Thus far among the Freshman series, only Gotham seems to have stood apart from the usual procedurals and shows. Anyone else see something I might have missed?

I would reccomend True Detective and The Walking Dead. TWD may not be worthy of some of it's praise, but neither is it the hate people give it just for being popular.

And his argument for actually including it was incredibly shallow -- A show is judged on its merits and I saw nothing of that there. If I wanted honest opinions on cinema or TV then I'd go to the sites I usually roam for that. Cracked I go to if I want get a laugh out of incredibly silly Top 10s or poor "journalistic" satire.

I agree with big bang theory. The hate I have about this show is almost passion.
IT Crowd > Big Bang theory in every shape,way and form.
Please don't get me started on that cringey algorithm for fun episode."He name dropped algorithm!!! Knuth must be so proud!!!!" no no no no/ sorry.
I haven't seen Dr Who.
True detective is amazingly executed in an era where everyone has a boner for specialists or geniuses on TV or crime dramas(I wish I never saw episode 5 though. I didn't like it).
I haven't seen walking dead but I hear one of the seasons is dreadful.

Although to be fair, I keep trying and failing to get into House of Cards. It should be right up my alley with all the political intrigue and intelligent maneuvering, but I have a mild touch of prosopagnosia and in a show with so many old, white, male characters, I tend to get lost on who is who.
Also to be fair, I had the same problem with Game of Thrones at first until I read the books and could track the characters by their actions/setting.
