I think it was confirmed that companions will start relationships with each other. Provided you don't romance them.

Gahh oh no. 

It could be interesting though, I could see Cullen with perhaps Cass or maybe even Josie...I suppose we will learn more about the characters once we play but I'm not sure if I can imagine anyone else getting together.  Dorain and Iron Bull *maybe* I suppose..

 

 

I'm just having a hard time picturing anyone else together, I guess I really need to play yhe game and see the characters in action, it'll probably make more sense then.  I hope we can encourage them one way or the other hehe....probably won't get that option though.

I'm going to start out with a Human male mage romancing Cassandra. Also Dorian and Varric in the party.

 

Second will be Dwarf female rogue who romances Blackwall. Vivienne and Dorian in the party. I like mages, I cannot lie.

 

Then it's a tossup between male Qunari with Josephine and female Elf with Solas. If I still feel like doing another run at that point.

I like the idead of a younger human mage being with cass, cougers are a blast plus it adds spice that its also forbidden for a mage and a seeker to fraternize

I bet that people plan to romance Blackwall with a dwarf more than usual due to Aimo's awesome art, hahah!

 

 

 

Well, can't really tell you what I think fits with each character in general since I don't know them yet, but I can tell you what sort of characters I plan to romance them with. In playthrough order:

 

For Blackwall, I will romance him with a human female mage. Not really a reason for the mage or human part, it's just because I want my first playthrough to be as a human mage and I want to romance Blackwall first .

 

I plan to romance Dorian with a human male. Before I knew Blackwall was an LI, Dorian was going to be my first choice and I was going to romance him as a human mage since, well, mage boyfriends always felt badass to me. But since Dorian now gets the second playthrough spot and I don't want to play as a mage twice in a row, I will probably romance him as a warrior or rogue.

 

I will romance Iron Bull with a qunari, not sure about the gender yet. The rest, I don't know yet, probably what I feel like playing as at the time . I don't really have to worry about the race gating since I would have romanced Cullen as a human or elf anyway and I don't plan on romancing Solas any time soon (and would have probably wanted to romance him as an elf anyway).

Jaheira was always one of my favourite romances.

To be fair, I think every LI there was older on account of them being elves of some form.  In fact, I think Jaheira may have been the youngest even though she acted the oldest.

I have come up with 2 playthroughs where my Inquisitor engages in a romantic relationship. 

 

1) Cassandra with a Human male mage. Both of them are former nobles who have chosen or forced by circumstances, to not live a life as a noble and instead devote it to some ideal / cause / principle. 

 

Also the young man-old woman (Cassandra will be in her late-30s at the least) and my Trevelyan will be around 25 - 27...Totally not robbing the cradle...

 

2) Blackwall with a Human female mage. It will be a mentor-evolved into-lover type of relationship. My female Trevelyan just wants to live her life in peace...now she has this mark and a crapload of responsibilities...she sees Blackwall as someone who she can depend on and learn from...

 

Also this will a robbing the cradle relationship as well since she will be around the 25-27 age range as well...

 

I plan to come up with RP stories for Male Qunari Mage- Josephine, Female Qunari Mage - Iron Bull, Male Dalish Elf Mage- Dorian, Female Dalish Elf Mage - Solas romance pairings some time later.

 

School semester has just started and life is about to get really busy.

First/main playthrough - Katherine Trevelyan, human female mage, romancing Cullen.

Second, though this isn't set in stone, will probably be Rael Lavellan, male rogue archer, romancing Dorian.

This may all change, of course, when I get the game and actually meet them all.

Here's how I'm leaning at the moment - I love how we have 8 LI's and 8 permutations of race & gender!  (normally my first playthrough is as female, but I already stated, I'd play as a nug if that was what I needed to romance Dorian - and he is definitely my first romance!)

Female Lavellan Mage + Sera = contrast of elves from two completely different walks of life, with different values and personalities. The awkward, studious First with a gregarious wild child. Lavellan's fascination with city elves will probably kick-start things, if Sera isn't forward. Both have a heart of gold. Seems like a winner.

 

Male Lavellan Rogue + Dorian = has an element of being 'on opposing sides' due to Tevinter and Dalish. Also the smaller one being a frontline fighter while the bigger one is the squishy mage is a personal favourite combo of mine. I'm expecting my Lavellan to be caught unawares by Dorian's charm and fall pretty fast.

 

Female Adaar Mage + Josephine = big, scary Vashoth apostate with the elegant, noble diplomat. Adaar will probably attempt very awkward courting and 'traditional' romantic things, and hopefully it will win Josephine's heart and all be very cute.

 

Female Cadash Rogue + Blackwall = surface dwarf with a Warden, who probably knows more about the Deep Roads than she does. Cadash is the oldest age possible (45?), pretty gregarious and full of life, wanting Blackwall to live his life to the full before his Calling. Will probably be tragic, but damn if he won't have a good time first.

 

Female Trevelyan Warrior + Iron Bull = noble lady warrior with a heathen brute. Life contrast again. I'm looking forward to her possibly bringing him to fancy parties, especially if she's recognised by any fellow nobles. Both like fighting and drinking. I want to explore mixed race relationships with Qunari, and human seems a safe bet.

 

Male Lavellan Warrior + Cassandra = surly, proud Dalish warrior falls for a fierce shemlen lady. Not sure who'll get things going, since he's pretty tsundere, and I can't see Cassandra coming onto him. Probably affection born from growing respect. Once they're in a relationship, I expect fierce loyalty, awkwardly cute moments and whatnot.

 

Female Lavellan Mage + Cullen = different walks of life again, different faiths. It's on an Amell + Leliana playthrough, so interesting possibilities and contrasts there. Not sure yet if that combo will work on a personal level, if they're too different but I'm interested to find out. Romancing him as a Dalish mage could be very interesting.

 

Female Lavellan Rogue + Solas = Dalish hunter with huge respect for mages, practical and adoring of nature. Powerful elven mage with a lot of knowedge about elven ruins and whatnot. She's probably one of my more contemplative and intelligent Inquisitors. Depending on his reasons for being f!Dalish only, it could be a perfect match.

For my first play through I shall play what I normally play, a female elf mage, which opens me up nicely for Solas.

 

I don't know how I'll do my next play through but I do fully intend to romance all the companions.

 

I echo the sentiments of others, the companions I don't romance hooking up with others is fantastic, I squee'd my little heart out when Tali and Garrus got together in ME3. It would also make me feel like my Inquisitor is less of a black hole romance wise.

I'll play a female human mage, but I'll probably pass on romances, because right now none of the options seem to work with the character I have in mind. Maybe this will change once I play the game.
