I liked the feel and aesthetic of Haven, even in DA:O's engine. Looking at it in Frostbite is going to be awesome.

There was something so fantastically 'off' about it, wasn't there? Even when you find out what's going on there's still a subtle and rather unnerving feeling to it all.

Man, that town is creepy.  I went back for the first time recently, and got yelled at by the villagers, and read the tombstones of all the people I killed, and felt a bit bummed, tbh.  I'd never gone back before.  It was get the ashes, take them to Eamon, done.  I'm actually glad to be able to go back and have some closure.  I'm fairly certain that, as with most stuff my warden did, I'll wind up paying for it, but it is nice to know.  I always thought Bonny Lynne was a dog.  I suppose it still could be, but it's a creepy dog.  Probably no worse than Lord Rendall (?), my son, though (a folk song half-remembered from childhood).

I really liked the atmosphere of it.  I'm a little sad - with the chantry in charge, it's likely lost that Silent Hill creepy appeal I loved so much.

Ah well.  With all the things the cultists got up to - cultists who likely got massacred a second time by the chantry - the veil is likely thinner than a 1990s supermodel.  Maybe it'll still be a little creepy.

Right...if he wasn't killed . He may have a stand selling bones of Andraste to the chantry

Is it bad I hope that kid was very near the explosion? He would have been the creepiest part of DAO if it wasn't for Hespith's poem.

Damn you Bioware and your creepy arse poetry! (Of course not extending to the beloved Poet Tree)

You know it never occurred to me I could go back in Origins.   After all I'd got what I came for and if there were any villagers left, I doubt they would be pleased to see me.    Whilst there were different epilogues depending on what you did, it always seemed likely that when word got out about how Eamon was healed, the Chantry would want to investigate it.     Still it makes sense now why that Orlesian is getting stroppy with you because you're setting up your base on their patch and the death of the Divine nulled any agreement they may have had.     I would imagine that the village is just outside the main blast range since the Temple of the Ashes is at the top of the mountain and the village is down the bottom.   It makes sense you would initially establish yourself close to the source of the Breach so you could study it.

very interesting I didn't know that the village of haven would be our player base

this is one the reasons why I like DA so much : the connections

It doesn't feel like one self-contained story but more like a living world

sure conflicts get solved, big bads killed but the characters and the place they live on and are still there

I like how we will return to familiar places and encounter familiar faces again

Haven will end like the normandy sr1 destroyed in the first half of the game.

I was standing on the bridge, thinking about how nice it would be to have a cabin there.

So the peace summit is held at the Temple of Sacred Ashes, which is then promptly blew up, thus marking our very first fade rift.

Building a base of operations that close to ground zero...Heavy Risk.....But the Priiizeee....

That is one spiffy hat! That building in the back could be the Chantry in Haven.

I remember killing Genetivi, my Warden didn't want the temple found and threw a knife at the back of his head, I was really surprised by that. tbh I was like wtf?! that was cool, but I felt bad afterwards because he had spent all that time researching for that Urn. Alistair didn't approve.

I wonder if they are going to make the village bigger then it was in DA:O i mean of course there were tents and stuff for all the mages and templars before the summit ended in greenness. i mean people need places to sleep

But i just wonder if they are going to expand it from its original size. personally i'm assuming they will.

They probably will.  It looks like existing areas got a completely artistic redesign, a little like they did with monsters and characters in Dragon Age 2.  Redcliffe castle looks a lot larger and different than the original, and unlike Haven there was no in-universe reason for it to look different.

Ech just another choice from the previous that doesn't matter eh after all that effort you could put so no one could find temple and leave no person outside perhaps the warden (and possible even warden) that knew where it was including companions.

It's an intriguing idea. The architecture and the environment look similar:

I see still spreading negativity and whining at every chance possible?? Some things don't change

The Connections between the DA games (returning to familiar places and seeing familiar charaters again) is one of the best things about

this series but I won't even try to convince you because as we all learned from other threads thats not possible

I can only voice my happiness that your complaints aren't heard otherwise we would probably have only self contained stories

with all the characters only appearing in one game god that would suck

Considering that Brotehr Genitivi is one of the most renowned and influential Chantry scholars in current Thedosian time, is it REALLY a surprise that the Chantry eventually decided to follow the EXACT same clues we did to find him?

It could be the chantry.  And I'm really happy to see a female rogue version of The Hat.

It's been ten years, the creepy kid is all grown up into a creepy adult. We can hire him as a bard and he'll stand in our keeps mess hall reciting creepy poetry.

I don't want to see those creepy cultists hanging out in MY base of operations. Hopefully there's not many more cultists left after I killed Kolgrim & the high dragon.

I always felt guilty about that whole sordid affair. My Grey Warden didn't believe in Andrastrian miracles (more of a deist) but was chasing down the Urn of Sacred Ashes because they needed to appease Whiny McWorstMotherTM who claimed it would somehow heal Arl Eamon. When Sten confronted me about it, the game didn't have the option of saying, "I don't know why we're doing this, to be honest."

Then we ended up murdering a bunch of villagers trying to protect their holy relic which we steal.

Religious tolerance isn't a thing in Thedas, I understand that, but massacring a bunch of weirdos because they killed some trespassers and have a heretical branch of the Andrastrian faith/Tevinter dragon worship seems a bit excessive.

But WorstMotherTM got her ashes so YAY, HAPPY ENDING.
