I never ever use DLC equipment until I'm too far enough in the game that these become average gear.

It might just be me but, I'm the kind of player who doesn't like to make the game easier by using DLC stuff or even grinding levels because I can't get past a boss. I prefer to rely on strategy even if it means to try again and again. It requires to be careful with my progress and keep an eye on my resources at all time and I like that. Of course, I wouldn't challenge a Dragon from the get go but, I tend to enjoy it more when I get a challenge out of games. Even before tackling it on the hardest setting.

I'll use it if I end up getting the deluxe edition.

As long as it's not excessively over-powered I'll be using all of the goodies that come with the Inquisitor's Edition.

Really it depends on how it looks on my character and how well the stats compliment her playstyle.  I only dropped the extra $10 on the pre-order because it includes the soundtrack, and I would end up buying that anyway.

That boring piece of iron junk? LOL

I'd rather go with something that looks a lot better like this but I'm hoping for armor-clothing combinations so I can end up with armor that looks similar to this:

I like this armor too:

Depends. Not right away from Level 1 if it insta-spawns in my inventory, no, it's ridiculous that you're barely a Joe nobody yet and already in your shiniest blings. I definitely like the aesthetics of the weapons and the flames effect around them though, so I'd like to use them later in the game, when my PC is more established as ~Le Inquisitor~ (if the pieces aren't too underlevelled by then). Ideally I'd like the set to first spawn inside Skyhold, so you only get your hands on it when it's fit to use.

I really want to explore the crafting most of all though, see what we can come up with from the parts we find. I'm more curious about the armors and weapons we can craft than the ready-made sets we may find. In Amalur, for example, even the rarest and strongest armor sets had nothing on the stuff I could craft myself towards endgame. The unique sets were prettier than my crafted ones, but crafting was such a fun game element that I ended up preferring it over aesthetics.

I mainly bought Deluxe for the soundtrack, the tacky dragon skull and the zombie unicorn to be honest, so even if the Flames set gets underlevelled fast, it's no biggie. I have an undead horse with a sword through its skull chilling out in my stables, no regrets.

If I payed for that stuff, you better believe I'm going to use it.

This discussion also reminds me that we know very little about itemisation in general. How will item stats scale with levels? Will it be very fast progression akin to DA2 where even artefact-level weapons were outclassed by uncommons couple of levels later? Or will it be slower akin to DAO where items you got early could be still useful much later even if they weren't the best by then?

If it's the former then the value of crafting gets lowered significantly. What's the point of meticulously crafting a set with precise needed bonuses if two levels later you get loot with better basic stats? Especially if primary stat like weapon damage (from which all ability damage is calculated) grows much faster than secondary stats like +mana. And derived stats like armour% and attack% are so sensitive to those primary stats.

The two-handed sword reminds me of the Stormruler Sword from Demon's souls. If its actually able to shoot out razor winds like the stormruler, that will be the only weapon I use for the whole game :P .

Paid for that Deluxe Edition so i'm definitely going to use it. Hope they are level binded so if i'm level 1 they are not too OP.

Sometimes I wonder about not using DLC weapons...but then I ask myself "Why on earth did you pay for them then?" Then since I don't want to feel stupid I end up using them till something better appears. I swear that Harrier Assualt Rifle ruined the ME3 experience with other ARs.

Still it's good to save some money early on in the game, having better weapons/armors will allow me to focus on my companions

I'm only buying deluxe for the weapons, throne, and Bogsy the bogicorn. The armor is nice, but I'd much rather try everything else out first.

Can I please get a picture of this armour? It may lead to me preordering if i think it is cool enough. I have enough faith in BioWare not to screw this game up that I am very close to preordering, something I haven't done for years.

Nevermind, just found it. Will probably preorder anyway, that horse looks cool.

Takes me back to Oblivion and the horse armour debacle.

I did my first run in DA2 without Sebastian.  It worked great.

well, if its anything like the preorders from da2 (not the later dlc items that were awesome cause they grew with you) then ill use them for maybe the first 4 character levels and then find some better equipment, or craft some.... maybe break down the FOI armor to craft other stuff
