So, apparantly, that one time I flirted with Merril when she'd just moved into Kirkwall was enough for her to pop round to declare her love for me 3 years later.

I've got her at max rival so the only reason I can't just go for the first "cancel romance" because it make me feel like such an arsehole.

The only other chance is after you've slept with her, which comes accross as a little nice, though she probably ran home and cried her self to sleepandohgodwhathaveIdone...

 

Anyway... my point is, does ending the romance there stop Izzy's from going any furter, or is it just when another LI moves in with you?

Wrong forum, but I've heard that sleeping with most, if not all, companions ends Isabela's romance... you may want to reload if possible.

If you turn Merrill away, the Isabela romance wouldn't end.

Breaking up with Merrill before she moves in should let you romance Izzy.

You can pretty much sleep with all but one of the four romances without ruining any of the others. Just no more hearts for Merill? k?

Might be best to reload an older save before you accidentally (lol) slept with Merrill.

The last companion you slept with is the one that's going to 'stick'. So if you slept with Isabela first and then slept with Merril then you're stuck with either Merril or no one.

Its irrelevant for importing anyway. The Keep lets you pick your previous Love Interests.

But seriously, Merril's not the kind of romance where you can just go with the flow, you have to actively pursue her into the romance.

I've had this happen.

 

Romanced Isabela, had rivalry with Merrill. Merrill shows up in act 3 and initiates the romance conversation. Not being a meanie I went with it. Got kisses from both women later at the Gallows. IIRC Varric mentioned Isabela in the epilogue.

If you can still initiate a romance cutscene with Merrill that means you didn't lock in Bela's romance yet, right? I'm under the impression that once a romance is 'locked in' stuff like that becomes impossible for other characters that aren't your chosen LI. So you probably just locked in Merrill's with that cutscene. You may want to reload and unfortunately be a meanie if you wanted to go with Bela. xD
