My HoF is a two handed warrior but my lady Hawke is a mage. Seems fitting that since my Hawke started the mage rebellion that she be a mage. my HoF is a male warrior, romanced Morrigan and married queen anora. Hawke had a love triangle going between first Isabela and then Merrell. the cute lil elf however was Hawke's romance in the keep settings.

I'm tempted to do a mage through all three games. My current inquisitor is a mage.

My canon Warden is a rogue (female city elf) and my canon Hawke is a blood mage. But I do have other characters and as I do different playthroughs of inquisition I use different Wardens/Hawkes in the keep. For my qunari mage inquisitor the Warden was blood mage Amell and Hawke was a sarcastic rogue. I didn't use my canon characters for my first inquisition playthrough I used my most recent characters instead. So I've used my canon characters for my current playthrough (human warrior). So no I've not got any background that makes all the heroes mages but they are all women and all gay so Thedas does have a lot of gay ladies saving the world.

Yes, but my Inquisitor isn't one. I like to think when Hawke and Amell do meet up, it'll be an awkward family reunion. Not to mention Isabella having fun with them over a certain... "encounter".

Isabella: "You know, in bed the two of you do this thing where--"

Hawke and Amell: "DON'T!"

I could also see Warden Amell being very uptight with his circle up-bringing.  Nice, crisp, long robes, direct, if simple moves to cast spells, things like that.  Then Snarky Mage Hawke picking on Warden Amell the whole time for not being flashy enough and wearing those absolutely silly mage hats.

My Warden Amell was a mage as was her cousin Hawke and my Inquisitor (partly because I'm too lazy to play as any other class)

I always blind playthrough a rogue nowadays, but my canon varies depending on how things end up. My warden was a rogue but my Hawke was a mage. I haven't decided about my inquisitor yet but I think it will be my mage.

No but only because Alistair broke my heart and wouldn't marry me if I was a mage.

That's funny: my Amell is actually an Arcane Warrior/Death mage who makes opponents explode. No clean robes for her. XD

And will your inquisitor be one as well?  My warden and Hawke are both mages in my canon and I plan to make my inquisitor one as well.  It's just how I play through good games: first, blind playthrough as a rogue-type and last, 'canon' playthrough as mage-type.  Unfortunately, it means Thedas is going to see 3 famous and influential mages in a span of 20 years, all of whom mysteriously disappear when things wind down.

Warriors and rogues have this problem, but to a less pronounced extent since warrior are common and rogues can be DW or archer.  Am I the only one who does this?

My first playthrough is always a mage, and then when I make a canon playthrough (when I fix the choices of the first game) I'm a mage as well.  Any other class is just for fun.  Oh, and I'm always human for my canon.

No you are not the only one. I am drawn to underdogs.  My canon warden is Aura Solana a nasty piece of work who did everything she could do ensure her power would be substantial enough to keep her out of the tower, deals with demons, blood sacrifice even giving a childs soul to a demon all to avoid getting locked up behind those doors you learn in the mage origin are not ever opened for just anyone and it takes 4 templars to get them open anyway.  Fear and rage drove her to romance and murder Leiliana- who incidentally thinks she will get back together with the warden LMAO.  Hawke is a noble freedom fighting bloodmage with Fenris the most good and noble person you would ever meet but for her one dark secret.  And my canon inquisitor is a Lavellyn mage with no personality.  I want Thedas to stew in its hypocrisy as it was saved three times by mages.

Yes, I like the idea of a elf mage (the oppressed of the oppressed) saving the world he was born in and bringing good name to both magekind and elfkind.  And Hawke's story feels more compelling with him as a Mage.  And yes...it was Lord Trevelyan of the Oswick Circle of Magic who put an end to the Mage Rebellion.  Why?  I think its rather poetic.

My warden was a female elf mage (dalish with a mod, but elf, at least!), and my Hawke was a dazzling rogue, also female. However, yes, even Hawke didn't mind mages, saw something of herself in them. So my plays have been rather mage-leaning.

My first playthrough in DA:I was a return to mage, a qunari Knight-enchanter. :) Something about qunari mage really drew me; I like the unlikely mix (considering saarebas as well), and I am not sure if you can start off more distrusted in the game. Also I really like qunari - at least, the ones who have dropped the Qun.

Lastly, my primary leanings gameplaywise is always going to be a class that mixes magic and nimble physical combat. Funnily, I really disliked Arcane Warrior - I need a more deep hybrid than that, since the melee combat side of it is extremely simple. KE is a little better, though. :)

My cannon everyone is a mage. I just prefer mages given the constantly magical nature of the plot.

My Hawke is, but only because if I made her a Warrior, like she's supposed to be, she'd get stuck being S&S in this game, rather than the glorious 2H Master Race I intended her to be.  So until I can come to terms with that, at least, she'll be maging it up.

I actually haven't decided which of my Wardens I want to "canonize" yet, though, to be honest.  I want to mess around a little more with the different results of different world states and see which one creates the best narrative.

Nah, I liked the Cousland for his interactions against Arl Howe and later, Nathaniel.

The Circle Mage was a very boring origin. Jowan doesn't show up again, the Circle villains have basically never seen you before, etc.

Hawke, well I love Mage Hawke and making friends with Carver [difficult but worth it] but an apostate throwing fireballs in kirkwall known well for how overzealous their templars are just never seemed to fit.

Now the Inquisitor... absolutely a Mage. They actually made it fit this time, the game is chock full of references and additional dialogue to you being a Mage and your place in the plot.

Warden and Hawke are both Mages. My first attempt at Inquisition I rolled another Mage only to hate the gameplay completely (barrier duty is boring). I think I would like it a lot more once reaching the Knight Enchanter spec.

I thought if you let jowen go at redcliff you get to do a side quest with him trying to do right thing in helping others and no barrier duty for a KE, with the size of the spirt blade and how often i was fighting mobs like a tank i felt like a mix mash of a two-handed beast and a mage....so a BAMF

In my canon run Warden was a rogue so she could become the queen. Hawke was a mage, because Carver's complaints about marrying Sebastian > "Sister, you b*tch" everytime. Inquisitor is a mage because I like playing as a mage in DAI. Also it brings nice touch to the Cullen romance.

My first four canonical stories are:

* All Rogues (Paragon)
* All Mages (Paragon)
* All Warriors (Paragon)
* All Mages (Evil Behind the Throne Power)

Then it becomes customized depending on desired backstory.
