You know how you can control your party members in combat? Can we do the same thing with whatever we summon?
Can we directly control our summons?

Good question.
Don't know. We haven't seen any summons yet. I'm guessing the Necromancer will summon undead stuff.

True and I think it would be badass to be able to jump into control of your undead minions and what not. Could a dev please confirm or deny this?

my money is on no.
depending on what kind of necromancer they choose to go with it could have tons of stuff at one time as well...not that, that changes anything. Even if the necromancer wasn't in the game I would still guess you can't.

I think there was something like that in DAO. You could summon a skeleton, but you had to assume direct control (
) in order for it to do anything.

I was recently informed by a mod that when I post a picture in response to someone in a thread it is considered "spam" thus I will say Well done sir. I should have came up with that in my post and failed haha.

having an image accompany your post makes it ok though FYI........

The necromancer exists in MP, and I think directly controlling a minion might be inconvenient there

That doesn't necessarily mean we can't do it in SP.

Has anyone seen any gameplay vids with the Necro in MP?

they haven't said anything about the necromancer from what I understand. We don't even know if the necromancer gets minions at all....it could be lifetap and debuff, it could be curses, it could be snare and drain....we don't know yet.
Even though I doubt it, if the game did let you control minions, its nothing the already in game "tactics" system wouldn't fix....your necromancer would be controled just as a SP party member while you play as your minions.

I have yet to see any summons. Probably best not to get hopes up that Necromancer will definitely have them. I suspect they will, just because we've had summons in the past games, but the technical definition of a necromancer is simply one who works with the dead. Necromantic religions are a real thing, and they were expanded upon later in fantasy settings to occasionally include some form of undead summoning, but that's not always the case. At least one fantasy game, I can't remember the name of right now, used Necromancers to dispel/control existing undead, rather than directly summon them.
Point is, this question is kind of cart-before-horse.

The other option is it will work like Dog in DA2.
You will summon X and it will charge into the fray until the summons expires or the fight is over.

Personally I do hope that the Necromancer is DA:I's resident 'pet' specialization.
I realize that not all necromantic powers revolve around wielding an army of undead minions, but (IMO) those other powers are so lackluster; not to mention each of those powers being covered by other classes.
A slight de-buff? A chilling effect? Life draining attacks? All of these powers are covered by other existing classes, and in some cases; the Reaver with her life draining attacks for example; the other classes have more potent versions of those powers anyway.
