The idea of this thread is simple, pick a tv show you like, why you like it, and why you think others would as well.

I'll start off with Psych

Comedy with some dramatic elements, funny especially in the earlier seasons with pop culture references galore, many obvious some more obscure.  Follows Shawn Spencer and his best friend Gus in Santa Barbara CA.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air, needs no explanation.

21 Jump Street and the Persuaders (German and French dub are better) for the good acting, great actors and clever writing. Scrubs for the humor, characters and feels.

Doctor Who because the series makes you laugh, it makes you cry and takes you on amazing adventures.

Once Upon A Time because it gets better with every season.

Downton Abbey because of its great portrait of the early 20th century.

M*A*S*H  stars Alan Alda

Comedy and good actors and actresses. The series took place during the 70's and early 80's, but to this day probably the best TV series ever.

Normal recommendations would be Game Of Thrones, House of Cards and breaking bad. These are amazing shows but I won't mention them because general consensus knows how great they are.

Hannibal is a great show. The show is not amazing(has a few forced twists) but the show is great. What stands out for me is the rendition of this hannibal. As compared to Anthony hopkins he is more quiet but you dive deeper into what he thinks about humanity. Humanity is useless to him, he is above it, he is probably not even human anymore. That is his mind state. However,he is taking care of these lesser species by giving them a beautiful death as symbolized in the elegance of his cooking.

Compelling storyline,rust cohle,very deep,brilliantly executed.

Guilty Pleasures

20140718042934!Supernatural_Season_7_BRCbasically fanservice the series. I like the bible references, closest thing I can get to a GOOD VTMB tv show.

Sleepy Hollow's pretty good. I think Season 5 of The Walking Dead will also be worth watching.

I'd say Agents of SHIELD. But that show didn't start being anything good until about halfway through when events from Captain America: The Winter Soldier affected it for the better.

I might watch Flash though. Other than that. Not a TV guy.

I'll recommend the spy drama The Blacklist. Even though the plot is simple the acting is superb and James Spader is just brilliant. even when being low key he commands nearly every scene he's in.

The on TV show that I've watched with any consistency in the last few years, is The Big Bang Theory. A funny show.

It's like any long-running Sci-Fi show.

Some good episodes (Waters of Mars, Blink, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Doctors Wife, The Eleventh Hour), some ok episodes (Impossible Planet, Satan Pit, Voyage of the Damned), Some bad (Love and Monsters, Daleks in Manhattan), and some OH GOD WHY!? (Fear Her, The End of Time).

Give a few episodes a try and see if it's for you is the best recommendation I can give.

I think Doctor Who is pretty good overall. It's a kind of a hit-or-miss thing. Some episodes are simply amazing, other episodes are boring or just plain weird. For me it went like this:

Christopher Eccleston: First Doctor I've seen. It starts with him if you start with the 2005 reboot series. It was difficult to warm up to him, but near the end of the season I really liked him. I was sad he already had to go after 1 season.

David Tennant: The reverse of what I felt for Eccleston. I loved Tennant right away, but near the end of his carreer as the Doctor I started to grow tired of him. He's an amazing actor, but his character development was inconsistent as f*ck.

Matt Smith: Absolutely loved this guy from start to finish. the second half of season 7 is terribly boring though, but the finale of Matt Smith is amazing.

Peter Capaldi: We've seen only 3 episodes of him so far. The first episodes was weird, but the other 2 episodes where amazing. I really love Capaldi as the new Doctor so far and I think he has the potential to become my new favorite Doctor.

If you looking for fantastic sci-fi, Babylon 5 for sure. A great story, character development and great actors. You can skip the 5th season if you want they weren't sure the show was going to be picked up so they pretty much ran the main story through season 4. Of course another classic sci-fi show is Firefly, it is just a fun show with great characters. Castle is also a great show as well, Stana Katic should be a good enough reason to watch it but Nathan Fillion is also pretty good, there are some great episodes from the earlier seasons the later seasons are getting weak.

Right now my favorite show on Television is probably The Strain. It's an atmosphere heavy horror-drama about a mysterious

Spoiler
plague that spreads across New York. It takes a Heroes approach to character's plot, with a lot of characters being within their self-contained story until their paths cross. What I enjoy about it the most though is how they slowly piece together the Plague's greater purpose to you. They start you off with a simple concept of what this thing is, and slowly layer on more and more detail about what it really is.

Be warned though, it's not for the faint of heart. If you have a problem with blood you likely won't find yourself enjoying it.
