I've taken a look at the romance options for hetro males, and I have to say I'm disappointed. Since it's probably too late to change things now, I've decided to try and move in a different direction: dlc.
So, why should bioware even look at this? me being upset about it isn't really very compelling. I do, however, have a better reason to share: Profit.
As far as I know, hetro males are still the largest demographic playing pc games, and the same is true in terms of DA"s audience.
None of the romance options presented are anywhere near classic beauty. Both have short hair, a blocky face, and both are the strong dominant types. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not what I want in a romantic interest, and there will be a lot of men feeling the same - if you think to contest this point, look around at western culture.
So a large part of your player demographic is going to be unhappy with the choices you gave them. Too late to fix it, but you can take advantage of it. Make a dlc with an actually feminine female companion that male player characters can romance. That doesn't mean making a character who is over sexualized, or weak. It means making a character with a more feminine face and hair, and a less aggressive personality.
