Hi all, I never finished playing DAO years ago and just picked it up Again.  As I hadn't done the elven treaty, I went for that after lothering this time.

And I'm finding it hard.  Lots of nasty skeletons and then the elven burial chamber with 2 Shades and the dead elf chick is wipe after wipe.

I'm playing a 2h warrior, have Alistair with sword and board, Leljiana and Morrigan.  Morrigan has heal and rejuvinate but it's not enough.  Everone is about level 8.

Do I need to abandon this fight and come back?

Ummmm...its best to have some ranged people with this...is Leliana using a bow or daggers? Also use Morrigan more offensivly, if she has any AOE use those. if this is tough for you, you're gonna get killed in the werewolf lair. Maybe come back when you are more powerful?

It is a bit hard at that level.  It depends on the difficulty setting.

The elven ghost is a spellcaster, though, so if you have mage one-shotting spell (Mana Clash) you can at least remove her from the fray.  It requires Morrigan to have 33 magic, though.  A wonderful spell to get, because if it's the first thing you cast in a battle, it will kill all but a couple of the mages in the game instantly.

As I recall, Brecilian forest is scaled to roughly level 15 party. As said above, even if you manage to do the burial chamber, there will be several fights further down that quest that are a lot tougher.

Focus on the ghost. Everything. Alistair is a Templar so he will drain her mana. Try upgrading equipment if you haven't already. Crushing prison the yellows. Walking bomb the skeletons. If you don't have those, check the spirit school. Don't worry about friendly fire. Morrigan can heal, right? Get Leliana to a new tactic. Give her a super bow. you could kite as well. Force field. Spirit healer. Don't worry.

Basically this.

Though the game does scale to some extent, some levels are still noticably harder than others. I abandoned my very first playthrough when I got completely stuck in the Brecilian Forest after going straight there from Lothering.

Try doing Redcliffe, the Mage's Tower, and The Stone Prisoner DLC first to level you up.

I usually go to RedCliffe first, then the circle tower. so I am usually a higher level before hitting the Dalish Forest. Those werewolves can be brutal!!!

Dog and/or Shale help a lot against the werewolves since they can't be overwhelmed.

I go circle, orzammar, forest and redcliffe. If I'm a mage I go orzammar first. It's best to get THAT over with. It always scales for me, so I like redclifffe to be a bit more of a challenge. The circle is in fact the easiest of them.

If all else fails you can turn to the overpowered spell of force field.  Run Al in there solo, taunt, FF, kill stuff while no damage is taken.  This can almost be abused since FF refreshes about the same speed it lasts. Tis a tactic I use if I get frustrated enough with the high dragon or Flemeth but it works for everything else that kicks butt.

Once i do lothering, i tend to go to denerim and do some side quests. Then I go and get Shale and do the wardens keep, as well as briefly visit some areas for side quest purposes. Then i save redcliffe village. Then i go too the tower to save the mages to get them to save connor. then the urn of sacred ashes, brecilian forest and finally orzammar before the landsmeet. Obviously i continue to keep up with side quests throughout and in between the main quests. Once im at the landsmeet its just a matter of making sure the high dragon is dead, all side, companion, faction and slim couldry missions are done, then off for endgame.

I did the same thing on my first pt and it almost ruined the game for me. I restarted the game and got so mad that I was replaying the whole beginning that I just turned it off. Half hour later in was back at it and haven't stopped playing since lol
