ones can perish for all I care. Ill stick with being apostate for life helping myself or citizens who need it.

Why do you think they are few?

For instance, if you send Ella back to the Circle, she'll send you a letter detailing how most Templars were glad Alrik was gone and that they didn't want Tranquility or fighting with the mages, they just wanted things to be normal.

Perhaps it is only a few that are like Karras.

That's just because they don't feel like exerting themselves to conquer the Imperium. Fenris says they easily could if they tried.

You'll excuse me if I don't believe Fenris, He's a bit biased considering he's against mages in all forms.

*hopes adrian is the only one in charge of the conflict*

I'm with him. Best propaganda the Templars could ever ask for.

Hopefully not.

There should be choices and consequence for your action. Either mages become free of the circle or the templars regain control. There can be no compromise!

Since this is the actual topic, I'm going to go ahead and give my opinion... I agree with this wholeheartedly.  While it may be nice to propose a variety of possible solutions, I think that in the end, the mages will either need to be convinced to go back to the Circle or they will be allowed to continue about their business.  In the long run, the Inquisition has no authority to enforce policy changes on the Templars.  Unless we actively take over for them or personally oversee them in some capacity, it will really come down to putting them back in charge and hoping for the best.  If that's not good enough, the mages will go off and do their thing, and we'll again have to hope for the best...

I just have a hard time picturing long-term control over either group after we make our initial declaration of support... what they do with our help is going to be up to them in the future.

@Pierce Miller:  You're missing the point.  The very fact that the majority of mages in DA are blathering idiots only highlights the fact that the power they wield actually cripples them.  They're little more than walking weapons... big deal.  They're superior only in their capacity for destruction.

That doesn't mean he would underestimate their strength. He's also hardly a friend to the Qunari.

Didn't we learn to use tools precisely because we couldn't just shoot fire or lightning from our hands thus killing whatever threatened us which forced us to adapt?

Pretty sure we did.

So? He still hates them and considers them a threat. Just like mages. He doesn't hate the Imperium because he thinks they are lame and are weak and therefore is always inclined to think they will lose. He hates them because mages are powerful and dangerous.

He likes dirt on the road more than mages... That's just Fenris.

Still, what the heck can he know about the issue is a mystery, but yeah, I'd say close to nothing.

He still hates them

He can hate them and respect in the same time. Just like he hates rivalHawke yet respects him.

Sure but magic certainly is a tool that mages must adapt to use, I seriously doubt it's easy to wield and I'm sure it requires a sharp mind to study it and innovate within it.

Not once has Fenris underestimated the power of mages.  If anything, I'd be more willing to believe that fear and mistrust cause him to overestimate their abilities.  If he says that the Qunari have the advantage, I see no reason to believe he would lie or miscalculate.

If they wanted things to be normal they should have never let Meredith get to the point she got and held a meeting to vote that would allow Cullen take over as leadership. If you sit on your ass and do nothing to stop an injustice or prevent chaos that will bring a city to its knees than you're just as gulity in my book. Calling for the Rite based solely on the actions of Anders an apostate who had nothing to do with the circle of Kirkwall was the stupidest thing I saw in the DA2 game.
