I had like 30 words, but unfortunately, my computer crashed before I could post them. So I'll just say the first two I thought up.

(Couldn't find an actual picture of Dave the Barabarian saying it...)

Phantasmagoria, because it sounds creepy. From an old video game that was known for some macabre scenery...

Phantasmagoria:

  1. a shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination.
  2. a changing scene made up of many elements.
  3. an optical illusion produced by a magic lantern or the like in which figures increase or diminish in size, pass into each other, dissolve, etc.

I like the second definition more.

I love English words. Some of them are delightfully goofy.

extemporize (verb) - to act without prior planning; to improvise.
"Extemporize" is useful for me as a historian when I talk about governmental structures or militaries. You don't say that a general gathered up soldiers from wherever he could find them and told them to hold a gun and stand over there. You say "he deployed an extemporized force". Sounds more impressive.

implacable (adjective) - not able to be placated or appeased; adamant, immovable
It's a word that goes very well with the Determinator trope. (Which is probably my favorite trope of all time.) It even sounds gritty.

pique (noun) - feeling of enmity, resentment, or annoyance
pique (verb) - to excite someone, to stimulate [interest]
I think it's incredibly weird that so many English speakers confuse this word with 'peak'. Anyway, I just like how it sounds. The noun is more fun to use than the verb: "she cut off the phone call in a fit of personal pique". Evocative.

denude (verb) - to make bare, to divest of all covering
Oddly, English speakers don't really seem to use this with clothing, even though "nude" is actually in the word. Instead, it comes up with, say, forests. Or soldiers: to denude part of one's lines to reinforce other sectors.

rebound (noun) - the recoil of an object bouncing off another; in basketball, an instance of catching the ball when it has bounced off the board without scoring a basket
HEY GURL YOU PRETTY GOOD AT GETTIN DEM BALLBOARDS AINTCHA

febrile (adjective) - full of nervous energy
"You're staying here, right? The situation's f***ing febrile. [pause] You don't f***ing know what febrile means. No, you don't. It means there are going to be hysterical journalists, right - watching every f***ing move we make. So I want you unplugged from the mains until the danger's passed."

"****." (Slur for vagina that starts with a c. What I call people I'm ticked off with)

"Bastard."

"No."

"Be quiet."

"Silence."

"Stop moaning."

"Bloody hell."

"Jesus Christ!" (Love this one. There's so much power to this name too. It just flows straight off your tongue).

"Geezers." (What I often call random people)

"****** hell."

"For God's sake!"

As you've guessed, I'm a moody bastard only happy when I'm alone.

Some positive words,

"Fantastic."

"Splendid."

"Oh wonderful." (Although often said sarcastically when something hasn't gone according to plan)

"Great." (Same as above)

"Marvellous!" (Same as above)

"Honour."

"Dignity."
"Glorious."

"How amusing."

"How very interesting."

"Well, that's extraordinary."

"Bizarre." (The word I say for most things on the internet)

"Shrek't." (My college teacher said this wasn't a word but soon changed her mind when I Shrek't her.)

I'm a big fan of pompous words that have meanings so specific that they're not at all useful in conversation, like defenestrate: "to throw someone or something out of a window." There's also floccinaucinihilipilification, "the estimation of something as valueless."

But at the end of the day, there's no debating that the greatest word of all time in any language is ascertain.

It does have a nice ring to it. "Ass-er-tayne"

And some more:

"Justice."

"Scandalous."

"Serenity."

"Euphoric" (in this moment I am euphoric lol, found the image below just by Googling the word. I don't actually use the word myself but I like the sound of it and now it makes me laugh as I always remember the meme associated with it).

yzHkmqI.gif

"Palatable" (a word I started actually using two years ago ever since I heard Xzar say it from Baldur's Gate. "I'm starting to find this group almost...palatable.")
