Ever since Dragon Age 2, I have fostered an extreme hate for the word "Serah" and anything that sounds close.
So Sera better be one really impressive character.

I usually bring whatever my class isn't. So if I'm playing a mage... I'll bring warrior > rogue > rogue > me. So... probably Varric and Cole
And whichever warrior I find appealing, I'll probably rotate them all in at some point. It'll change based on the class! So everyone will get a chance eventually! The only one that might be permanently benched outside of personal quests is Vivienne, she rubs me the wrong way. But she doesn't have an Orlesian accent, so that's brownie points there, I guess.
This is all speculation on my part. I might love Vivienne. I just don't know at this point in time.
Nah....
But I imagine all the other characters will have to work to beat out my desire to have Cole, Iron Bull, and Varric with me AT ALL TIMES in case I need an emergency case of the giggles or the feels.
I'll probably switch people in and out depending on the mission. might change a bit depending on my LI
It will be hard to choose between Cole and Varric sometimes
Most probably Sera and Vivienne.
My idea party setups will most likely be :- Male Mage Lavellan, Varric Tethras, Iron Bull, Blackwall OR Male Mage Lavellan, Dorian / Solas, Varric Tethras, Iron Bull OR Male Mage Lavellan, Cole, Varric, Blackwall / Iron Bull.
Is there any companion that you'll intentionally try to keep out of your party and why?
Very unlikely at the early stages of the game. Once I have enough play-through I might develop a favoritism among the companions then it is possible that I will keep certain people out of the party.

Serah Bass. Why do you have that in you? I'm sure Sera will be an interesting character.
As a player, no. However I imagine my first character is going to hate and resent everybody, at least initially. I'll see with whom she thaws as the story progresses.
I will have only a
haremparty of beautiful husbandos. Blackwall, Solas, and our ghost baby, Cole.
So Vivienne, Cassandra, Sera, you're out.
I won't be kicking the women out, but they definitely will not see much action, if any. ![]()
My main party will be the same as yours.

I actually named my 2nd playthrough character, "Serah" Hawke
It. Was. Amazing.

Do you also call your dog "Dog"? Because I do
I also have commander Cmmd Shepard, Grey Warden named Warden Mahariel (hey, it's elvish!), and even Sim the Sim and his two adorable kids - Simey and Simmy.
Because my imagination works so hard sometimes it, too, needs a vacation.
By the way, are any of you going to keep certain characters out of the party because you are afraid you'll have to kill them at some point? Like, in DA: Origins I never take Sten with me to Haven - if his influence is low, he'll fight you (you don't have to kill him, you can persuade him, but still). I just think my future qunari Quizzy is going to be soooo anti-Qunari that Iron Bull will be fed up with her at some point.
Cole! He looks creepy and I don't like his "scarecrow(-hat) clothes".

His hair reminds me too much of Bieber when he started out....GAG..SPEW..GAG ![]()

I usually mix my party up all the time. If I had to pick it will likely be Cole and Solas.
Cole, probably. That guy creeps me out however much good he does. But I have yet to find out how do I feel about other characters. But if we're talking first impression, yes, I saw Cole and I was like "nop, no place for you in my team dear friend".
But I will think about it. Maybe it will turn out that I might need him at one point. Then I will take him as well.
More then likely Vivviene. Probably Cole. Possibly Sera. More then likely Cassandra.
None of these characters have given me a very good impression.
I'll keep everyone out of the party. Those smug bastards want my glory.
NOBODY steals my thunder, NOBODY!
Serah Bass. Why do you have that in you? I'm sure Sera will be an interesting character.
It's the "ah" at the end of it. Just grates on my nerves a bit every time I hear it. And it builds and builds with every repetition...
On topic, I'm rather confident Sera will be an interesting character, though my main problem with her will be the fact that I just sort of have a problem with the type of character I'm expecting her to be. The whole "rebel against authority and help the average Joe" mentality is something I can get behind, but when working in an organization like the Inquisition that will probably need said authority's support to do silly things like saving the world, that whole mentality needs to be toned down some, which isn't something I see her doing to be honest.
Vivienne. The headress, the fact that she is sounding to be 100% pro Circle... plus if Dorian is powerful in the combat department I'll have my combat mage.
Might keep Vivienne out… might. It depends.
Like every game with multiple characters that all level with you I will rotate. Plus they have promised many quests will play out differently if you bring a certin character or characters with you. Why would I intentionally deny myself that?

Agreed, also a really good incentive to play the game again... and again... and again ![]()
Probably Cullen, it would be too painful to have him in the group for me.
