Incorrect. Long, lustrous hair is an indication of fertility and health, a prime indicator of attractiveness to heterosexual men, which is why the majority of heterosexual men do not line short hair.
And you again have provided no proof.

To answer your question: yes. The game's almost out. However, even if there were still time...
BioWare characters aren't made to be attractive. It's character first, then depending on the story-potential they consider adding romances to them. The appearances are designed around their characterization, not to make them attractive. So, in this case, I guess you just got the bad roll of the die there. Frankly, I don't view giving people "attractive" options as that big a deal, nor do I think the developers feel so. "We need someone sexy" is probably not the writers' favourite concept, and in all honesty I'll bang anyone if I think their pillow talk will be interesting enough.
Even when it comes to choosing the romances, it's still a certain kind of "story potential" which means not just appealing to escapism, but also making you ideally weep, feel, and maybe thoughtful. Dragon Age has a semi-real feel, where the world may be fantastical, but its people are very much real. Or at least, that's the goal. Don't go contradicting me with "Oh X was kinda flat", because it's possible in that case they just failed. It happens.
Wow, I didn't know the field of evolutionary psychology had advanced this far yet. Please cite the studies that demonstrate your platitu- er, claims.
Citations will not be forthcoming. We both know that threads like these are not complete without a large dose of unsubstantiated, radically misinterpreted and usually outdated "science" to provide a veneer of rational objectivity.
So as long as you are fine with the lookm of the characters everybody has to be. Even if moodding wouldn't affect you in any way, but make other people enjoy the game more, you wouldn't want it. Very childish and selfish attitude, but to be honest the people on this forum doesn't suprise me any more.
What straight, heterosexual male likes middle aged, manly faced, short haired women? A profound minority. It is not about personal taste so much as it is about what most straight heterosexual males like. I have no problem playing a lesbian inquisitor for the elf Sera so it is not a total loss but very strange how Bioware made these females so unattractive.
Yeah...I think you are missing the fact that there are more to these characters than your desire to have sex with them.
There is an actual story to each character and their appearances have been crafted to suit that - NOT your sexual preferences. So deal with it.
This is not a sex game.
People hate appearance mods because they produce such abominations as the white Isabella mod. Characters are designed the way they are for a reason.
I've liked a few in the past. Found a couple of good DA:O ones that made the characters look more like they did in the trailers. But that's still sticking to Bioware's vision of them, albeit a slightly different version of it, so it's not too bad. White Isabella though...yeah, that's a bit too much....

I am gauging it by universal, evolutionary standards. Though we all have individual taste, we all evolved to like certain things as universals. Of course there will be exceptions to taste but most heterosexual men do not like short haired, masculine looking women. As for female taste, money and status are of greater importance to heterosexual women than physical appearance but since that is not a factor in a game, being tall for one is important. That is a female universal. Very, very few women will choose a short man over a tall one, all things being equal. Regardless, if mods can change the appearance, then none of this will be a problem anyway.
eh what? Evolutionary standard? Individual Taste has more to do with social influences then evolved preferences.
I'm going to wow you here, but hair grows and therefore it is a choice to have it short or long. Men & Women base the choice on whether or keep their hair short or long on what suits them, what other people find attractive or on what makes is easier to keep.
By your logic no one would ever cut their hair because no one would think it looks nice, but yet here I am sitting in work with 5 or 6 shorted hair women in my eye line, all of whom have dated men.
I'd also like to know how women being attracted to men with money is based on evolution considering, in terms of human history, money has existed for a blink of an eye.
I don't know any women who've fallen in love with someone because of their money or status, most women I know find people attractive based on a combination of looks and personality perhaps you've been reading too many MRA blogs or just know some really shallow women.

In modern societies it might be, but not in primitive cavemen societies, most women you see with long, lustrous hair, use shampoo, conditioner, a hair brush and possible other products to get our hair to look like that.
This was something that was simply not possible when mankind was first evolving.

The purpose of mods is to make the experience for the people who use them better. No one will be ever 100% satisfied with the developers work and most developers are fine with mods, because their goal is to give the player the best experience. As long as it doesn't affect you, it's not your business to decide what gameplay changes are "abonimations" and what aren't and how other players have to play the game they bought. Nobody forces you to use them or even look at them.
Yes, it's too late. Way too late. Keep your mitts off my perfect Cassandra!
You don't want Cassandra and Josie? My Inquisitor(s) will take them off your hands, no problem.
Seriously, there are tons of "female companions are not hot enough" threads, go take your opinion elsewhere. No need to make a new thread about a topic that is pointlessly overdone, and yes it's too late.

Yeah, I think nobody has told the OP that only the opinion that the female characters are beautiful is allowed and anybody who doesn't think so has to shut up. Obviously his fault.
I'd be more empathetic if this topic was ever just about not finding a character beautiful, instead of demanding to have them changed and claiming to know what men really want. As is, it's mostly just funny.
This. This thread is the type of thread we needed, to really help get things 'spiced up' before launch; to keep us occupied and not bored.
You are free to use them, and I am free to express my disgust at them.
Sure you can, as I can call this attidute childish and selfish.

The issue here is that the OP is now attempting to present his opinion as fact.
Welcome to the internet.
Stardusk? Are you younger than 25? (Rhetorical question. I would never ask that over the internet.)
Because you come off like a boy in puberty who only cares about large-breasted Playboy bunnies with big lips and wide eyes. Probably the types that wouldn't know the hilt of a sword from its blade. REAL women look like Cassandra and Josephine.

I'm perfectly okay with people not thinking that female characters are attractive. Attractiveness, is after all, mostly down to personal taste.
What I do object too is someone stating their opinion as fact or as if their opinion is shared by the majority of players, when it clearly isn't

Pornographic material brings forth many unrealistic expectations of women and sex. A lot of people watch/view pornographic material.

A lot of UFC fighters are starting to be sex symbols though. I'm just surprised I still see junk like this.
I mean, Cassandra looks almost like a slightly older Gina Carano. How much hotter can you get? The woman could crush my skull between her thighs. ![]()

REAL women
Let's not.
It's interesting to note and I am sure this post will get blocked but of all the romance options Cassandra (the straight heterosexual option) and Josephine (the female bisexual option) are the least attractive. Cassandra has incredibly short hair, chiseled, almost manly facial features and appears to be middle aged. Josephine suffers from similar flaws.
If we contrast them with the other romance options; Cullen is an objectively handsome guy, the same can be said for the gruff looking Grey Warden, Blackwall. Iron Bull, well, hard to say as a Qunari, Dorian looks good in a kind of urbane, sophisticated way. Sera looks to have a nice body at least and admittedly Solas looks kind of odd but he has that mysterious thing going for him.
None of these romanceable characters look like members of opposite sex they are supposed to be but Cassandra looks extremely masculine and Josephine isn't too far behind.
Is it too late to change their appearances? drop their age by 10 years or so, give them long hair and change their facial features?
If not, no biggy, we can just play a lesbian Inquisitor for Sera.

I am gonna to use this every time I see a topic so shitty, that I have no answer for it.
