I disagree . All I see is women must get married.....to be something . To be worth noticing . So no..not so boring . It be a fresh breeze for once .

I have seen that as well, but recently (past five to ten years) I've seen a lot of movies where the "career woman" (note that we don't often say "career men," which is kinda funny) is portrayed as neurotic, childless, alone, and emotionally inept, as though seeking professional acknowledgment is incompatible with having relationships. But it is true, that she is often juxtaposed against images of women who are portrayed as having found their ultimate fulfillment in quiet domesticity and conventional marriage. Both stereotypes are kinda crappy.

So hmm, that is really interesting to me. I'm glad you posted what you did- it has me thinking.

Well, the 'Kreia scenario' (kotor2) is another one where this scenario was applied (even though kotor2 isn't biowares)

I think that Vivienne is not romancable because she is “married” to her career. She has been featured as a very ambitious person and that probably means she either doesn’t have the time to involve herself in a romantic relationship (which I don’t think that’s the case) or she doesn’t want to be romantically involved with someone because that would leave her completely vulnerable…Vivienne knows and from the little information we have she excels in playing the Game. So a person so clever and ambitious as Vivienne probably thinks just like Morrigan, that love is a weakness and come to think of it in her case it is, because who is the first person her political enemies would target…her love interest of course. So a romance would certainly be a political "suicide".I think that Vivienne is a very strong-willed person perhaps even more strong-willed than Morrigan ever was, as the later finally succumbs to the Warden's charms even if she struggles with everything she believes about survival. Vivienne will peruse her goals till the end and nothing will stand before her and her ambition(which is not necessarily bad).
As far as the hidden agenda is concerned, why does that has to make her a villain? From what we know Vivienne has an open and clear agenda. Stop the mage-templar war and restore the circle to what it was so that she can take the place that she rightfully deserves to have and was meant for her from the very beginning. Perhaps she wishes an even higher place in the hierarchy of the circle, maybe she is after Fiona’s place as Grand Enchanter...who knows? But in any case that doesn’t make her a villain! If she has any hidden agenda that would propably be one that provides her with more political capital and power, but if it is something different we have no indication that it would be something that makes her a villain. I mean, think of Morrigan in Origins, she had a hidden agenda all along and in my opinion it served the PC quite well, as it spared him from his inevitable death…So hidden agendas are not inheritably evil.
All in all I think Vivienne is going to be a very interesting character. I really like to see strong women who have their own agendas and goals completely separate from the ones of the PC (even if sometimes their goals coincide) and will not bend to his/hers every will. Vivienne is her own character and she gets to tell her own story from her own point of view as each and every other character in Inquisition romancable or not. So let as not brand her a villain before we even see what she is like in game.

Why is everyone so obsessed the idea that Vivienne is evil? If a companion is young, attractive, ambitious and isn't interested in romancing the player then she must be one the bad guys?

You have a point, this said, Morrigan was romancable, part of my motivation is linked to the fact Vivienne isn't due to the villain role

I doubt that she's one of the antagonists.

Her "hidden agenda" could either be a red herring or might actually be beneficial to our cause.

Her hidden agenda is to use Circle funding to start a foundation for helpless animals like fennecs and nugs.

Now that you mention it, not wanting to romance me is awfully suspicious...

Maybe Vivienne is already in a relationship and that's the reason why we cannot romance her?  It's the only common sense answer I think other than her not wanting a relationship due to focus on her career.

Wait a minute!  How dare I use common sense in these forums.

I like to think the reason we cannot romance her is:
She once had a lover in the early days of her position, but due to Orlais politics being cut-throat her lover was assassinated, and so she has a shattered heart and will not let that happen to anyone else she cares for. Ergo- She is a workiholic who has learned to play "The Great Game." And not let weakness bind her. Only a theory there is no hard evidence supporting this.
