I was thinking about getting my dad a Falcon Northwest I/O as a birthday present, and I know he wants to get into the Mass Effect games.
I have a Falcon Northwest Talon desktop which is very very powerful, I was pleased with their customer service and the system itself so I have high expectations.
The computer is customizable but the specs I desire for the computer are...
Processor: Core 2 solo 1.4 GHZ(Core 2 Solos are faster than Intel Atoms right?)
GPU:Intel GMA 4500MDH
Ram:4GB DDR2 ram
Hard Drive:256 GB Samsung solid state drive
OS:Windows 7 premium.
Will I be able to play Mass Effect on this laptop?

No way with that set-up, Intel graphics chips are not going to run ME. Also, you really should have a dual core processor if you want to run ME - I think they even removed single cores from the minimum requirements for ME2.
You did say it's customizable. You'll need a moderately fast dual core. A 1.4 GHz Core 2 isn't cutting it, even with two cores - I think the minimum listed for ME2 is a Core2 Duo 1.8 GHz. And you'll also need discrete graphics from ATI or Nvidia. Then maybe you could run the ME games - depending on whether the graphics card is fast enough.

no, Intel graphics are not supported. sorry
You will need an ATI or nVidia graphics card. Please look at the PC requirements.
