Is there anyone you'll intentionally keep out of the party?

Unlike most people on the Bioware forums, I don't know enough about this game or its characters to make that decision. However, I do know who I want to be in my party at all times. Varric, and possibly the Grey Warden guy, Blackwall.

Coincidentally nobody knows about Blackwall.

Nope I never do that I always like to have all the companions available

even though some of them might be annoying at times (example: Anders) I don't want to loose potential story and interesting moments/interactions just by

killing them or just missing them (it happened with Fenris one time, as whiny as he was sometimes I appreciated his insight into Tevinter and slaves)

I will kill off Cassandra if at all possible.   I do not want her in my party at all.  Cullen would also get the axe, although I strongly doubt that would be possible.

Cole is out as well.   Maybe the Iron Bull too.

So far, I am only looking forward to Varric, Blackwall, & Dorian.   The other 3 are still up in the air.

I wish we could have had a romance-able female dwarf instead of Cole.

I'm not biased against any particular companion right now, but I don't see much use for some of them as far as combat is concerned. So if my speculations turn out to be correct, I'll probably won't use some of them other than the quests where they are relevant.

I'll probably wind up with my favorites, but until I get to know all of them, I won't know who those will be. Right now the only one I know I like is Varric.

Like always there will be companions I like more and less however I always try to balance things. A lot of work went into all 9 of them and I intend to experience them fully.

I don't know yet until I start playing the game. I'm going to try a mix of different companions until I find the right group that fits my inquisitor's ambitions and goals and has a good dynamic going on.

If we can get rid of Iron Bull I'd be happy.

I'll keep Iron Bull. In fact he did lead a Mercenary group...can I fire Cullen and replace him with Iron Bull? I'd be so happy.

I am pretty sure that I will not have Cole or Vivienne in my party at all (assuming they are not "forced" upon you in the early goings of the story).

The only reasoning I have is both of them just do not hold any interest to me nor do I care about their backstories.

However, I always hold the right to change my mind "mid-game" because if the store feels better with a particular party member in the group (even if it's the two I mentioned) then why would I deny myself a better experience/story.

Cullen is the character I am least fond of -- too bad I can't really replace him. I have seen nothing of Josi that makes me get excited about. She sounds like a bland diplomatic lady teflon.

Companion-wise, Varric doesn't fit into my party. I don't need two archers ans Sera seems more interesting.

As of right now, Sera and Vivienne.

Vivienne because she's a Pro-Circle Mage who dislikes Cole on principle, and Sera because she dislikes Cole on principle and all of the banter we've heard from her so far makes it sound like she's trying way, way to hard to be gruff and uncouth, and it rings hilariously hollow. That, and her personality seems like it wouldn't gel well with mine.

My opinion on both of them could change once I get rolling on the game, but for now those two are completely replaceable when it comes to party functionality.

BW has a tendency to surprise me with some of the characters I end up liking and disliking, for instance I thought that I would hate Jack before ME2 was released but ended up liking her, never romanced her though. I also though that I would end up liking Anders in DA2 because I liked him in DAO:A and I couldn't stand him at all. So I'll give then all a fair shake down, and I tend to bring characters who have a personal attachment to a mission along so there is that as well.

The characters that I have doubts about liking are, Viv, Sera, and maybe Solas.

None come to mind but I sometimes tend to leave out people who are of the same class I'm playing in that run. But since I'll be changing that up in every run that won't be a longterm problem.

Sadly we can't fire our advisors otherwise I'd get rid of Cullen too.

No one.

Everyone's gonna get a shot of the action, everyone's joing in the massive Close the Fade party and everyone's gonna have a happy end because I say so.

I'm most interested in Dorian, Iron Bull, and Vivienne, but I'll probably use everyone to some degree. People can surprise you.

My first run of Origins, I settled on Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne to take with me, and spent a lot of time with Morrigan as well. I didn't give the others a chance. On consecutive playthroughs, I really learned to love each character, much to my surprise. I didn't think I'd like Oghren or Sten, but both had really good stories. (At least, until Awakening. I felt like Oghren back-tracked a lot from his progress at the end of Origins.)

In II, I thought I'd love Anders or Merrill, because of Awakening and the Dalish Origin. However, they were my least favorites. I grew fond of Aveline, Carver when available, Isabela, and Sebastian.

In short, I'll let the characters speak for themselves, even if there are some I'm more interested in seeing right now. I could not want to spend any time at all with those three, and turn out loving some of the others so much more.

Based on the coiffure, it could be based on aesthetics; hair today, and gone tomorrow....

I tend to take characters with me who I know will agree with everything I do, that way I don't lose anyone I like as a character but who doesn't agree with my character.

Not in the first playthrough.
