People like to speculate. Because what the hell do you think we should do, it's 3 more months to go.

Oh for the love of...I am not saying people shouldn't speculate. I write...i AM speculation not manifested at any given time before I write lol. What I am saying is why does the speculation default to something evil or unpleasant? Like this an entire thread created because "she might be the villain...the traitor...the usurper... If you do not see why this is problematic, I don't know what to tell you.

I hope not.

If nothing else, I don't think Bioware should tell us which companion will be a traitor months before the game releases.

The speculation part isn't the thing one would frown upon . But like introverted_assassin said and I agree . Why when topic like this pop up , it seem the speculation wide ration always go toward something....um...negative . For exemple (and this is just an exemple) the cullen post him being addict to Lyrium . Why we don't see a post where peoples speculate about his career since DA2 . Where did he go ? will he have mens under his command as well ? and stuff like that .

For the fun of it.

You can't seriously ask why they think it's something sinister when everything we know about her in short - she has a balls of steel, she's power-hungry and she doesn't allow anything to stand in her way. It sounds egoistic. Which means she'll do anything for her own good, ends > means.

And yes, most of the people find these traits rather disturbing.

Who knows, they might in the future,... like with the movie titanic, we all knew how it would end, still it broke box office records ;)

Well, lets hope it does not get that far...

Like my sig says...

Vivienne: I think we should call it... your grave!
Inquisitor: Aaah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Vivienne: Ha ha ha! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!

But I don't think it's going to happen.  It's just funny.

I agree, its just nice to see that people like to comment. 3months is still a whole while. I bet we'll see plenty more of these type of threads. Which I do not approve, it sparks some life into the forums

You make it sound as if being ambitious is a bad thing . There is ambition and ambition . Wanting a career and raising in Title in a world where Mages are seen as abomination would be a feat . Not something to fear . Queen Anora for exemple was ambitious , what made her bad in my eyes wasn't that she wanted the throne . No she had the calification to do so , but her seeing Loghain as an innocent baby was what made me put Alistair on the throne .

when the thread is on her turning on us, her having ambition makes it plausible, i'm not saying cause she has ambition that she is evil, i'm saying since she has ambition its possible for her to turn on us.

You know she might not be a love interest because something as simple as she could already be involved with someone else, right? I know the PC we're accustomed to playing is usually the epicenter of a romantic vortex, but there are in reality plenty of fish in the sea. Just because she isn't interested in the PC doesn't make her suspect one on the inevitable betrayal list.

I dont think so, if she was evil it would extaly make more sens if se was a LI. You geth more dramatic effect that way.

There real agenda i have no clue,Beside more power for her.

Look at Anders and Morrigan both where a LI

She probally not A LI because you probally need make stance mage or templars quite soon in the game. And she wil leave if pick templars are kill almost every mage in sight

So somebody doesn't want to sleep with you, and that makes them a possible traitor/evil guy? I'm worried about your love life.

Anything's possible.  I mean, we're talking about a character we haven't heard utter two words.  We only know her as "the ambition" (not usually a good sign in fiction whatever you think of ambition in real life), and that her clothing style was based on maleficent, and that she used to work for Empress Celene.

On the other hand, we also know that Celene had to hire Morrigan, because what she got from Vivienne about magic was "filtered by chantry dogma."

It is a little obvious, as well.  I mean, DA2 gives you a blood mage and a pirate and a formerly brainwashed slave for companions, and the secret terrorist you harbour in your midst is your gentle healer, who was easygoing and joking with you in Awakening.

It's also possible that *all* the characters will potentially betray you at some point, depending on what you do and what you've done for them.  If you didn't max out friendship/rivalry, you could wind up fighting almost any companion in DA2.

I mean she can leave the inquisition sure, if she disagrees with the Inquisitor decisions but flat out betray and being the villain? Nop, that would be just another cliche, people with ambitious can have morals too.

Um, am i understanding right... Vivienne is a bad guy/girl because she is not a LI but featured a lot in marketing...?

How about she is a cool looking lady of color with a beautiful face and a cool hat, and a powerful mage as well?

Well, to me it would not be unreasonable to expect that due to the heavy marketing eo it would have made a very logic choice for LI, as such story elements avoiding her of being a LI could tend towards her being a Villain, reasons for Varric and Morrigan have been well explained, Viv didn't get any explenation

That does sound a little fedora'd, when you put it that way.

Maybe she is marketed heavy because she looks great, is an interesting character with a good backstory and is done properly in a new engine...? Or maybe she plays a large non-villainous part in the story...? You dont need to have an LI or villain status to feature heavily in marketing, you know.
Besides she looks unique so why not show her.

*shoot arrows* God forbide! She is not a bad guy !! From what I got from the Bioware staff he said there was a good reason she is not a Li and it is tied to her personal history (or something like that) . Doesn't mean she is Evillllll vilainy about to take over . Seriously , that would suck . I'm tired of seeing Mages used in this setting...after power and nananére . And Vivi is fab! You don't go Fab and Vilain . Well you could....but I rather she is not .

I dunno.... villains are usually more stylish and engaging that the good guys.... (to me at least .... loki> thor!)

But I think Viv isn't a bad guy....no matter how fab she looks.....she's a driven career woman who's not going to let romance stand in her way of attaining the prestige and power she wants/ thinks she deserves......what man or woman would be good enough for her?

I think Solas will be the "bad guy" in our companions list, Solas = Pride in DA elven language, the guy has "some strange powers no other mages has" according to his bio, tons of knowledge about the Veil, can freely mode around there in "ludic dreams", and he says he learnt how to do magic without anyone teaching him...he is either a Pride Demon disguissed or a mage possesed by a Pride Demon in my opinion.

I think Vivienne hidden agenda would be related to her gaining more power and political influence within the Circle of Magic, which seems to be the only thing she care about aside of her physical looks. But really, almost everyone in our group except maybe Cassandra seems to have a more or less evident hidden agenda.

I hope that the reason Vivienne is not romantically available is because she is already in a satisfying relationship, if only because the "high-powered career woman who doesn't have time for a relationship" trope is absolutely boring.

I disagree . All I see is women must get married.....to be something . To be worth noticing . So no..not so boring . It be a fresh breeze for once .
