Is it too late to change Cassandra's and Josephine's appearance?

It's interesting to note and I am sure this post will  get blocked  but of all the romance options Cassandra (the straight heterosexual option) and Josephine (the female bisexual option) are the least attractive. Cassandra has incredibly short hair, chiseled, almost manly facial features and appears to be middle aged. Josephine suffers from similar flaws.

If we contrast them with the other romance options; Cullen is an objectively handsome guy, the same can be said for the gruff looking Grey Warden, Blackwall. Iron Bull, well, hard to say as a Qunari, Dorian looks good in a kind of urbane, sophisticated way. Sera looks to have a nice body at least and admittedly Solas looks kind of odd but he has that mysterious thing going for him.

None of these romanceable characters look like members of opposite sex they are supposed to be but Cassandra looks extremely masculine and Josephine isn't too far behind.

Is it too late to change their appearances? drop their age by 10 years or so, give them long hair and change their facial features?

If not, no biggy, we can just play a lesbian Inquisitor for Sera.

Problem is, if they change then to look like YOU want them, someone else may not like it.

Yes. It's too late and bioware won't change the look because some people demand it. You just have to hope for some character overhaul mods. I'm pretty sure if it's possible with the frostbite engine there will be some mods to let cassandra look less masculine and generally make all female characters look better. Less ugly hair for the female characters would a a good start.

What straight, heterosexual male likes middle aged, manly faced, short haired women? A profound minority. It is not about personal taste so much as it is about what most straight heterosexual males like. I have no problem playing a lesbian inquisitor for the elf Sera so it is not a total loss but very strange how Bioware made these females so unattractive.

You are probably right. Thank the gods for that.

From the Cassandra romance thread it seems that many straight men find Cassandra attractive. This is about personal taste, just like most things to do with a person's appearance.

I think facial hair can be very attractive on a man, other women I'm sure will disagree.

How are you gauging what most straight men like? If it is by looking at the women who appear in TV and film, then all that tells you is what women casting people & marketing people think straight men think are attractive.

Going by that standard all straight women find, brown haired, muscular, clean shaven men, attractive, which I can assure you is not the case.

It is your opinion that Cassandra is not attractive. You may find it hard to understand why some men may be attracted to someone like Cassandra but that is only because you have a different taste. And it absolutely is your personal taste. When you have no evidence to back up your statements about other male gamers you shouldn't even speak for them.

And they also can't make Cassandra younger because if would conflict drastically with previous lore.

I am very glad BioWare didn't create supermodels this time around. Maybe some straight male gamers just have to learn to deal with the fact what so many games show is just not remotely near the truth for pretty much any woman.

You can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, well you might find....you get what you need.

Okay firstly: I find Cassandra attractive (and yes I'm a heterosexual male).

Secondly: Why should she even have to be "attractive"? Just because shes a potential LI doesn't mean she has to live up to peoples abstract notions of attractiveness.

Thirdly: yes it's too late

Ooh wait, I've just remembered, this is another "female companions/advisors are unattractive" topic. Take a shot.

I am gauging it by universal, evolutionary standards. Though we all have individual taste, we all evolved to like certain things as universals. Of course there will be exceptions to taste but most heterosexual men do not like short haired, masculine looking women. As for female taste, money and status are of greater importance to heterosexual women than physical appearance but since that is not a factor in a game, being tall for one is important. That is a female universal. Very, very few women will choose a short man over a tall one, all things being equal. Regardless, if mods can change the appearance, then none of this will be a problem anyway.

I don't think hair length is an "evolutionary standard" of attraction.

It is important to remember that we have hardly seen Cassandra or Josephine in recent media.

As for Bioware making females unattractive, I think that is simply a reaction to having characters who aren't perfect.

The characters are not designed as eyecandy or sex icons. They are designed as believable people. What you, me or anyone else find appealing is irrelevant. And no, they are not going to change their appearance and I truly hope that appearance modding will be either be very difficult or impossible. The less Barbie dolls masquerading as characters the better.

Also, universal standards are not universal when there is clear deviation from it. And unless there is actual, published research on the subject stop dressing your opinion as anything other than your own, personal, opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so don't presume to make such sweeping statements on behalf of all men.

Wow, I didn't know the field of evolutionary psychology had advanced this far yet. Please cite the studies that demonstrate your platitu- er, claims.

So as long as you are fine with the lookm of the characters everybody has to be. Even if moodding wouldn't affect you in any way, but make other people enjoy the game more, you wouldn't want it. Very childish and selfish attitude, but to be honest the people on this forum doesn't suprise me any more.

Incorrect. Long, lustrous hair is an indication of fertility and health, a prime indicator of attractiveness to heterosexual men, which is why the majority of heterosexual men do not line short hair.

Yeah, I think nobody has told the OP that only the opinion that the female characters are beautiful is allowed and anybody who doesn't think so has to shut up. Obviously his fault.

Besides, the study they are most likely drawing from is way out-dated and was a mostly theoretical paper. It is part of a type of gender study that focuses on biological reasons as to why men and women are different and cite a lot of archaeology as reasons.

The paper I'm thinking of also states that men are drawn to curvy women who look young because they visibly look healthy enough to carry babies to term. While women, as stardusk already stated, are drawn to strength and power for protection.

As I said, a lot of it is quite outdated. Plus I think Cassandra is gorgeous and her voice is amazing. I can't wait to romance her.
Stardusk, I hope you find someone who fits your look and have fun with the game! It looks like you already like Sera... Despite only liking her body..,;;
